Mmm, are you really sure?
-
Poor dear, I hurt your feeling, it seems. I'm sorry, if it was just a screenshot why were you so sure? Next time, you would better think twice before judging what someone do, ok? I've already said thanks for the DNG, so please, watch your mouth, my dear friend. Instead of blaming me you could just say "I was wrong", simple and honest, not difficult at all. Peace

I've received today update from BM, also my Pocket is faulty according to them, they are sending me a new one! Well, nothing to say about their customer service, awesome, I will definitely be with them for a long long time! And I think that this is the perfect answer to this: I think I'm done here.
-
Interesting, thanks for posting, it seems cleaner than mine at first look, now BM has my camera and I can't do any test anymore.
-
Bad news!!! Here's another with a good pocket, I can't wait to have mine fixed back!
-
I don't have a Micro, just a Pocket and as I showed to Blackmagic my footage they told me to send the camera to them, this is to answer to other professors here who know for sure that my camera has not any problem, all judging from a screenshot. Amazing, no, wrong word, ridiculous fit better!

I think that all of you, dear professors, are not familiar with the concept of "Stress Test". It's pretty simple, you test something in an exagerated way to see how far you can go before it breaks, think about helmet or crash tests for example, they push to the extreme to see how far they can go, to determinate the limit of an object. That's exactly what I've done, is strange that all of you, shining minds, can't catch it. As I said already, vertical pattern noise is present all over the image in ANY LIGHT CONDITION at iso 1600, more visible in the shadows or underexposed images of course, still there at iso 800 on my camera, but less pronounced. I've just pushed to show it more clearly, seems obvious to me. And this is not normal at all! Normal is noise at high iso, not a full grid of vertical lines, my test is to point out the problem, should be clear even for the luminaries of this forum. Here's someone less professor and more smart!
-
I agree, the noise is more organic than all the Dsrls I've ever used.
-
Relax guys, I know what I've done, it's just a stress test,I didn't want to awake the professor inside all of you, keep calm! And as I said, even with more light is clearly visible at iso 1600 and even at 800 when you look at the footage of course, here is just a still image.
-
It's more than a bit I'm afraid
-
Right now is clearly visible in dark enviroments with contrasted zone at iso 1600,is still there at 800 but less pronounced, in different conditions is extremely difficoult to find, fortunately. But it's not acceptable anyway. Here's a little test of the problem, but in still images is less visible than in motion.
-
I agree, their cameras are cheap and they have the best image available, even spending 3 or 4 times more you can't have that look. Anyway their customer service seems very friendly and helpful, maybe my camera is more prone to that problem, I hope they can fix it or replace it, we'll see.

I've just switched from sony a7s to BMPCC, just for that incredible cinematic look that's impossible to achieve with the sony, despite being a better overall camera reguarding reliability. I've sent my pocket to them a couple of days ago, let's see what they will do. But there's one thing for sure, we all have to complain to them!
-
I've recently bought an used BMPCC and discovered this problem too, it's clear at iso 1600 but also at 800 is there. How can anyone be so calm and quiet about it? It's simply an horrible problem, it destroys the wonderful image this camera can produce in low light, it's a total shame, why nobody is complaining about it? I've just written to BM and ask for a solution, it's unacceptable. People make a lot of noise complaining about things like the old sony a7s black hole sun, or the artificial blu light problem but this is definitely worse! We all should ask them a serious solution!!

Hi guys, I've just got an Atomos Ninja Star external recorder to use it with my Sony a7s but I have a problem and I can't find anywhere a solution. The record functions work fine, I can trigger the recorder from the camera button, it records with no problem on the Cf card but when I press the camera playback button to see what I've recorded I got a black screen. When I press the play button on the recorder I can see the thumbnail of the clip recorded for less then one second on my screen, then again black. How could it be? I am using an Atomos hdmi cable, the files are also recorded in XAVCs on the camera card, so I am supposed to see them, than why the black screen? Please help me, if you can link me a full sony a7s setup guide would be perfect too, if there's a solution inside of course. I hope someone out there is using my same setup and tell me a solution, would be awesome, thanks.

Well, after almost 2 year of d800 I just had the courage to switch to the sony a7s, cause I want more quality (speaking of video of course) and cause nikon don't seem to have interesting solution with the new d810 and d750. Now Andrew came out with this test, and I'm really confused. Do you really think the d750 has the same image quality of the sony or it's just a matter of simple editing operations? Yes, nikon colours are really beautiful, my d800 had the same richness and intensity, and it's very easy let them "sing" in post, but the detail level is really another story in the a7s, in normal and in low light condition, judging from what I see on line of course. Even in this video, I see beautiful colours, but the details of the image remind me just a good, dear and old dslr video, the sony seems really different to my eyes, more advanced, more c300-fs100/700 like. Andrew, why don't you feed us with a useful direct comparison? Even screenshots would be interesting and useful, I'm really confused and curious about that. We understand well that the sony a7s it's a bit difficoult to manage, especially in post, but beside this, would you really take a d750 over a sony? I mean, can a d750 make images like this?

