Thanks for sharing the method. (?!) Panasonic coming up with such a cumbersome workaround to upgrade so it can't be hacked and then... voilá. Still. If you support their efforts bringing it in the first place, you might as well tip them for it. (I already paid for mine, it's just silly that the camera already has it, but I can't use it until Panasonic ships out my key, so yeah it's nice to have an early preview)

Wow, didn't think the day would come. Some life left in her (E-M1) yet!

Erm. I take the EF to NX adapter is a dummy one (not a smart one, so without electronics?). This is THE reason I go with Nikon mount lenses. The aperture is mechanically controlled, thus you can use an adapter with very simple mechanical control ring. With EF lenses, you NEED that electronic control... as EF mount lenses, incl, the EF Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 do not have a manual aperture ring or mechanical link. If you don't, it just sticks to whatever it's last set to with through the electronic control of your electronic adapter of Canon body. So yes, it's possible that it's at f/4. Get a Canon body to change it to f/1.8. Not sure if there's such a thing as a smart adapter. Again: Nikon mounts would be stellar here. Unless you could in fact go for a smart adapter and benefit from possible electronic control of aperture and focus system as well as optical image stabilization, which could later also be adapter to Blackmagic EF mount cameras for example. But that's up to you.

Couple of other fun things too, including a micro boompole ( https://www.youtube.com/user/rodemicrophones/videos ):

Probably similar to the 'Go'.

Takes more than it gives, actually. Let me rephrase that 'what takes?'. Still messed up though.

This topic needs an image to go along with it. Now, that looks like a pretty nifty setup right there, such a compact form factor, yet still all the fancy smancy controls. Is there any dedicated shoulder attachment for it when it comes out? I could imagine an extention for the handgrip and a little shoulder attachment to really make it a mini FS7. - ok, yeah this might be a thing: http://www.sony.co.uk/pro/product/broadcast-products-camcorders-tripods-supports/vct-sp2bp/overview/

Yeah, perhaps without all the add-ons you would want the URSA Mini is. What I think is really messed up though is that the EUR price is much higher than the USD price although the EUR/USD exchange is still in favor of the EUR (which has dropped strength quite significantly, I vividly remember when it was still around 1.45-ish dollar for a euro, now it's somewhere around 1.10 you'd get for 1 EUR). I mean, what gives.

Internally, not over its port. ;)

If the final export is in 25p, you might as well shoot 25p to begin with. Then sync up your shutter speed/angle to that of the country you're in. So in stead of using 1/50th in a PAL country, use 1/60th for a NTSC one, it ul make it in sync with the 60HZ. Should do the trick.

E-M10II seems to use the older E-M1 5-axis in-body image stabilization (atleast without only being 30p, grrr). It still seems pretty nice.
-
Dang. Sony's been cooking up something! Quite pricey, but then again I was only expecting internal 4K and some minor changes. S-LOG3 and 5-axis IBIS is pretty sweet.

Pwoah, let's get those videos going! R e s p e c t

While the mentioned Mitakon is now up for pre-order at a 399 USD price point, there's some other news. From no other than Zeiss! A new ZE / ZF.2 line-up under the name 'Milvus' covering full frame and come in either Canon EF or Nikon F mount. Mention for video use: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/news/zeiss-milvus-lens They're in the reach of 1100~1900 each. Want a f/1.4? There's a 50 & 85mm for that. The widest is a 21mm f/2.8. And the remaining f/2s come in at 35, 50 and 100mm. Interesting... just not sure about the 'rubber focusing ring' for video... - video:

Pretty sure they've got 'in-camera anamorphic de-squeeze', 'super slowmo' and '8K recording' hidden as well (judging the fact there's such thing as an 'activation list' in the menu showing the currently activated features on the camera). That makes another 3x 100 bucks they can charge us.

Shooting with a 4K pocket camera - the exceptional Panasonic LX100

Can't say that I have. Still the case if you remove the accessory ring? Maybe a step-down then step-up combo could work? -
Yeah, I remember back in february reading ( http://www.olympus-global.com/en/news/2015a/nr150210mfourthirdse.jsp ) about them joining the M43 standard. I was wondering when they'd show up with something! Cool! Also keen to see what the E1 ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2081787381/e1-camera-4k-uhd-interchangeable-lens-camera/description ) could mean to this corner of the market.

Well... Time to get those keys out, Panasonic. Seems kinda silly to hold us up much longer, now!

Given the price drop on the A6000, I'm actually hoping they'll announce its successor the 11th too. Secretly hoping they'll bring out the A6100 as a photographer's camera and a video minded A7000. APS-C mirrorless is a nice combination of compact sized & performance, as well as flexibility. I just emptied my mailbox and there was a M43 to NEX adapter in there (yes, I too was surprised it works that way, but not so much the other way around) which I already went ahead and ordered in anticipation. I'm hoping it gives me the mounting flexibility close to the M43 system, the features of the mirrorless system and the better performance as seen with the Nikon APS-C cameras perhaps. The new Sony camcorder seems a bit out of my category, but does sound pretty gosh darn exciting.

Well, they're not known for their sharpness... but they are known for their interesting almost vintage character and bright lenses!

Oh wow, ZY Optics/Zhongyi is teasing something crazy for M43. A 25mm f/0.95 pancake! ~ https://www.facebook.com/zyoptics/photos/a.1553583991526634.1073741829.1540141352870898/1646130092272023/?type=1 - edit: Well, maybe not quite that pancake, but tiny & impressive nontheless! Price comes in at roughly 400 USD?

For us in Germany DE or Austria AT the upgrade is listed over here: http://shop.panasonic.de/DMW-SFU1GU/DMW-SFU1GU,de_DE,pd.html . Says it ships in about 8-10 days.
-
Well, just beware, prices of those could get out of hand quickly for a good one in nice condition... That's why a brand new mirrorless minded one for a fair price might be a decent start. Seems @Julian had a nice topic on C mounts (actually via http://bmcc.tv/the-vintage-lens-hunt/ ; 'Ebay is clearly the best place to look for lenses': agreed!): http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/2513-blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-c-mount-lens-compatibility-list/

I think I'm going to ask these guys at the New-world store over at AliExpress about these APS-C covering ones: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/CCTV-LENS/736134_260465049.html . Unlike the previous ones (that I have), these are actually supposed to be optimized for mirrorless cameras, without vignetting on APS-C/M43. The blades on the aperture of the 35mm doesn't even look too bad. Hum... - The deal I was able to struck with them: the 8mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm APS-C covering line with 1 x M43 kit (adapter, hood and so on) for 220 USD. So basically 55 USD each. Shipment as per wish with Singapore Post (beats Hong Kong or China Post). Included in the price. Gonna give it a try!
