Sorry I can't see what you are seeing. To me it looks much better than FF 4K from A7rII or 4K from X-T2 and actually even slightly better than A7sII. Of course it is worse than The A6500 or S35 4K from A7rII/III but unless you are mainly shooting interviews with fine structured clothing I would not worry about aliasing/moire at all.

The 1.7 crop factor from a 6000x4000 sensor means that at best case their sampling a 3530x1985 area and scaling it up to 3840 x 2160, and given the aliasing performance I think they do use all this area. I actually don't think there is a lot of aliasing or moire, probably just the typical from 1:1 sampling with a weak antialiasing filter. And I also don't think that is a problem during normal shooting. The Fuji X-T2 has more aliasing artifacts than M50 for example but nobody complains about it. The softness is typical for Canon and I actually prefer that from a digitally sharpened footage. My only concern for this camera other than the crop factor is the jello. I might be more sensitive to it than others but 4K from this camera should be used only with a rock solid tripod. Here is a tripod that is not rock solid:

My guess would be to save them for A7sIII which looks like it will have the same near-global-shutter performance. I agree, there is definitely a value in separating the video from the photo since not only you get a better tool for each job, but I find it also puts you in the proper mental state. I believe there are a lot of people that were forced to use a hybrid such as GH5s or A7s* strictly for video since there weren't that many choices. But now, or sometime later this year to be exact, with the pocket4K if you don't really need a hybrid then it is a great choice.

Sure, but enjoy the 10 minutes of battery life With the T5 at ~3.40W peak power consumption, the runtime of BMPCC4K when recording would be ~45 minutes.

I guess by "cinema" lens Skybeam just mean MF & declicked aperture with T stops? No mention of breathing or distortion or consistent size or weight balance or focus and aperture location & teeth ... If that's the case I would go with the tested SLR Magic FE cine line, or the hyperprime line for m4/3 which are as small and far cheaper. Then if someone cares about constant size, weight and balance then the Veydra Cine line or therehoused version of the FE SLR Magic that they just announced would be my choice.

If this is true then everyone should ask for it even if they don't need it, or even have a GH5/s for that matter. It would facilitate the democratization of this price segment even more by also putting pressure on Sony or Canon/Nikon if they decide to join as well.

While far from the original pocket size, compared to any professional video cameras that shoot 4K Raw the new pocket could be considered pocketable. Or at least it can fit in a normal camera bag I am quite glad for the increased size compared to the original pocket actually. Proper heat sink, better battery, larger screen, better microphones, dual card slots and plenty of ports.

It's a great update, but it would be better if they had added Eterna instead of F-log. Sad but true.

I wonder if they are just rehoused SLR Magic Cine lenses. In case that is true and there is no need for gears/constant lens size the cine line comes at less than half the price...

My guess it is the same sensor as GH5s and the pocketv2. Also if the spec sheet is correct the bitrate can go up to 1768Mbps on a CFAST card. It still might be just a ghost product and now that the pocketv2 is announced at that price it could remain as such.

There is a guy named LukeDriftwood that claims: "I've just confirmed with an industry source that, Pocket Cinema Camera 4K uses the same sensor as GH5S, the IMX294CJK sensor supplied by Sony Semiconductor." I don't know him or if what he claims is true, but I find it very likely. That mode is not being supported by video cameras for that reason. This is be reserved for machine vision cameras that use this sensor and need this capability. Yes the 1080p is what I am most interested as well since in normal frame rates it is downsampled from 4K. So now in the consumer market we have the GH5/s, A7s* and now the pocketv2 that can produce excellent aliasing/moire free 1080p in camera, but the pocket also offers a much much better codec with little or no sign of digital compression. Not to mention the built in xlr support.

It looks like you can still use the normal 2.5" drives since the connector and protocol are the same, but it will stick outside a bit. The newer sata SSDs have small motherboards so potentially you could change the SSD in the caddy III yourself, or you will have companies that sell just the caddies like they do with caddy II. Yeah the GH5s is going to be affected the most. The preorder queue for this thing is going to be huge. They really went all in.

It will automatically scale down to 1080p from 4K. I will cry.

Here is an interview where Sony admits that there were no sensor/electronic changes in FSII. Only a firmware update. Still the FS5I will remain in the market and the FS5II will be the "big brother". Does anyone remember another company releasing a firmware update as a "new camera" ? I think it would have been much better if they announced yet another payed firmware update with the improved "color-science" or upped the price to $7K but include 10bit/4K 60p.

I didn't see that correlation anywhere, but yes I agree that a "good" 1080p is more than enough. But unfortunately with most cameras in this price segment (other than BM and GH5/s) to get a good 1080p means you have to shoot at 4K and convert to 1080p in post.

I agree. The 4K market between $1000-2500 is now very "rich". We have the hybrids GH5/A7III/X-H1, but then we have the professional-video-oriented GH5s, BMPCCv2 and even the Z-CAM E2.

IBIS is great and can be used professionally but it does not allow for sufficient cooling of a sensor. Increased temperature then not only increases the noise but also in the long term reduces the life of the sensor. One example are hot/stuck/dead pixels which will appear more often. That is why cameras that are meant to be used extensively for many years have HUGE heat sinks behind the sensors. The original pocket that lacked any sufficient cooling already suffered from this and it was the main reason I sold it. So I think it makes sense that the pocket v2 and GH5s do not have IBIS. It also looks that they even added active cooling to the pocket v2.
