Software utility is now version 2.7. The BMPCC actually didn't get updated firmware since 2.1: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/8235-software-update-blackmagic-camera-27-11-sep-15/ .

It's sensor stabilization. So you can throw in front whatever you want and benefit from the sensor stabilization (incl. other than Sony lenses): ~ http://www.sony.net/Products/di/en-us/products/dkw5/#chapter-sec_11/1 Concerning lens recommendations, you might want to check: http://www.eoshd.com/eoshd-shooters-guide-sony-a7-a7r-lenses/ .

I hate those guys with their spam. Yes, you Mark. Get outta here, you chump. Can't believe no mods around to clean up the place a bit. Keeping a tidy household, you know.

Just got mine in. Man. Overkill on the packaging much? A sleeve for the key (on cardboard back), the manual, both inside a box. With some air cushioning put in another box, weighing in at 210gr total... express shipping too. They could've spared the environment a bit by just mailing it to me electronically or something. Geez. Oh well. Fully unlockage! Now just have to pick my APS-C covering C-mount lenses up from the post office and give both V-LOG and those a try.

So, eh, you will throw that in front of your T2i, eh?. Does that even work?

The E-M1 didn't have a that terrible quality when it came out. Just quite limiting functionality and by now... nearing 2016 quality wise just quite significantly behind what others are throwing out. The E-M5II may have a couple of new additions such as the vari-angle display, grip with headphone jack, flexible frame rate options and a flat profile for example, but in the end it's not leaps ahead of the E-M1. Equipping the E-M1 might redeem some of its usefulness as Olympus is still the only M43 to pull off sensor stabilization during video recording. And as long as Panasonic will fail to give in and do the same, there might still be some interesting things to come from Olympus yet, especially when you think sensor tech and processing is rapidly improving and soon 4K will be a standard feature on cameras. Might not be top dog, but very reasonable still. I can imagine going with an almost exclusively Olympus kit. When not going for a special stylized look/character, I'd be happy enough with the three f/2.8 PRO zooms: 7-14, 12-40 & 40-150mm (with extender). Ok, you might want to throw in one of their primes... the 12mm f/2, perhaps the f/1.8 17mm, 25mm, 45mm and/or 75mm. Could even throw in the 60mm f/2.8 macro as a specialty lens. Admittedly Olympus has some of the greatest modern optics around. It's hard to really fault their lenses. They're almost always razor sharp where they need to be and render quite beautifully. Together with the sensor stabilized Olympus bodies a great combination, with great colors as well. That's kind of my thing with Sony or Samsung. I'm not really that into their native lens line-up and I like the compact form factor as an option to keep it small (and rather rig it up when really needed). If Panasonic remains too scared to do sensor stabilization during video because of some treaties signed with Olympus and Olympus not keeping up with the current video standard then I only see a future with Sony. They've already shown capable of keeping up and going forward with their efforts on the RX100-, RX10- and A7x-lines. The A5100/A6000 not too bad either of course, but I don't think they expected those would hit it off so much with us video folks. Next gen might take that into a bit more consideration. I think APS-C might be the best compromise of performance/compact/value(price) too. If they'd give us a A7RII lite... with 'lite' as in: APS-C sensor, then I'd be a happy camper. But until that happens... being invested in the M43 system already, loving the compact form factor and overall value... when you're looking for sensor stabilization, Olympus is up there as the no.1 pick. Great with native glass and awesome for third party lenses... vintage... cinema... anything really. Keeping things really light and simple, there's a reason why some people choose it over a camera that has the upper hand when it comes down to image quality and functionality. But I guess it's always a game of 'pick your poison'. Would be curious to know why it would take them to end of November for the roll out...

But. Um. I think it's very similar to the viewfinder for the Blackmagic URSA Mini, no? Guess this is where the branche is at right now; copying concepts. Shame Shame Shame.

If you're the one behind this, just be open about it. I've personally just about had it with folks registering to promote their brand and then pretend as if they haven't got much clue and we need to check it for them to give advice. Again... 0 post history before this and a campaign that needs more traction/people buying into it. Atleast I guess it has to do with filmmaking unlike that other guy asking our opinions on solar/wind energy charging/power solutions. Still as annoying as those Gudsen/Moza folks though. If it's interesting enough, it will get covered. Anyways. If you would've bothered to follow this forum, you'd have come across this topic: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/9273-nebula-4200-5-axis-gimbal/ . With posts like: Although the Nebula 4200 doesn't get too serious, which is great for us GH4/BMPCC/BMMCC/NX1/A7x shooters. But yeah, some might be looking for something that ís more serious... so who knows. If you have the money for a Ronin an a RED, you might just care enough about this.

