Yes, serious video options for the all-in-1 shooters. ND Filter like the Sony RX-series (or older LX7), woohoo! I do hope they've given the LX10 a vari-angle or 180° tilt touch display and mic-in! Then it's the perfect all-in-1'er. The thing I tend to grab the most for snaps and casual shooting is the LX100. It's just a nice solid easy and basic camera. But yeah, there's some things that added could mean tremendous value! Color me excited!

Probably Cinelike D/V. This makes sense. People wanted the IBIS, but wanted a fully articulated screen and mic-in mostly. This is best of GX85/80 and G7, acknowledging the market for hybrid shooting and the recording of usable 4K footage that compliments the 4K consumer market (tv/new media streaming video). It's like I said before, it makes sense to have some kind of does it all camera flagship, but there's still tons of people whom may not even care and benefit from V-LOG L and things like an anamorphic mode (or just need an affordable basic 2nd unit that compliments & matches the more expensive main one (GH5)). So I was thinking they should just make a GH5 as their hybrid flagship and then a VC5 (VariCam 5) that is basically for people who come from a MFT GH2/3/4 & Blackmagic background and want something more serious without it ending up body only 3000+module costs (think: A7RII/SII, FS5/7, Kinefinity Terra, BMD URSA Mini, RED etc). I think 1999-2999 is not crazy for something proper. I think with the G80 they can satisfy the need of hybrid users, that shoot stills and video, but aren't willing to pay premo price for video features that go way over their head. So the G80 now seems the consumer flagship that I before would call GH5 and instead of that VC5 they now bring the actual GH5. Neways time to sell the GX80 and G7!!

They've probably seen the Chinese Z Camera E1 by Imagine Vision Tech and the DJI Zenmuse X5(R) and went like... hum, especially now that there's Xiaomi quadcopters, why not go do something like that as well?

D750 indeed seems top pick. Not sure about a successor... is it due/are there any rumors? Haven't heard anything, think it's on year 2 of a 3 years cycle. M5 looks alright, actually. Although then you'd probably want to get the EOS-M lenses to match and then you're stuck to it. Maybe D5500 until that D750 successor comes out makes a little more sense? Sony/Samsung/Panasonic have the better slowmo options, but you've ruled 'em out already! :D Wildcard choice: Fujifilm X-T2.

I'm most curious about the Panasonic G80 or whatever they're calling it as well as the rumoured appearance and (partial) specs of the GH5 supposedly to hit market first thing 2017. As well as the Olympus E-M1 successor, first Oly with 4K? How good?

Amen! The only exception to the mirrorless violence here is the D5300. As well regularly have it paired up with the 35mm f/1.8 which is a superb allrounder. What is quite frustrating for me coming from a background of snappy mirrorless liveview cameras is indeed the operational lag, especially using liveview with stills and the mirror flipping around like two times. Still though, especially for landscapes, how are my M43 cameras supposed to compete?! Especially pairing the D5300 up with the amazing 28mm f/2.8 AI-s MF. Wouldn't mind the upgrade to the D5500 for the touchscreen and flat profile. Nikon for me is the brand for stills and the D5xxx line-up is such tremendous value. It really is. I'd like to see them being a little nicer in use though, especially the liveview experience and having the D5xxx line-up as well drive the focus motor of certain lenses. Ulitmately I'd have them just come out with a mirrorless version of the D5500. Anyways. That's a whole other discussion.

Ah! I was wondering when they'd bring out the daylight balanced version. For me that's just more practical. I've been using multi-LED panels all this time, but am really looking into a studio set-up lighting kit that could would be nice for both photography and video use and allows me to use the multitude of Bowen-S accessories. But I'm first waiting on reports of the Yongnuo YN-760... I'm skeptical... but you never know. It might be quite a bit cheaper, but it will probably be noticeable in some way. Aputure always seem to mix value with good quality.

