Olympus E-M5 MK III - coming in October
Cinegain replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
12-60mm? Personally... I'd take the benefits of the E-M1 Mark II over the slightly smaller formfactor of the E-M5 Mark III. In the end it's really the lenses that do the trick keeping stuff compact not a few mm of camera body. -
Just noticed them uploading a bunch of videos regarding some 'LUMIX Academy'. Checked it out... actually looks alright. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6Y73jphTLqtEYFVZroeRpzykCACsShXm Reminds me a bit of the AdoramaTV HDSLR Five Part Series (the playlist seems to have been removed, but you can search). Seems a good way to get the basics down. Throwback:

After the HELIOS 44-2, now as well the MIR-1B 37mm f/2.8 & JUPITER-9 85mm f/2 as VLFV (Vintage Lenses for Video/Alan Besedin) are available to pre-order at IronGlassAdapters. Individual or as complete set: https://ironglassadapters.com/cine-edition-lens-set/ They've also made some adjustments to the 58mm setting back the timeline slightly: 'improvements to the original design, including an upgrade of the front ring O.D. to 95mm for easier clip-on matte box compatibility. We’ve also improved the lens markings and added a “glow in the dark” paint. Finding & shipping the best quality paint and making new parts to for the updated design delayed the production by 3-4 weeks'.

One out of the SCL-PK6 pack? Always wondered about those. They came in rather expensive and have dropped beyond massively in price since. They only cover S35, but proper cinema glass and construction... Wonder what those are going for by now...

Can't wait to be an end ussr

Browser thingie. There's also differences with Chrome, FireFox and others with HDR content on YouTube. I found that one browser kept it flat and didn't apply HDR grading if you will to make it pop. Funny enough... when you would scroll over the timeline with your mouse, you get these little thumbnails/framegrabs... and those were. Not sure why Netflix doesn't just rely on an app/software on one's computer.

I've heard... that the best kind of labour is child labour. They need a healthy break from Minecraft anyways. ? To learn about something wholesome, like pulling focus.

May or may not have one coming my way... should I find time to capture a bit of footage for a challenge... I will make sure to forward it.

We're nearing towards the end of the year... many of us are on the sprint towards the finish line, it's a busy period. That and certain constraints... means not everyone is able or willing to participate. Instead of a contest... it should perhaps be... as per the title of the thread a 'challenge'. Like with all social media challenges and memes, there's no real contest with winners and losers (which is btw another reason people might not enter, afraid of the judging, plain bad comments (opposed to constructive criticism) and coming in last (perhaps unfounded fear, but existent nontheless)), it's just... a challenge, meant to challenge oneself. Be it the cinnamon challenge... bottle flipping... or ones to bring awareness to good causes such as the ice bucket challenge. It's about getting out of your comfort zone, experiencing something new, pushing yourself and most of all: to participate... not to be 'init to win it', but just for fun, to have a certain commonality with other individuals that enjoy doing something different and perhaps a bit random. Instead of something being cleverly thought out as a contest... maybe indeed just let people run with it as they please as a challenge, the only rule being 'shot on a Soviet prime', keep it year round for all I'm concerned, until with any challenge it sorta settles itself and a new thing comes along... say the 'FD lens challenge' or what have you. All that said. I do appreciate putting in the time and effort that went into organizing this to strengthen the community around here. ☺️?

Exactly that? Get someone to help out rather than something? Sometimes the obvious solution isn't necessarily all that technical by nature. A family member, friend, neighbour surely has a moment of their time to help you out if you'd ask. Of course you can deploy other solutions, but indeed they require one to be a little more inventive and are probably quite a bit more cumbersome than sourcing someone to play camera operator for a bit.

No way. Bar Iakwe! ? I always said I wanted to retire and start a diving school at Bikini Atoll. Bikini (of which its existence I found out by randomly placing a finger on a spinning globe as a little kid), of course known for a couple of things, like the two-piece bathing suit, Godzilla and Spongebob Squarepants. The latter two of course greatly affected by nuclear bomb tests (by now the radiation ain't too bad). There's also sunken boats and planes which has made a great home to marine wildlife and made it a great spot for diving.

In 2017 I already spotted them boasting some concept lenses that never made it to production. So... it was interesting to find out that when they did announce actual production lenses, the first one was an anamorphic one well under a 1000 bucks next to a standard portrait lens 85mm f/1.4. Saw them in person at IBC (article of theirs).

Seeing The Hateful Eight as Ultra Panavision 70mm Roadshow was quite epic. For us mere mortals though... I don't even want dedicate myself to an APS-C let alone FF ecosystem. For me MFT hits the sweetspot. Panasonic, Olympus, Blackmagic, Kinefinity etc are doing great things. You keep the option of frankenrigging it and adapting any sort of lens. At the same time... there's class leading IBIS, best features in the game (Panasonic with internal 10-bit as well as offering 60p in 4K), great ergonomics & reliability and the option of having really small and light lenses to go with it when that's what the situation calls or allows for that day. People can keep their LF. But... if someone is willing to go through all the trouble of acquiring in LF... hey, have at it! I'm sure I will thoroughly enjoy it!

True that. ? On the topic of gimbals (and stuff that needs charging/firmware updating). So... Sirui's really branching out it seems. Used to be known for tripods/monopods. Now doing anamorphic lenses... and they're even taking to Indiegogo/crowdfunding with a gimbal stabilizer. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a-perfect-stabilizer-companion/x/9727099#/ Can't handle much, but that they bring it at such a pricepoint ($109) is pretty bananas. Now that Canon's updating the G7 X Mark III with improved C-AF and 24p through firmware... it could be interesting for that (though perhaps kinda defeating the purpose having the Canon as a little always-on-me compact camera being used as-is).

Dunno... like a watch collection or any collection for that matter... it can get outta hands. But you just want to be covered for any type of occassion to be able to match the mood. Of course it depends if making the right call comes naturally to you. Indecisiveness can cause anxiety and unproductiveness, sure. If you're a handyman with a toolbox full of tools and you need to put a nail in the wall, you don't have to really contemplate what tool to use for the task at hand. However. If the toolbox is only equiped with a screwdriver and no hammer... it can be the case that you just made your job a little harder to pull off. I'm not saying you should always have all your options to your disposal at any given time. But you can be selective with what you bring along based on what you're expected you'll need on site, which you can get quite clear about beforehand. Or if you want another analogy (yeah, that's kinda my thing)... imagine karaoke night... but instead of having a folder with lists and lists of songs to choose from... there's only two songs.

Well... I'm asking Santa for a Nucleus Nano that's for sure! And that's for sure a nice extra incentive.

That's so sick! ??
