  1. Be careful about saying 'game changer' if you haven't bought a usage licence from Apple. It's a cool and fun quadcopter (I hate using the term 'drone', I reserve that for military application ones, I'd rather use 'quad-', 'hexa-', 'octocopter' or 'multirotor', 'aerial platform'). In my eyes, it's just not a very serious aerial video platform, depending on what your expectations and requirements are however, it might be just super fine.
  2. Depends. Do you need the video production tools that are possible on the GH4? Like V-LOG L, anamorphic mode, headphone jack, TC, etc? If not per se, the new G80/85 has newer sensor tech and like the G7 and GX80 already, have a much cleaner image with a little nicer colors. On top of that it adds the 5-axis body image stabilizer which shifts the sensor to allow all of your non-stabilized third party lenses and primes to finally have stabilization! That's a major deal! Again. Depends. Every camera has their own strong points. The GX80/85 is nice 'n small. But with the G80/85 you would gain a vari-angle screen, instead of a tilty one. You get a mic-in, which sorta is a big deal if you want to record audio internally. Features Cinelike profiles. And it has weather sealing and is grippier. I'd say the best option for the time is the G80/85. It's the new Panasonic hybrid flagship for stills and video. Just to have the GH5 beat it, but at double the price, half a year later. -- if you're residing in the UK/EU, check out the killer deal I posted in the main thread:
  3. The PRO zooms have a mechanical push/pull de-clutch that provides it with a fixed travel and hard stops. Other lenses tend to be fly-by-wire only.
  4. Yes, it was already posted in the main thread:
  5. Wait. Why are they covered in dirt at the end? The headset made them unaware of their surroundings so they fell down a couple of times? :P
  6. Yup. I think with all you've mentioned the Mavic Pro seems to be the obvious choice for you. Just good no fuzz solid fun, without it being a hassle in some way.
  7. No, on paper it actually seems rather dandy. I'm talking from personal experience knowing their line-up and owning a S9900 and D5300, but mostly based on the fact that there was footage shot out there already that didn't impress me and had the typical Coolpix heritage, rather than that of the DX/FX line-up. That's just what I thought.
  8. Might not have a big boy sensor... but if it's able to play its cards right... this could be the ultimate camera! I honestly can't find much to fault it on. All comes down to... will it keep up in the video department? Or will it be riddled with stuff like moiré and compression artifacts?
  9. From what they've released themselves... Months ago by now, probably. When were they announced, february? What's going on there??
  10. Wouldn't get my hopes up too high... It's still created by them compact camera department guys and all their previous stuff was just barely ok-ish. I think you're in the wrong believing this would be a mini Nikon DSLR in terms of handling and results. What I've seen so far confirms my suspision... but it will be a good learning experience for them and maybe their mark IIs will be something special. :P For now, my hopes go out to a LX100 successor.
  11. It's not so much sharpness/contrast as it is actual details and most importantly color... as said before, that top down mode looks real good, everything in one plane. Once you start to add depth, things just seem to get messy and that doesn't just have to do with the new lens and AF. And colors are just weird to me. I'd say footage shot with the Phantom 4/Inspire 1+X5/X5R(OSMO) and probably GoPro Karma, might look a little more hyperrealstic/picture perfect and nicer. To me. So of course it's subjective whether you like that kinda thing or not... you might call it 'digital' or whatever. Also, you saw there that it's not quite as smooth as they as well mentioned separately. I mean. Hands down awesome small camera, no doubt. But not sure about praising sub-par image quality in order to justify buying one. But then again 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' is what they say...
  12. Hey, don't judge a book by it's cover! Or a slider by its use of cardboard and hot glue. Too legit to quit! All 'bout that streetcred! Hipstermatic! They should take the concept to Indiegogo/Kickstarter. Would be a shame to let this be a one-of. I bet it would take off big time. Like that potato salad , or the shrimp cloud . In the hopes it won't end up like the ShitBag .
