Having the camera for more than a month, I can say I agree with David's review on all the points that he made. And I have been very critical, trying all this time to find a reason to return it. Just can't, its a great camera.

From what I remember if you leave the "fast menu" at the ISO setting then you can activate it by the center button and use the dial to change the ISO. No need to touch the LCD.

Not true. I have done extensive tests and they have the same moire/aliasing. Yep, after having both if your main interest is video I would go with the E-M5ii. Higher bitrate, flat profile, better ibis, peaking during video, fully articulating screen.

The quality of the monitors varies a lot between different models. Matte screes are always preferred for color sensitive work such as grading. You can find tests on this site : http://www.notebookcheck.net/ There are quite few thin and light latops (Dell XPS 15, Asus g501jw, Gigabyte P34/35 v2/v3,...). But if you insist on a latop I would suggest you look into workstation models such as the lenovo P50/P70, Dell M4800/M6800, HP Zbook 15/17 (dreamcolor). These are meant for heavy work and will not sound like a turbine while thermal throttling when you want to process a 4K video (Macbook inlcuded) . Plus they allow for much more RAM and expandable storage. About the prices you can always find very nice deals at ebay.

Correct. For 60p invest in a 4k recorder...

Unless you are planning moving to 4K anytime soon (which is the reason they lowered their prices) then yes you will end up with not only smoother motion but also greater tonal flexibility during grading. You will not notice any difference in resolution but the less compression will give you less macroblocking and finer noise that will make even individual frames look better.

In some cases working in a larger space (at least in bit depth) has some benefits for some effects. Andrew had some examples with noise a while back. 10bit 4:2:2 prores hq should be more than enough extra space. Also now I realized that the 4:4:4 XQ signal is recorded only through SDI that is not available with A7rii. So that makes OPs choice easier...

All you need is the Pix-E5H (not even the pix-e5 since you don't need sdi). You will not see any difference with 4:4:4. It will only cost you more drive space. Now they will be supporting LUTs too so that is going to be very useful since slog2 makes exposure & WB impossible.

good camera for a good price. Keep in mind that you will need an external recorder for 4k but that is better than no 4k at all. Others should weigh in on this.

c100mk2 is a great cam but you are going to be limited to 1080p. Have a look at the FS5 & Ursa mini cameras that will give you more flexibility on the productions that you can take. Very soon you will loose possible jobs if you cannot deliver 4K. In my opinion that's a waste of money. If you want a camera to do photos at that price range you should consider the GH4/NX1/A7rii that all do excellent video as well. Difference between the quality of the pictures is not as much as the internet tries to argue. That is waste of money as well. It might have been fine if you want to be portable and you are working with Final cut, but for everything else get a custom build desktop! You will be editing faster with no need for proxies when you move to 4K...

Thanks for the test. The 1.1 is the top right? Can you check whether the S35 cam be assigned to a button now? That's the only reason I dive into the menu...

I do like the form factor, but the fixed lens with variable aperture restricts it's usage by quite a bit and makes it a hard sell for $2500. Footage looks nice. An interchangeable-lens version would have been great...

Definitely not a cinema camera but you can add a tiny ninja star and get 1080p 10bit 4:2:2 prores HQ when you want to approach cinema quality. That is if the 1080p does not come from pixel binning of course.

Not bad. I have a couple too but they are not as good as yours. If people repeatedly paint a grim pictures of cameras that have never used, does that make them more color sensitive? If people repeatedly are being very loud of the negatives of every camera, does that improve their SNR?

No sorry I used a confusing term. By color depth I meant color sensitivity. Noisier yes, but the noise looks much better. I believe one of the reasons A7rii looks to have lower noise because of the processing/compression. That makes the image more digital. Nope, have not seen any. But again I am not using sharp lenses to shoot urban landscapes in FF mode.

Yes some SDs might be good enough but the majority are using cheap flash which loses voltage over time and might result in data loss.
