Hi, these are my two ursa mini 4.6k recent test videos:

Fine resolution settings - i mean there is ability to change recording resolution in smaller steps, around 30 pixels or so.. Normally it was 2880 x something and next 3540 x something, now you can choose many options in between. So you had continous 2880 and than couple of seconds of 3540. Now it is very nice to adjust horizontal resolution precisely. I use 5d3 and it has no problems with pink artifacts, i dont know about 7d but i think it doesnt have fully working version yet. And i use old version of mlvfs on pc - the one with pismo, i just quick-mount mlvs and open them in resolve, no extracting.

I have done some measurments of recording times with the newest build (with fine resolution settings) Everything tested with 24fps 10bit on 5d3 113, CF sandisk extreme pro 128gb 160mb/s. 1320 is the maximum vertical resolution for 5d3 when recording raw video. 3168x1320 2.40:1 (1.81x crop) - 14 sec 3104x1320 2.35:1 (1.85x crop) - 18 sec 3104x1298 2.39:1 (1.85x crop) - 21 sec 3008x1280 2.35:1 (1.91x crop) - 38 sec 3008x1258 2.39:1 (1.91x crop) - 56 sec 2976x1266 2.35:1 (1.93x crop) - 60 sec 2976x1246 2.39:1 (1.93x crop) - 123 sec 2880x1226 2.35:1 (2x crop) - continous And wider aspect ratios - just for fun: 3520x1320 2.67:1 (1,63x crop) - 6 sec 3296x1320 2.50:1 (1.74x crop) - 12 sec Now I would like to see the comparison: 5d3 vs 5d4 - raw 10bit 3008x1258 (quite usable recording time - 56 sec) vs MJPEG 8bit 4k. Not so much different crops - 1.91x 5d3 vs 1.7x 5d4. Similar bitrates. That would be very interesting.

Exactly, 10 and 12 bits are just a great tools, for me ability to shot 14bits and then drop to 12bit to record 50fps continously with 16:9 aspect is just great. I have also tried 65fps and get 12 seconds of 10bit raw 65fps 16:9 - it would be just a great addon in situation when 37% slomo is needed
-
I will do this little bit later, i expect there will be less ability to recover shadows/highligts especially in 10 bits - but as a tool - 10bit is gladly welcome. I am very excited because of usable 50/60 fps in 16:9 aspect. There are also 11 and 13 bits settings, i have to also try them.

I am testing this on 5d3 113. I am really shocked, with the old PC mlvfs (with pismo) 10 and 12 bits works like a breeze I am using resolve 12.5, sometimes only the first frames are corrupted but the rest is perfect. 10 and 12 bits recording is really a huge boost in recording times. The most important and useful modes for me now: 1920x648 (1920x1080 16:9 after desqueeze) 50 fps 12bit - continous - (previously only 2,35:1 was continous) 1920x648 (1920x1080 16:9 after desqueeze) 60 fps 10 bit - 25 sek 1920x1080 37 fps 12 bit - 13 sek 10 bit - continous 2560x1320 25 fps (max vertical resolution available) 1.94:1 aspect - 10 bit - continous 2880x1226 2,35:1 25fps 10bit - over 2 minutes 24 fps 10 bit - continous I checked those recordings in resolve and sometimes there are first and last frames corrupted but no problems during clips.

Hi, I shot this recently, what a beautiful place to visit!! BMPC4k with glidecam DGS, canon 16-35f2.8 L II, canon 70-200 f2.8 IS II L, sigma 24 f1.8. Cheers

Just testing my new camera. Glidecam DGS works great with it as well as samsung 500GB evo850 SSDs.

@DBounce - could you please share some straight from the card footage from 1dxII? Thanks
-
Could anybody who has 1dxII share couple seconds original file straight from the card (dropbox or something) - some high DOF with details like out-of-the-window view: -1080p h264 24 or 25 fps - the same view 1080p 120fps -the same view 4k dci 25fps The camera is couple of days here and we still lack original files for download, only YT/vimeo compressed samples.

DBounce, what about 1080p FF 24/25p mode? Is it any better than 5d3?
-
Ohh, thanks for the info, it is strange, bitrate of 120fps 1080p should be lower than 4k60p so it should be able to write it to CF. Hmm..
-
Wow, that is really great. So it means that there is no need to buy expensive Cfast cards now, can wait for significant price reduction while still using existing CF cards. What about 120fps? No problems with CFs?
-
Guys, this is important for me - please tell how many seconds it is possible to record on fast CF card (like sandisk 160mb/s) 50 and 60fps 4k until the buffer is full? If it is at least 10 seconds - it would be great, i have bunch of fast CF cards for my 5d3 with ML and need only short sequences with 4k 60p.

Canon 1D X Mark II high ISO and colour performance worse than predecessor

I dont get it. "The same shit" gives nicer images than all those ultra modern, high spec (sony) stuff. How it is even possible? -
800mbit is not much bigger than 660mbit of 5d3 raw, this amount of data is certainly manageble. Besides 1dxii can record 4k 24/25/30 and 1080p 24/25/30/60/120 to cheaper (but fast) CF cards, CFast is needed only for 50/60p 4k.

Squig, what settings you usually use with auto ETTR in ML? (if you use it) It is a little bit hard to tell how much one can blow out the highlights to recover it i post later, so i usually expose to keep all the highlights (and when using AETTR highlight ignore is 0,1%, midtone and shadow snr are off). What is your opinion about 5d3 raw vs 1dc/1dxII 4k mjpeg on just image quality? Both seems amazing (i used 550d and 6d both with ML and now 5d3 for 3 years, i love it) but i wondered if anybody who use 5d3 with ML a lot (like me) and is familiar with all the features and the very recent workflow would change 2k raw for 4k mjpeg? I am constantly tempted by DPAF and 120fps 1080p but i think that at the end of the day i would cry after leaving raw back to 8bit compressed (great looking though).

5d3 raw with the fast CF card (i use sandisk extreme pro 160MB/s) can shoot continously 50 fps with 2.35:1 aspect ratio. 50 fps with 16:9 gives about 10 seconds, 48fps - 14 sec, 60 fps just 5 second bursts with 16:9 and 13 sec with 2,35:1. Recently i tested 2:1 aspect (looks cool) and 50fps - 18 sec, 48fps - 32 sec, very usable IMO. Everything with sound and global draw ON (all on screen stuff ON), with sound off and GD OFF recording times can be a little bit longer. I shot this sime time ago, 50fps 5d3 raw, testing new 70-200 f2.8 lens so often lack of focus unfortunatelly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEabzplnmhY

Mattias, how would you compare LS300 to 5d3 ML raw as far as pure image quality goes? Did you try speedbooster on ls300?

Yesterday i shot some family sunday walk, everythihg shot with glidecam, the camera was mounted on it all the time, it helped to stabilize also the more static footage as well as comfortably carry all the set around. I cannot imagine taking ronin with me for such an occasion, playing with settings and batteries, walking with it through crowded streets, to the park, I would feel like a dork with all the people around staring at me. Most people treat glidecam as a strange monopod. Recorded with 5d3 in ML raw format, two or three shots have warp stabilizer applied at 1-5 %, rest of them are straight from the glidecam.