Not sure if the review is advertiser friendly (that's a hot mess on YouTube right now). Like it, though! I think a feel for entertainment runs in the blood of 'muricans! (He kind of reminds me of Jeff Daniels, maybe a hint of James Cameron). I do appreciate Nitsan's reviews! He did a video on this light as well:

The D5500 has a reasonably solid built, but yeah, there's something to say for the absolute toughness of the D7000. Atleast you'd have one set of native lenses to use on both if you got the D5500 additionally. It also makes a pretty mean stills camera, so... if you do want to use it in a hybrid sense for the occasional stills when you're out shooting video, it blows the other mentioned cameras out of the water with its 24MP sensor. Very clean and detailed. Before you buy the G6... the G7 was actually very sharply priced! I imagine when the GX80/85 came out, maybe there were people who prefered the built-in stabilization and went with that one and put their G7 for sale? It's 4K. It's really good and outclasses the GH4 even in some areas. Also... maybe there are some good 2nd hand deals on the LX100? That's basically all you need to start shooting and experimenting. Use it at max ISO1250 and the image is really nice. After all these years maybe GH2 bodies have finally reached bottom dollar? Not sure. You would probably need the SanDisk 95MB/s cards though. Although I've enjoy my time with the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS with CHDK (Canon Hack Development Kit to run scripts and such (basically Magic Lantern)) and that being the thing that sparked my love for shooting video. Since, I've never really been interested in picking up a Canon myself. I can't however deny their contribution to the way we shoot video today and the success especially of many YouTube channels that started out with 550D/T2is (don't think actually many used Magic Lantern over the years though, they just wanted to press the button - record and upload it with the least amount of fuzz and healthy looking skin colors). The T2i is a classic and everything is well documented. So you can always go that route. I'm sure Zach Goodwin would approve that message.

Another IBC, another electrochromic ND solution!

Definitely something to keep in mind. Thanks. I travel around quite a bit for business. Wish I'd known this when I was in Venice a couple of times this summer. Usually my schedule is pretty tight without much room to go roam around, but this summer I actually had some time to explore. Although... I had only checked the 50mm (the standard focal length I like a lot) that was quite cheap. It didn't quite imagine some of the others hitting a pricepoint of 4515,- EUR till I saw that them listed at that Italian retailer (for those kinda prices that's as well proper Zeiss CP.2, Canon CN-E and Schneider Xenon FF level, although those being very chunky lenses still of course and only the most expensive PrimeCircle is around that pricepoint, the others are still quite a bit cheaper (like the 50, I guess nifty too)). Currently I have the Veydra Mini Primes (at Kickstarter price), which serve me well and are at a pricepoint that kinda makes sense for the level I'm at (hence 'Filmrookie' below my nickname). But maybe in the future, doing more legit projects, when I need a set of lenses to cover bigger sensor cameras, but are still kinda cute in size... these definitly will fit the bill. Also. They have some great other stuff going on there with cages, matteboxes and other accessoires. All 'made in the Europe'! Nice.

If they really are thinking about more serious mirrorless cameras and don't see them as much of a threat to higher end cameras, but competing against the other mirrorless market products, then it could get interesting. The EOS-M M5 is almost there, but not quite yet. But I guess that goes for every camera they release, lol.

I think that particular application won't. But plenoptic cameras is general? Sure.

Dutch? German (Deutsch; 'aus Berlin'). Luckily I know both. He says the AF as well 'important' as it is 'convincing' and 'impressive'. He doesn't really like the quick AF, but thinks it probably has its use in some scenarios. He indeed mentions that one shot when she's moving towards the camera that usually would require a focuspuller and now the camera can handle a shot like that by itself.

Get rid of the D7000 and buy a D5500? Would make sense for someone familliar with Nikon. It has very nice video actually at 1080p60 and a flat profile. Of course, if the thing that attracts you is the tinkering around with settings and experimenting with features, go ahead and get any of those you mentioned. But all it will do is create more perhaps unneccessary post processing when the D5500 would be very straight to the point. Just my 2cts. Gd luck.

Neat! Grazie! Looks like his are customs as well. You know, normally companies ask 500% of the actual worth because it's a cinema line-up. These are 30% more expensive modded out and are stunning!

I remember there being a topic on that somewhat recently: Combined with the poll: that might give you some interesting perspectives. Shane Hurlbut seems to always use one and how he uses it makes sense. I never felt like I needed to, though. Maybe because I'm not legit enough, or I know how my camera handles certain conditions and know how to expose it to get the most out based on the metering/histogram and displayed image. But in the discussions there for example it is a good point that you can use one to light a scene before even rolling a second on camera.

