:'( I am really interested in the Olympus Air thing too, shame it's mushy 1080p.
-
Whatever happened to this? Was it all just a big prank and a joke? Because if Olympus release a 4K now they'd win!
-
The only thing that ever screams video to me is harshly clipped whitey/yellow/cyan/magenta highlights. Now we're mostly past that technical problem for the most part so it's all up to the artists to up their game in what's infront of the technicals! Love the look of Revenant... everything is so wide - reminds me of Terrence Malick's stuff like Knight of Cups.

That GX7 EVF hump and rectangular corner just looks so ugly in my opinion... I prefer the symmetry and sleek aethetic to the GX7. All I wanted was just a 4K update on the GX7, and maybe a 3.5mm jack and a tiltable uppy screen and maybe weatherproofing. This total re-design and 2.5 times price tag is bizarre!
-
Because if I want lightness and portability - I'd rather use the GM5 or LX100. The G7 has all the photography features (minus stabilisation and tilting EVF) plus has 4K. It's bigger and uglier though. The GX8 looks like a worthy successor to the GX7. But it it's also bigger and costs over twice as much,

I love my silver GX7+20mm but I'm ready to let it go in favour of the GX8, or the G7, or the GM5. It takes wonderful images, great camera. Things to note: The EVF in my opinion is also horrible. I notice tearing and rainbowy stutter on it that isn't enjoyable to use. and I never bothered with the in body stabiliser much

LG Digital Cinema Display Review - 4096 x 2160 IPS impresses!
Lammy replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Actually that is seriously tempting. I also want to upgrade to the Note 4 because Display Mate claims it covers most of the AdobeRGB spectrum. And I love looking at deep blacks. Thanks Andrew for the LG Cinema Display review. The backlight and lightbleeds at the bottom put me off too though :\ -
Agreed, this is one thread that didn't need to be made other than to have a last word and to keep provoking the same conversation... the same conversation... which is basically this: "I think we should stand up on domestic violence! PS I'm a great guy, and I believe the women!" "No one said I aint against domestic violence. You know nothing. No evidence that Phil did it. You crazy sanctimonious shit." "I think we should stand up on domestic violence! PS I'm a great guy, and I believe the women!" "No one said I aint against domestic violence. You know nothing. No evidence that Phil did it. You crazy sanctimonious shit." "I think we should stand up on domestic violence! PS I'm a great guy, and I believe the women!" "No one said I aint against domestic violence. You know nothing. No evidence that Phil did it. You crazy sanctimonious shit."

Holy crap, yes! I collect Film Festival short film collection DVDs and I was wowed by how the older ones were shot on film and had amazing stories. Then it got a little crappier looking with the invent of DV. Then it got a little bit better with the DSLR. Now I feel like I've seen everything before and it just seems like to make it in a film festival and get attention requires not only a great story, but A list talent now ontop of the latest 4K camera technology. Either that or the reverse 16mm b/w. Dammit! Seriously, look at the Oscar and Bafta winning shorts over the past few years... even more exclusive now...

I don't see the posts as failing to see the "opposing side" so much as the side he is leaning on is being taken more seriously in weight in the face of personal attacks and Devil's Advocates. The reason why we care and why we have so much discussions is because we all want to be heard. We all have our points of view. There's good reason why most works of art are... well, rather liberal and show empathy. And then there's also a reason why some works are just kind of boring propaganda. These are far more interesting discussions than measurable technical information about dynamic range and ISO sensitivities. But uhh.. I have no idea what we are talking for now....

I am curious to discuss one thing though - about the reaction to lawsuits. SleepyWill suggest it look guilty to do so... I don't think it would. It would just go to show how far someone would go to defend their word risking a shit load of time and money to do so. Damp suggests it isn't always worthwhile... however even if someone has no money, legally they can still be sued and they'd probably have to file for bankruptcy. Or make a donation page or something. Reputation can be everything, and I gave these two examples in the other closed thread: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/jan/02/facebook-defamation-man-wins-lawsuit-over-estranged-wifes-domestic-violence-post http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/the-tweet-that-cost-105000-20140304-341kl.html Now if lawsuits are pushed, I'm afraid the party will lose if they have no evidence to back up their word. Even if one believes one side is absolutely true. It would go back to the original thread about 'Sometimes the Courts aren't enough' and well... it's complicated... mostly because abused victims don't usually think the first thing they should do is collect evidence and leave their abuser...

That design looks like it belongs on a cool robot!

People do strange things. There's always that one attention seeker at networking events pretending to be a hot shot but everyone usually knows. We all have that friend that lies out their teeth to get laid too... But yeah my reaction is usually to find it hilarious or tragic (or both) rather than outright anger.