Sounds reasonable. That's similar terrain to the H1+ and CameTV Single. I like the option using it as 5-axis double handle or 3-axis single handle. The real issue for me with the Nebula 4000 was that people seemed to be really struggeling to get it tweaked just right. This is the most crucial part to get right and I feel like that's one of the reasons so many people are going with Pilotfly right now. They post combinations of cameras and lenses and it appears to be fairly easy to adjust. From another tech point the CameTV Single has the encoders which seem to do a great job. Seems the new Filmpower stabilizers are tool-free, which is a great plus. It's where others were heading as well. Good trend. Some added bluetooth control is nice too. Appears to have enough space to balance a camera and a somewhat bulkier lens, which I like. Feels like they've listened to what users of the Nebula 4000 and other pistol grip gimbal stabilizers said they were still missing/struggeling with. Including the up/down bounce. I was waiting for things to mature to a point that I'd believe it would be a must have tool in the bag. This might just be it. But like DBounce says... I need some more proof of concept than what I've seen so far. I'll probably wait till names like Dave Dugdale, Emm/MrCheesycam, Nitsan Simantov, Tom Antos, Jordan Drake, Erik Naso and/or others have giving it a proper review.

Test - Are Vintage Lenses Really Radioactive?

Hum... Probably shot on something like this: -
Next report back to us with some videos! Of the gimbal rig itself being used in a reallife setting and the footage shot with it.

Well, that does sound like a steal and worth a try. I have the Ai-s 28mm f/2.8 and 35-70mm f/3.5 zoom which are for sure worthwhile. Nikkors in general are pretty fun, so for the price you're probably going to get your money's worth and then some! Enjoy!
-
Sounds disappointing. Any chance you got to play and check the menu/features or ask what the monitoring functions entail?
-
With your priorities I'd be inclined to say: D5500. Fine for your 60% stills and solid 1080p video.

Here's uncle Rockwell's article: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/35f14ais.htm , says: 'blurry corners with loads of coma'. Just curious. The Sigma ART 18-35mm f/1.8, too bulky? Too expensive? Too modern? Too zoomy?

You guys seen this? I've been thinking about an electrochromic ND solution like this for a while now... glad to see it's actually taking shapes already!

Jup. Almost as if they tricked people. It's like you're in a mall and walk into this one store and they've got a little promotional stand to sample something... you like it so much, you come back again a little later for another free sample at the end of your shopping spree hoping the lady doesn't recognise you from earlier. Still leaves you wanting more... you know you can't keep showing up for free samples forever and finally just give in a buy the damn thing to enjoy it in abundance and all its glory. Does make sense just to pay for it. In some way everybody that's serious about their video gets the real NLE deal too, I guess you could probably download a cracked version from somewhere, but if it's something you actually have to work with... you just want to keep it legit and furthermore: with the least amount of hassle/worries about functionality. Anyways, they've got my 103 or so EUR already. Just would appreciate it if they'd ship out those keys already, really don't see what's keeping them. In meanwhile it can't hurt to leave 2.3 on there with the workaround V-LOG already sampling it. Already having some experience with how to shoot & process the footage will save some time having to figure it out later.

Well, it would be something if Panasonic themselves would tell you about it... Enough pointers in the other topic, but check your PM.

When is "Good Enough" Enough? The rise of mirrorless and the jump to 4K.

'I wish I could just stop using the forum but I know I'll get drawn back in' ~ you 9 months ago. I guess you're reborn? Do you feel differently about the 'I think 70% of the users here are fucking stupid'? Or is that the reason you're plugging this site aimed at filmmaking begginers (and you want to be kept on as a paid writer and need to gather some readers)? You did say 'I'm not going to change my tune'. But hey, time changes people and I guess everyone deserves a 2nd chance. OT: Yeah, there are many different set-ups one could opt for that are better than a T5i with H4n. The one you suggested could work for someone. Depends on what they need. -
No more inherent 'ah, GH4, right?'-look. The vibe's just seems more right than it ever was. Almost Blackmagic territory perhaps? Maybe those guys over at SteadXP can include 10-bit capture with their little box, lol.

Yeah, that's fine. Just having 24/25p we've been wanting since day one is quite the relief.
