New Zhiyun Crane 2 for preorder on BH

Youtube is wrong. Vimeo looks just fine. Noisy but fine, not a macroblocking hell...
-
It was on a near 4K (3440) screen... Uploading here, changed the resolution. Here is another (near) 4K capture: Apparently the main character is about to die from pixel eating bacteria

Vimeo release of the "Near to superstition": Still noisy but much better than the youtube. It looks like youtube sucks most of the quality out of the videos, especially when they have noise, making it the shittiest delivery method. Vimeo: Youtube:

Corporate internet needs you to spend as much time as possible looking at as many ads as possible. And click bait articles work because they target the mass. I have never seen an algorithm optimized for quality, probably because there is no objective method to train them on. It is much easier to use clicks/views which in turn creates these shitholes. That being said, fstoppers seems to offer better quality articles than dpreview, so I am guessing they still have an actual human editor

I never had a big problem with the codec per se, only it wasn't easy to process. If they do go to 10bit, they most probably increase the bitrate as well and maybe the increase the color sampling to 4:2:2. I doubt they will have intraframe coding and most probably it will be XAVC-L 4K as in FS5 which means a new MXF wrapper. My guess is that they will just add 4K 60fps internally in 8bit, and offer a 10bit 4:2:2 output.

Maybe it was a well designed plan to get you to review their filter

Tony must have been drunk in order to claim that contrast AF in D850 is better than phase AF in the A7r II, you can tell by the bad WB The camera store has their review up. Jordan summed it up quite nicely.

I didn't have high hopes for 10bit in the new A*s* but the newest rumor for slog in A9 specifically mentions "only 8bit". That makes me more optimistic for 10bit.

Looks like s-log is coming : http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sony-folk-ibc-unofficially-confirm-s-log-8-bit-coming-sony-a9/

If the final firmware doesn't provide a massive improvement in noise, then yes the C200 sounds like a better deal for this price segment especially if you have canon glass. Panasonic put themselves in the corner with the EF mount, both in terms of lens selection and speedboosting ability.
-
Yep, unfortunately noise is at unacceptable levels during the low light shots. I wonder how GH5 would fair in that type of light.

The problem that you might have with the Sigma is that IBIS needs to know the focal length in order to perform optimally. I am not sure if any of the speedboosters pass that information to the camera and whether the camera is actually using it. If not, then every time you change the zoom, you will have to go into the camera settings and change the focal length which sounds like pain in the ass.. Someone that has this combination should pitch in.

Sexism in Japan is a known problem. And not just there... Fuji (UK nonetheless) had a similar issue few months ago when had a topless female model in a demonstration of GFX 50s. To their credit, I was surprised to see so many female photographers during the X-E3 promotion. And probably they were just 50% so imagine how biased we are that when genders are represented accurately, it pops up like burned highlights. There are plenty of scientific papers showing strong gender bias. Its implicit nature makes it harder for us to perceive it but it is there. Try this test : https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/user/agg/blindspot/indexgc.htm

I don't have the GH5... But if I did, it would be hard to resist using a Sigma 18-35 with a speedbooster

I have compared the RM222 with the new DR100mkIII (amps at least equal or better to DR70D https://transom.org/2016/tascam-dr-100mkii-2/) and I found them about the same. Maybe the RM222 was even a tiny bit less noisy. Given that in the previous link the noise levels of the Beachtek Pro is about the same as RM222, if I just needed a compact amp I would get that and not think about it . OK I will make your decision a bit more difficult: You can find the RM222 used at ebay for the same price, and that offers dual XLRs and a reduced-level safety channel ...
-
Another option would be the Beachtek DXA-MICRO PRO. It offers same noise levels as the RM222 and the Sound Devices MixPre-3.
-
I was just about to suggest the Juicedlink RM222 that offered outstanding performance, but I just found out that the company closed without any explanation. Such a pity. These things are built to last so you could consider buying them from ebay if you can find any.

That example was with the zoom function of 7+. On average, the Pixels produce better images. That is across multiple testing sites not just DXO. Here is one: https://www.theverge.com/2016/10/18/13304476/google-pixel-vs-iphone-7-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-camera-comparison Now if most of the time you use the zoom function, the 7+ is probably better choice.

Interesting Hands On Report From Panasonic EVA1 Event
Don Kotlos replied to BTM_Pix's topic in Cameras
Here is the J. Derango video in which he claims color is close to the Varicams: Elle Schneider (Creative Director at Digital Bolex) is also testing one, but I don't know if that means colors are anywhere close to Bolex. Sure hope so And on the negative side, here are some comments about the excessive noise in the footage above: Again, I ll say that the EF mount was a bad decision. At least they should have made it replaceable. Here is a RED speedbooster: http://www.newsshooter.com/2017/09/14/abt-cine-speedmount-red-canon-ef-mount-with-built-in-focal-length-reducer/ -
Are you using a Cine profile? Some of the Cine profiles use the full 0-255 range, while the display (& zebras) work on the safe zone of 16-235. So you might think you are clipping but only because in camera you visualize a smaller range.

Dual pixel AF, 5 axis stabilization, built in NDs & top handle with XLRs will make those great for run & gun. Expensive but I like it.

Proselytism is & always has been a big part of most religions, even more so in Christianity that has it in the gospel. And for many centuries if you didn't convert you most probably would end up dead, so quite the pressure I would say . And here is one modern version of a proselytism park: http://www.holylandexperience.com/ But on the second point I agree, God is yet another attraction point for wandering souls. The problem is that there is an organized path towards just that point. So if you are proselytized from young age, the likelihood of finding Christ later in your life is far greater than chance. Whether that is good or bad, is another discussion. Spot on. Initially I just went with trolling & drugs, but your psychoanalysis offers a deeper understanding why he might have done those things in the first place.

I recently made that move, but still haven't settled on just one. I do most of my edits on FCPX and move to Resolve only for fancy coloring. FCPX offers great editing experience if you own a mac. Easy, fast & fluid. Thats it. Color grading is a joke unless you spend another $100 on plugins. Resolve shines in color grading, and it is free if the limitations don't affect you. If you mostly do editing and only occasionally grade, then FCPX is a good solution. Even more so if you edit on a macbook pro and you don't have an eGPU. On the other hand if you want to do some serious color grading then Resolve, no question about it. I would say start with the free version of Resolve and stick with it for few weeks. Once you are familiar with it, try the trial version of FCPX and you will be at a good place to decide what fits your needs before you spend your dimes.