  13. I see it's 'In stock' at places as well. Though, rather than picking one up in town, looks like it would pay off to order from e.g. CVP (savings roughly 110~120 EUR; excl. shipping). Anyone who bought and played around with it yet? I guess it makes sense to sell off the G7 and GX80 now... the GX80 form factor is way nice, with the compact zoom comparable to the LX100, but I guess having the best of both is worth trading in the small size for. Is that Lumix 12-60mm any good (I'm thinking about having something for the 5-Axis DUAL I.S 2)? 14-140mm the same as bundled with the GH4? -- another benefit ordering one from the UK, a G80 promotional free battery grip*: (*Purchase Period: 19/09/2016 - 31/10/2016. Applicable to residents of the EEA, EU, Switzerland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man who are aged 18 years or over)
  14. The digital Olympus cameras of nowadays have a 4/3" sensor with Micro Four Thirds mount. It's different. You will need an adapter to mount classic 35mm film system lenses. My pick would be a Kent & Faith (K&F Concept) one, as seen for example here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Olympus-OM-lens-to-MICRO-4-3-M4-3-adapter-Ring-GH1-E-P1-E-P2-High-Precision-SALE-/191634180837 . Of course, you can also go with Leinox or Fotga for example. Respectively found here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEINOX-OM-M4-3-Adapter-Ring-OlympusOM-Lens-to-Micro-4-3-Body-GX1-G5-GF5-EPL5-/291566575237 and http://www.ebay.com./itm/Olympus-OM-lens-to-Micro-4-3-M4-3-adapter-Ring-G10-G6-GH3-GH2-GH1-E-5-E-P3-E-M5-/272402527407 . * just be aware of the crop factor
  15. Yes. You pay for what you get. Possibly getting upscaled 4K from low-res too. There's decent alternatives to a GoPro that cost way less than a GoPro. But still if you want something that works well, you've got to pay up. Even within the cheaper China segment, like the 100$+ Xiaoyi/YI, SJCAM, GitUp, etc.
  16. The A7 S/R-less series has never been that exciting for video? Probably won't keep up with the A6500's video. Besides you can boost an APS-C Sony towards fullframe, so there's no real need. The only thing is... it needs to just simply work. Seems they can take some of the load off by introducing that large scale integrated circuit (LSI) that works together with the Bionz X. That and the option of raising the threshold for overheating. They're not really ouzing confidence of having dealt with this to completely keep this from happening though. Believe everyone with a little Sony insight is expecting it to perform like the A6300 on current firmware. So it might run fine for half an hour, in certain conditions might flip on you after a couple of minutes.
  17. I WANT to have an APS-C camera like the A6500. But without comparing it to anything else... and without actual more hands-on experiences... you might as well lock up this thread, because there wouldn't be much to discuss except 'I feel cheated, I just bought the A6300!'? I'm not a Panasonic/M43 fanboy. I'm a camera fanboy. I use whatever works best. -- neways, I'll just add another video:
  18. Yeah, that says a lot, doesn't it. Honestly, Albert Fast has been doing great stuff with the G7! And it's an cheap as fuck camera that doesn't overheat! He uploaded this a few days ago:
  19. Yeah, they've said that at the announcment event. It's kinda thought for transport... maybe just maybe for no0bs who want to be extra safe for the first couple of flights. Still not sure about the video quality in general, it has a very signature look to it (in a bad way).
  20. Yeah, I think I'm all about the E-M1 Mark II right now. It's not APS-C, but for the rest they've done pretty much what I needed from it. Of course, it will be same as with this new Sony... looks nice and all on paper... how will it fare in the real world?
  21. It is stills. It's just at 24 frames per second. That would make for 24p video. Which it isn't until you put 'em in a sequence.
  22. I think they're suppressing it. Emotionally I mean. They don't want to acknowledge there is even a problem. So they're not going to say it's solved either. I guess... you could really say they're regarding it a feature. 'Wow John it's amazing!' "But wait! Pick up the phone now and you get free overheating with each order! As a bonus! Completely free of charge!". P.s. I lol'd when I saw on the EOSHD topic listing this topic was regarded a 'hot topic'. xD
  23. But maybe the wiring and processing for reading out that sensor has improved... processing, buffer and burst are improved as well so, doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Just keep an eye on https://www.youtube.com/results?sp=CAI%253D&q=sony+a6500 for further footage to come out and judge...
  24. That's just some rebrand of one of them (crap (e.g.)) Chinese action cams you'd find anywhere through: http://chinaprices.us/?q= , https://finddealsfor.me/ , https://en.pandacheck.com/ , https://www.aliexpress.com/ , https://sjcamhd.com/ & e.g. http://www.elephone.hk/ele-explorelite . SJCAM also launches two new ones this month... with apparently a 3rd one on the way as well according their FB.
  25. They're trying to stimulate grey import, or what?