Nikon D800 hacked with 50Mbit/s high bitrate video option

And where did I say something so stupid? I was speaking about real paint vs digital paint, a precise question, you can't extend that logic to whatever you want, this is really a dumb post. I'm not against the progress, I never said that, I just said that there are things, like painting, that should remain like they are. Digital art is another thing and it will never replace real painting, simple. Is it so difficult to understand? -

That's the saddest future perspective ever made! I hope to die before! We are humans and one of the best thing we ever made is Art. A real paint is a real paint, a future oled 5000000k touchscreen paint will never be the same. How could you even thinking something so horrible? A paint is something real, real colours on real surface, real light, real shadows, not pixels under a glass surface, not bit and megabytes, not a stupid files to share on Facebook, what a f$%k! The touch of an artist, how he use the brush, the mix and use of colours, is something you can never never and never have with digital garbage. But the real big question is why? Why use screens? To "carry all your equipment on your pocket when leaving" ? WHAT??????? Perhaps smartphones and social networks are making people crazy, I don't know. A world of lazy men unable to use their eyes and brain to get focus with an optical viewfinder, as the greatest photographers always did. Lazy painters with tablets instead of astonishing canvas big as a window or more, that's insane. Did you ever see a real paint? Did you ever have a closer look to see and feel all the brushstrokes, to feel the smell of the colours? Have you ever been in a museum in front of a paint, staring and thinking for a while? Can you really imagine the Picasso's Guernica on a screen???? This would be the death of the Art, only flat experiences in a flat world, the only idea makes me cry. You want an automatic life for stupid automatic people, it's really really sad what we are becoming. No more humans, just smartphone docks made of flesh. Did you ever wonder why hand made food is so good? Well dont' ask yourself, live for ever in a McDonald's with your iPhone and be happy... -
Nikon D800 hacked with 50Mbit/s high bitrate video option

I understand that you come from a digital world, but personally, speaking about photography you can't say that is "time to move on", it's blasphemy to me. My two cents, the analogue part of the digital dslr's is the link to the real and pure photography, see in a evf or lcd what your photo will be before doing it it's like killing one of the finest art. What about the ability to choose the right parameters of a shot? What about learn to shoot? What about skills? What about be a true photographer? Come on! You want a screen where you can adjust all in real time until you got your photo, but thats' too easy, a flat and useless experience, where's fun? Where's learning form mistakes? Where's mystery of shooting? Where's photography???? Years and years and years of history, myth, art, magic, all through a glass hole, is something unique, really I don't understand all of those complains. You can't say that one of the best photographic tool out there is "archaic" because is a real photo camera and not a toy for tourists with EVF. So no more real painting, just touchscreen and photoshop? Cause you can fix your mistakes, push undo button, use presets and plugins and so on? That's the same logic of what you said for photo! You should read Susan Sontag, On Photography, it's a great book to understand the real meaning of photography in the past and in the future. Speaking respectfully, I totally disagree with you. But I understand, that's a video blog, we should speak just about video. I'm with you, I think that it's real time to move on, a cut with all this technical stuff, better think to make something beautiful and artistic that following the technological perfection. -

Don't ask me, that was a comment to the Andrew words about the d800. I love optical viewfinder for stills, it's super accurate and to me it's the classic and only way to go for stills. Indeed, the d800 has one of the best optical viewfinder in the world and it can't be used for video. The lcd can be adjusted to match the output files, I use it without problem with a cheap viewfinder as I said. -

The optical viewfinder, the only viewfinder of the last 100 year and more, a hole to another world, the photography, something so mysterious, so charming, it "doesn't give you an accurate representation of the image"????? How could you kill a myth?? For an EVF and articulated LCD!!!!!! Noooooo!!!!! :o -
Nikon D800 hacked with 50Mbit/s high bitrate video option
giostrante replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Definitely you should read a couple of times what other user writes before posting something, trust me. I was talking about iso and dynamic range in the h264 files, nobody was talking of raw video, especially in the d800, because there's no raw video on the d800, so there's no video workflow with 36 mp file, it' s pretty simple. You complained about "the hassle of ultra-large files" of the d800, so a matter of disk space. So talking about raw video, where 64 gb is 10 mintutes of footage, well, it make no sense. Also this is pretty simple. -

I don't think so, mirrorless cameras, even the full frame Sony series, are still not good enough for serious photographic works, it's a fact, they are slow and not reliable like a professional DSLR. And we have to see what the A7s will do in the real world, cause at the moment the full frame look is only on a dear old reflex. So at the moment, the only possible choice for a professionist that work with photo and video, like a reporter for example, is still a "zombie" camera. And I think also that this next Photokina will reveal some surprise. We'll see! -

Of course I know there's noise reduction, but only in the second part of the test, pay attention. The difference in dynamic range and consequently in ISO is what I'm talking about, and it's pretty clear. And I'm not even considering the terrible magenta dominance of canons! Well, assuming you're not the father of Usain Bolt or Lebron James, I think that you could use 4fps as well!!! ;) Indeed... -

But don't forget that canon and nikon have different ISO value, cause of the different dynamic range. A 5d at ISO 1250 is like a d800 at ISO 640. Look! ;)