Well, I find Panasonics pretty unacceptable at anything above ISO1250. So you wouldn't use ISO12800. Dúh. The A7RII you'd try to use in S35 crop mode. The 5DmkIV... well it's a little better than the 5DmkIII, but nothing groundbreaking? I've only noticed extra detail in some of the foliage, but that's about it. Might as well shoot the 5DmkIII with ML RAW and add some post sharpening??
-
Yeah, I'd like to see that 2.5K or 4K solution in something a little bit more compact. Why can't they make a new BMPCC? A bit beefier, like a GH4, with good battery life and a touchscreen. To be used stand alone, very low profile, no rigging, just the camera and a lens. But also very modular. Rig it up as you please. They've announced a few things at IBC (e-mail from Grant Petty), but none of 'em a BMPCC Mark II. #sadface

Well, there are quite a few companies making cine housings for existing stills lenses. That's money that others are making from your products. So... why not do it yourself? You've got the right filling, now you just gotta find a different sized turkey for it. And it's easier if you're the manufacturer, then you don't have to take things apart and figure out how to make it work. You can make it come together quite nicely from start to finish. It's not really rocket science either. Everything's just bigger, less clicky and there's more metal, more travel. Sure that's an increase in manufacturing costs, but not that significantly I suppose. Someone that buys something like this doesn't really pay for the product's material worth... There's just not a mass market with a need for cinema lenses (you're right, the market isn't so big), so... the price has to be up there in order for it to make sense business wise. If you can't make money with a small mark-up and selling 'em in in high quantities, you've got to make good money on the individual sales of which there are less. Although, personally, I'm not sure about the strategy of having re-housed affordable stills lenses (the existing Cinema ATX line-up) sell at 4000 bucks a pop or something... There's always actual cinema lenses rental (like the ones you mention) and if I'd be into purchasing re-housed stills lenses, I'd probably be more thinking along the lines of XEEN and might consider Veydra as well. I don't know how much market there is between people that need budgetfriendly and convenience and people who are willing to pay more and pick the best. I think the re-housed zooms have their place, but when you have to put together a set of cinema primes? Depends on how these primes turn out, but for that kinda money, wouldn't you just consider the household cinema brands (Canon CN-E, Zeiss CP.2, Schneider Xenon FF), instead of these Tokina lenses that are up there in price as well? I think they should lean more towards the approach of the Sony CineAlta line-up. Came down from 20k+ USD to 12499 USD for 6 lenses. That's a little over 2000 each. Of course, the trick here is that the Tokina's are fullframe covering, not just S35. Well, so are the XEEN primes listed as set of 5 for 9999 (again around 2000 each). I think that's where they need to be at for me personally to consider them. -- Hum, anyone any experience with https://www.lockcircle.com/primecircle/ ? Gotta say, that looks really interesting!

http://www.canonrumors.com/?s=mirrorless Btw, besides some of the flair of cameras like the NX1 and G7 (maybe a hint of X-T2) this looks quite a bit like the G5x too. It has the flippy tilty screen that I personally believe would've been nice on the M5.
-
Could be. Bout the mount... how does the EOS-M mount compare to the E-mount anyways? Flange? Just as flexible? Or more like the NX-mount? Are there any fancy adapters out there already? Is it possible? Are people working on it? Are there just your typical Chinese manufactured ones? I know a lot of people don't mind a 1080p resolution only. Especially people who are creating online content and need to think about quick turnarounds, with fast editing and mainly dealing with mobile use and/or 1080p screens with 1080p uploads. When it has the skintones and color to match... and the dualpixel AF... that's why I don't get why they did not give it a fully articulated screen. Now GQ's Men of the year (category 'New Media') Casey Neistat has to continue lugging around that Canon 70D/80D a little longer. Honestly, I always think Canon just come up with these kind of things themselves. But why not ask for input and create something that makes a bit more sense for a whole lot more people? Hey, atleast it looks legit now... and! they've included a mic-in. I'm just not sure why they can't make 'consumer friendly 4K'. I mean... people will still buy a GH-camera, because it's a productivity tool with advanced features... yet all their other cameras provide users with 4K options. That's the thing with Canon... You want 4K, haha! Howabout $4k in cash and bloated professional range cameras? Thank you. Come again. 4K doesn't mean I need 500Mbit MPEG and Canon LOG. Ok, then don't make it that 'fancy', geez. Or... just provide 2.5K/2.7K to really safeguard and differentiate your 4K cameras. I don't get the fear of moving away from 1080p. You've got to step it up to stay relevant (amongst the competition, but also phones are getting 2K, 4K tv's...).

Mainly rocking the Sennheiser HD25 SP-II and the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x DG here. My favourite earbuds are the Vsonic VSD3.

Although it says 'electronic' specifically. Don't know how you're going to apply 5-axis electronic stabilization... maybe with accelerometers and then cropping in, like that mapping software with post stabilization?
