  1. They just define a quality baseline. Saying that because the Terra is not on the list, might not be good enough is stretching it... Alexa mini is not on the list either
  2. There is no "must be established" requirement from Netflix: Camera Requirements 4K Resolution: •Camera must have a true 4K sensor (equal to or greater than 4096 photosites wide).
Recording Format: • Minimum of 16-bit Linear or 10-bit Log processing
 • Bitrate of at least 240 Mbps (at 23.98/24 fps) recording
 • Recording format must be set to either:
RAW (uncompressed or lightly compressed sensor data)
Log color space (i.e. S-Log3, V-Log, CanonLog3, REDLogFilm, BMDLog, LogC) • No looks or color corrections should be baked into the original camera files.
 • Files must maintain all metadata (i.e. Tape Name, Timecode, Frame Rate, ISO, WB, etc.)
Aspect Ratio / Framing: • Aspect ratios greater than 2.00:1 must be evaluated and discussed with Netflix for approval.
 • Framing chart must be shot before principal photography begins, and processed through the dailies pipeline which will be shared with editorial, post-production, and VFX.

  3. ouch https://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2018/03/02/the-new-low-cost-canon-camera-you-might-have-missed-has-missed-the-mark https://fstoppers.com/originals/canons-4000d-and-race-bottom-photographers-hearts-and-minds-226103
  4. The greatest thing in the X-H1 is the dual audio recording. I don't see it mentioned often enough but I find it extremely useful for one man setups. You can obviously record the environment and with a shotgun have more selective input, but now it is in one package no need for an external recorder. I can even think a bunch of uses computationally that will allow you to further isolate a single sound source. I wish all cameras implement this.
  5. I decided to go with the a7rIII instead of the A7III. Other than the availability & megapixels, in video specifically, the main differences were that A7III has worse rolling shutter but is better in low light and has better resolution in FF. That's all I could find really. I am going to wait until the A7sIII is announced as well (around the time that the A7III would be available anyways) and I might sell the A7rIII for it.
  6. Right @jonpais and additionally the reason that xt2 has a 10min limit and xh1 15 is the overheating so I am not sure that this is a valid argument.
  7. There he compared the difference in rolling shutter between FF and S35 + speed booster and of course the main difference is the faster readout during S35. If that's what you meant then I misunderstood your point.
  8. For me mojo would mean a camera that is simple to operate and gets a beautiful image out of the box. BMPCC has come the closest.
  9. Ha no, I wasn't planning to use the phone for videos I have a camera for that... Would you ever plan to use your phone's microphone?
  10. As much as I like the idea of having a gadget that can do everything, I do hate the fact that it constantly takes my mind off the present moment. How can I then capture it? So going on the opposite side an idea like this is more appealing to me:
  11. The 70 degrees shutter angle was the most probable culprit.
  12. All camera makers have started using premium pricing with higher introductory prices, but that has the effect that prices drop much faster as well. It is pretty typical for used high volume cameras to drop ~30% in their first year and ~50% the second year from their original price. For example, I can get a GH5/E-M1ii for ~$1500 or an X-pro2 for ~$900. Wait a year and the A7III will be a steal.
  13. And you will get the opportunity to test the camera with the Swiss sceneries as well! I am fairly confident you can predict when this will occur, so even if it is not visible in the EVF you can preview the image and reshoot if necessary with a tiny angle adjustment. This is very similar to what Fuji users are doing with the purple grid flare. The first encounter that I had with digital mass hysteria, was with blooming in the Fuji X10. My favorite Fuji camera ever. And even though you couldn't do anything about it, I didn't mind, I loved the thing. I still wish Fuji revives the line but with the variable magnification OVF and not the EVF.
  14. The article says it is improved but still there Also, there is another report that X-T20 still has it: https://***URL removed***/forums/thread/4200339?page=2 My guess is that they optimized the coating of the IR filter to reduce flares which in turn can confuse Fuji's demosaicing? In any case, digital sensors are ... digital so they will always come with some kind of artifact if pushed hard enough. Banding, purple grids, FPN, blooming, PDAF shading, hard clipping, charge overflow, aliasing & moire, jello, green smearing, rf interference, hot/stuck/dead pixels, etc. And I am not even including the artifacts from the processing pipeline.
  15. https://petapixel.com/2017/02/23/fuji-cameras-produce-strange-purple-flaregrid-artifact/
  16. Yep, unfortunately, that is with all current Fuji cameras. A9 has it also and even E-M1 had backlit artifact problems.
  17. Under natural light, there is no need. Under mixed light, I would argue that if you don't set up the WB manually with any camera you most probably going to be in trouble. But again that is with the cameras that I have tried, including the latest generation of Fujis but without the Eterna which is the most promising color for video.
  18. I have no experience with Canon but I am hearing about Canon colors all the time A7s is significantly worse than any of the newer models though. @DjangoThat is out of the cameras that I have tried and once you set the WB and colors settings correctly (or use Andrews color profiles) ...
  19. In artificial/mixed lighting all cameras struggle. Now if we talk about video under these light conditions, then in my experience with Sony, Olympus, Nikon & Fuji once the WB is set correctly, Sony produces by far the best colors. You might say I am a fanboy, but honestly, this is my experience. That is due to the fact that only Sony allows extensive color customization in video (but funnily enough not in stills).
  20. My guess is that it would fare better, so there was no point in including it
  21. I am not sure SOOC skin tones look right with Nikon/Canon is true. I have seen several blind comparisons and they are not as far off as many people believe. To tell you the truth, I don't trust the SOOC out of any camera. Fuji comes closest to being perfect but still, the color needs work to get it where I want. Here is a comparison:
  22. Yeah, I just read that as well. Nice to have options I guess, but I still hate the front heavy design. Not to mention the chances of them releasing an actual e-mount native design some later time of course. I was expecting more so I got kind of annoyed they just extended a tube and updated a firmware.
  23. Yeah that is quite likely but you never know. I was expecting an insignificant A7iii update and look what they came up with...
  24. Sony is competing with itself. The only thing missing is 4k/60p and 10bit so my guess is that's what we ll get. That's what everyone expects as well and if not delivered there will be little incentive to buy the s line.
