Or I must expose for where the camera says I have correct exposure and if the highlights blow out that's just crappy highlight rolloff.....
-
At last someone properly exposed P4k footage........
-
Still doesn't use the GPU properly. Resolve all the way for me. Instead of just tinkering round the edges with PP updates it needs rewriting from the bottom up IMO.

The viltrox doesnt have a lock screw as the threads are greased so you just adjust and it stays put. You can put some grease ( damping grease) in the metabones to do the same and do away with the lock screw.
-
All focal reducers have this adjustment.

Deleting files 'in-camera' has always been a dangerous practice and can lead to corrupted cards and data which is probably the reason they don't have this feature - or they are simply fascists!
-
If they can't be bothered to add basic features like a pop up flash I highly doubt they will have made any attempts to harden the electronics against radiation so you can kiss your warranty goodbye! Also the crappy plastic body won't protect you from radiation like a metal body from the likes of a proper camera manufacturer like Canon or Panasonic.

BM staff wear black shirts as well - facists! and don't get me started on their lies about shipping times. AFAIK they have made just 10 units so far and don't intend to make any more because they just don't care about their customers. They just suck both in their products and attitude.
-
BM are a fascist organisation - Black Magic / Black Shirt! Also I never wanted this camera but with their stupid low prices they made me an offer I couldn't refuse so not only Fascist but Mafia mentality. Free software and battery are a bad joke. I need free trousers with extra large pocket for this so-called 'pocket' camera to work for me.
-
I am upset there is no pop up flash. For a camera that has stills capability this is a bad decision for a camera at this price point and will put off many buyers. They have not included an EVF to make it more familiar to people who transition from a mobile phone but why then do they not make it go in a pocket like a mobile phone but then lie to everyone and say it's a pocket camera? It's easy for them to give away software as it doesn't cost anything to make and doesn't add any weight to the camera but why do I need software to use this camera when other cameras work fine without it? Also there is no lens with the camera so that is an extra item you will have to buy and I don't see this mentioned in any of the videos. If BM don't make lenses then they shouldn't be selling cameras to people as this is like selling a car to someone without wheels. It seems BM do not care about customers who haven't got a clue.

Never got the point of weather sealing. If it's raining I don't / can't shoot as rain on the front element that would be visible in the image would be a bigger factor that rain ingress into the camera. If I ever had to shoot in the rain specifically I'd use a proper rain cover. How does weather sealing work when you change lenses?

Where was this - that would be a 50% discount

Which is why I'm buying one to complement but not replace my GH5 I will make a judgement call on the image quality when I do my own tests but I am managing my expectations based upon that fact that using the GH5 with an HLG capture and Resolve Color managed workflow I'm not complaining about it's image quality at all.
-
From an engineering standpoint plastic can have advantages over a metal. At current UK prices the GH5s is £1000 more than the P4k. The GH5s doesn't have RAW and doesn't come with a free version of Resolve Studio.
-
It has an EVF which depending on your shooting style could be important.
-
Also a lot of people have the notion that the image quality will be substantially better than the GH5 and GH5s based on the specs and spurious claims about 'color science' or other 'mojo' BM will bring to the table. The GH5 and GH5s produce a very good image both in terms of what it looks like and how the codec behaves in grading so people really need to 'manage their expectations' about the extent of the improvements the P4K will bring about in terms of final image quality. In particular with the GH5s which by all circumstantial evidence shares the same sensor which I haven't see evidence of being intentionally crippled by Panasonic so the improvements are likely to be minor.
-
Why should it look better? I've seem quite a few tests (inc one I did myself) between the internal codec and that recorded via HDMI out on the GH5 and they don't reveal any differences in image quality. What are you expecting to see (or have seen) exactly? The main advantage of a less compressed codec is that it's easier to edit as it doesn't require such large CPU/GPU work to uncompress during playback in an NLE.
-
I've yet to see any compression problems with the 150mbps codec let alone the 400mps one so I'm not sure how the P4K can better it with regards to compression artefacts. I'm not expecting murder or obliteration in other areas either. Such hysterical language doesn't really stack up when comparing any modern cameras.
-
Theoretically it shouldn't as the GH5 outputs a 4k 10bit 4.2.2 400mbps image.
-
Maybe the grade was poor, maybe the person who posted it wasn't interested in the highlights and wanted to see how far the shadows can be pushed. One thing you can be certain of is that unless you shot 2 cameras side by side with the exact same exposure settings you can't say which camera has better highlights.
-
When the scene lighting contrast is greater than the DR of the camera clipping is inevitable - on any camera.
-
RED has a mechanical shutter add on, couple of the BM cameras also have it as does the C700 in the PL version. Tho other cinema cameras have very fast refresh rates that are near enough to global anyway for the effect to be all but unnoticeable.
-
The main reason pro cinema cameras don't need stabilised lenses is not the weight but that with a global shutter camera movement is a lot less irritating / noticable.
-
shock horror - very good m43 camera (GH5) is not significantly outperformed by newer m43 camera! and everyone now wishes they hadn’t sold their old BMPCC which does certain things better than either of them........

Internet forums all over the web are overheating in anticipation of this camera.....
