I'm so happy. Maybe until they announce the price. lol
-
how is this even possible?? I slapped my face to make sure this is not a dream.... lool

Shut up and take my money!!!

I'm dying. Samsung does everything better, only too much sharpening - which sucks, but yh, Apple still behind. Can't wait for the Samsung S8 then.
-
The guys at hdvideoshop in Berlin while I was on the IFA already told me, we have to wait until October for the first Terra 5k samples. And didn't even have any Kinemax 6k cameras anymore. Nothing on stock... Crazy Will be at this years Photokina on Sep. 22th, too, Can't wait for the GH5 which may hopefully arrive (at least as a prototype).

This one actually looks great. I bet they used the usual tricks (no sharpening no nr in camera, sharpening and grain added in post), to make it look like that.
-
Nah, for me it's not. Since july this year I don't even have any HD screen at home or work, lol. Watching HD material is fine with proper upscaling through madvr, as long as it isn't Canon HD (most Canon DSLRs don't even resolve full SD resolution in 1080p...) Color is not a problem for me. Never had any problems grading Sony, Panasonic, RED, Canon, ARRI or other footage.

Only used the Tamron 24-70 2.8. Great lens.
-
Already did, trailer included. On page 2. ;-)

Pretty much what I did. Almost no banding. After grading really nice and saturated colors with great skintones and rolloff.
-
Producing great color with the a7s II isn't that hard, You need great grading skills though. This was shot using slog 2 + slog 3.gamut (saturation to max and sharpness to -7), so most of the 8 bit range is kept, while still having a nice rolloff. Skintones were very hard to correct (completely green, thanks to the leaves). But results are great, achieved a really colorful look. Didn't use any LUT. Was shot in London, Epping Forest.

Sony FS7 Review – Shooting 150fps in the dead of night
deezid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
First time I've been using this camera. Call me impressed! The dynamic range is nothing but incredible. -
After a long time, I finally produced a new short movie. This time with the Sony FS7, probably not the last time. Coming from a RED Epic, I have to say: The dynamic range is incredible! Shot in CineEL S-LOG 3, 4K 24P. Color graded in Davinci Resolve. Only used small LED lights.
-
Why are people always confusing resolution with sharpening artifacts (which NX1 does plenty even with sharpness down at -10)? I think if Samsung add a LOG mode with post processing completely turned OFF, the NX1 will actually rock! Nowadays better go with GH4 (v-log -5/-5, external 10 bit), a7SII (PP9, Slog3 Sgamut 3.cine), a7RII (SLOG2, Cine Matrix) , BMCC, BM Pocket, Canon XC10 (C-LOG), RX10 II or RX100 IV (SLOG2, Cine Matrix) etc... for a filmic, non artifally sharpened output!
-
So detail (and lots of artificial sharpening) make the better camera... Really? Dynamic range is much worse, sharpening halos, colors are worse (just look at the greens) etc.

Another example using a fake LOG converter ;-) https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1R6ZTXLRjcfb2QtcWVhZnZCWlk/view?usp=docslist_api

New EOSHD setup guide gives Samsung NX1 LOG capability and more
deezid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Cinematic is definitely the wrong term here. Looks oversharpened as hell and has a strange magenta cast. At least no burnt out highlights. -
Some amazing new footage from GH4R https://vimeo.com/138470590

really?? Skintones are completely off with their own LUT. Crazy... -

Reminds me of my work I did with the GH4 (d-LOG) Cinelike D to LOG to LUT of your choice http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?36957-dLOG-(a-vLOG-replacement-somehow) -
fiddling around with master pedestal will definitely give you banding and crappy skintones (less midtone information). Setting Master Pedestal to anything higher than 0 won't give you more dynamic range but it won't use the full 8 bit codec anymore. 0-255 will use the full codec, 16-235 won't. The settings mentioned by @Sekhar are already the best you can get for most situations. ;-) I would even recommend using a higher saturation value such as +2. It still won't be oversaturated but you will have much more information to work with in post production ;-)

Shootout of the 4K flagships - Canon 1D C versus Samsung NX1
deezid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The 1DC footage looks incredible, Better than anything else Canon has ever produced! -
Worked with red epic since 2012 a lot of times. But it didn't look like cheap canon DSLR footage... The C300 mk2 footage looks great to me though. But XC10 simply isn't worth its price and easily outperformed by much cheaper cameras!