That's still really inadvisable because now he's thrown up more details that escalate and confuse matters. Why did she have a knife? Was it to defend herself from Philip due to prior "abuse"? To cut herself? What does he mean scuffle? Like a rough and tumble in the school playground or a Skylar vs Walter White? Are people going to drag up phone texts and emails too? By all means a police report and witnesses is good for the courts, but he can still stick to bare facts. Impassioned: "Urgh! Liars. This Sara is crazy, and this other Sarah has a bad memory" doesn't look good! They're genuinely angry? My feed is full of people really finding it funny. Just like that Anna Allen being caught doing faked instagrams.

He did talk about this. Ed rightly addressed that the appropriate response of “I am deeply sorry about this and embarrassed - none of it is true, I am pursuing legal actions. I am sorry for everyone to have witnessed this. Please I am ask for some privacy in this trying time, for me and my ex-girlfriends” was the only good way to go. If someone sided with the women, they would be solidified in believing he abused them after reading his use of language in that statement. Philip's statement is still bad and corroborative and full of extra pointing fingers, extra defamation, largely subjectivity on "passionate arguments" "disagreement", "scuffle", and what appears to be corporate pleading at the end which is grossly inappropriate and looks insincere. It's ugly and poorly written and I wish Philip didn't write that. My reaction so far has been to see how people from the middle or on Philip's side are so strong to attack Ed's stance as well. Can you directly quote Ed "labeling people as sexist, pro domestic abuse"? I'm reading the same threads and I don't see it? Or are you guys white knighting Philip Bloom and just trying to pummel Ed as wrong just because.

I think general boredom and human connections are the most important for inspiration and ideas in narrative work. For all else, this is awesome: www.procatinator.com

I think David was very careful with his words - he said "It could be argued that we all have our right to privacy" and "'internet stars' seem to give up that right.". His point was about reputation, not exactly about losing any rights per say. The accused isn't forced to divulge further information to the media. That's why there's advice to lawyer up before putting the foot in the mouth and why the statement was originally privately emailed. The tabloids like the Sun and Daily Mail are always getting sued left and right by celebrities that do not wish to indulge in any more press and media speculation.
-
I don't think this should be locked. Ed has been quite consistently reasonable and it would have ended on Page 2 if you guys didn't constantly attack the guy's character and stance! If Ed is going to sympathise with the allegations from victims of domestic abuse, fine. If he wants to encourage both parties to file a lawsuit, no matter the cost I'm sure either party can find funding and donations, fine. For every dozen of so cases of genuine abuse it will help. It might be shitty if someone is wrongly accused or justice is not solved in the court, but hey, that was one of his original points. I read it as not to be indifferent and wishy washy. Ed is clearly full measure! Clearly nothing is going to stop him unless there is undeniable proof that both Sara and Sarah are totally lying. And that's going to be difficult when dealing with complicated matters like this.

Yes. Specifically "cunt" and throwing objects at her directly were stated examples of the mental and physical abuse. The alleged bruising explained by, Philip's rather callous use of word, a "scuffle". I see where you're going that both Bill and Phil are accused of wrong doing where accusers took a long time to come forward... but all I'm saying it's strong to put those on the same level as allegedly raping over 17 women!! And I am all for helping you on the documentary if you need. As I said earlier, I am disappointed that there are still people quick to judge and attack Sara. I said people, because at least 2 out of 10 were women... [look at her FB and Kesslar's FB and general Cosby fans...]

Yes, calling each other racist, scum, and stupid really is daft as fuck and doesn't help. The pitfalls of speaking politics and different ideologies in the wrong place... And QMedia, I care. Just last week the popular opinion of a million Top Gear fans wanting petition for Clarkson to stay on. That's pretty good fandom, mind you. Most Conservatives were on the fence, until the report came out, where they then changed their tune to agree with the Left with the inevitable BBC sacking. It's funny how popular opinions can change given information and context. While we can all now agree (as Andrew now with mphillips and damp posted above) that Jeremy Clarkson is at fault... and we can agree that assault is terrible... I can also see the thinking that the BBC really should have had better talent management and avoided this. Well, from a preventative measure at least, still not sure they could have done anything different after the incident. This guy has been on thin ice for over a year, and what they did was extend this season of Top Gear by 4 episodes? Interesting... Oh and I'm also questioning the BBC's reporting on the NHS and Elections too so yez, thanks, think for ourselves indeed.

It's sad times when the most exposure people see of the Kodak brand is just selling cheap AA batteries at Poundland. Walking around the Pinewood lot, at least Spectre and Star Wars are being shot on Kodak film still. Makes me wonder if they were as innovative at making better digital cameras or collaborating with companies like Nikon or Arri may have turned a better route...
