  1. It does, also motion in lower exposed areas triggers it and causes some crazy artifacting which isn't codec related. We're all waiting for a patch but at least Panasonic knows about it. Workarounds atm. Don't shoot above ISO1250 or 4000, ETTR, don't touch the 6K codecs (more noise reduction) or even avoid using V-Log which is a pity since color science and dynamic range are fantastic.
  2. What I could imagine what you mean is the strong temporal noise reduction which makes the image sometimes look artificially clean and thin and even creates smearing and ghosting in some situations. Unless we get an option to turn it off, the image won't look as thick as Varicam footage, even recorded externally which basically looks identical (tried recording onto an Odyssey 7Q+ in ProRes HQ).
  3. Hey guys, huge update for users of the 55M Advanced Lut! From now on the P4K Advanced Lut will be called PXK Advanced Lut since the new version 1.5 includes an adapted Lut (and creative Luts) for the Pocket 6K with its slightly different color and gamma. Other improvements made: more compressed skin tones, less yellow hues better handling of strong saturated blues miscellaneous fixes updated creative Luts The update has already been sent to existing customers. Promo code for the Lut (available till 10-08): 3days More info and download: http://55media.net/55m-p4k-color/
  4. Yellows and greens don't clip yet, so there's definitely room for BMD to make things worse. ?
  5. It also will limit the tonality you would have using proper exposure. But on the other hand it will help keeping temporal noise reduction artifacts out of the image on cameras such as the A7sII/A73, S1H/S1, X-T3, E2 etc...
  6. Just received mine. Blue issue has been fixed but ghosting is still there. oh my... some tests from earlier Great color, no sharpening, but temporal noise reduction making skin look like it has been shot at 360 deg shutter... https://drive.google.com/open?id=17B0mlRipdiuG_p3Dg8fwLj-n53ZojieF (download)
  7. Will receive my S1H on Monday and will test it. Let's hope these two issues are fixed. Can confirm that the blue channel issue has been resolved already - on the prototype S1H cameras on the IBC at least.
  8. Another example found on YouTube showing that the S1H has the same ghosting and smear issues caused by temporal NR. Download (4.6GB) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1iehW5LEYlJ87X_RtXQDvvQKu-vEVo-0O src videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXL9QXc2THM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKulJ6EWMJI Further examples showing the same issue on the S1 https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pP3N3uPVIQhYYshomAZGhWJjHsNO0I3L Trying to get some further information tomorrow at IBC.
  9. Somebody interested in trying out the S1(H) port of the 55M Advanced Lut? This was graded using an alpha version of it, made many fixes since then.
  10. Rather have 10 bit logarithmic raw than 12 bit linear. Want that extra dynamic range with a LOG curve :) But in case the readout is 12 bit only I'm fine with 12 bit linear
  11. Pocket 4K BMD Film V4 = blue is slightly distorted but recoverable - but only after converting to another colorspace. Not really a limitation since debayer doesn't provide any more data than that at native readout
  12. Yep, even managed to put all the fixes into a Lut and I think Alex @Sage will go even further with his Lut. But we may see a fix from Panasonic soon and in the meantime shoot HLG and avoid ISO3200 and 6400 and above, 4000 is perfectly fine.
  13. Ironically it's the only profile on the S1 showing this issue
  14. This just happened with my colorchecker in direct sunlight Whenever there's something blue and slightly overexposed in your shot (like objects outside a window) be prepared to run into issues like that. There's no roll-off for blues at all, almost like they did forget about adding it... Original clips https://drive.google.com/open?id=1IlfWM7jDVwh5GMAQk7RnLfp_FCscAojP
  15. Blue content on phones, screens, TVs, Dark blue clothing in direct sunlight Blue LEDs etc
  16. I agree. In the 500-600 range Audix is the way to go.
  17. Really hoping soon, but not expecting. On the GH5 it took quite a while until the issue has been fixed. Let's see what happens. Need the camera in late October for another big project in Ghana...
  18. Whenever V-Log gets updates I would prefer the S1 - even in terms of color. But right now I would prefer shooting on BMD Pocket cameras.
  19. Nope, only V-Log. HLG doesn't have any temporal NR (ghosting) nor gamut issues. Until it's fixed keep using HLG.
  20. Started debugging with Nick Driftwood. Seems like only V-Log is affected. Only V-Log is affected by the strange gamut clipping issue. Wondering what is going on... Seems like HLG is perfectly clean! No ghosting at all. Also no gamut clipping. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pP3N3uPVIQhYYshomAZGhWJjHsNO0I3L
  21. Internal. But external is affected as well since the processing is done before encoding. Already tried it using an odyssey 7q+ recording prores
  22. It's really sad. This camera could've been fantastic. The S1H seems to do the same processing and therefor has the same issues as the S1. That means only recording RAW externally may help...
