Hopefully it has some kind of scaling or aspect ratio option. I shoot anamorphic a lot, and this could add to my decision on purchase. It would suck if I have to use both my DP6 and Shogun due to lack of anamorphic support.
-
True but I'm not in the market for the isco 36 or 54. Those are ridiculous expendive
-
I'm sure someone here has one for sale. I got cash ready, and not trying to spend $1000 on one either. Let me know ya'll!
-
Well how much should they be worth spending? I do agree $1,000 is a bit steep.
-
@cosimo murgolo It's a real anamorph, HUGE difference being single focus, and being able to rack focus with ease. My 2x lens dual focus, I'm fed up with it already. Lol
-
The iscomorphot 8/1.5x are single focus lens. It's mean't to work with apsc sized sensors along with s16, m4/3, etc. they will work with this lens no problem according to what I've read here in the forums. I don't shoot with a full frame anymore, so it's not a concern for me.

The coating though on the front lens is iffy for me.
-
Cool, ill check it out

Hey all, I'm searching around and on ebay as well. If there's anyone selling an Iscomorphot 8/1.5x in good to excellent condition! Please let me know! PM me, or email me at reortiz702@gmail.com. Thanks!

Had one for quite awhile and used many times. 1080p/60fps, pro audio features, super 35 sensor, good low light among other things. Image quality is great, certainly better than DSLRs from Canon and Nikon. But definitely not better than the GH2/3/4 cams. My biggest gripe on why I sold mine, was the highlight roll off. It's all the way bad, despite how much adjusted Lighting, etc. Highlights would tend to blow out almost all the time. That was just to annoying for me. I dont regret it, but i moved on to better cams. I say rent one out, and get a feel for it first. The make your decision based on that. Good luck!

Now I may have to reconsider updating to the new version!
-
Does the new FCPX version allow for custom project sizes?
-
You can't stretch in FCPX, just squeeze unfortunately. Another way would be to use Apple Compressor and create a custom project size and import that into FCPX then you'll be able to use a stretched format.

Alright guys, sorry for the long wait. So here's a quick test I just did earlier today using my GH4, Isco 2x, 55mm, SLR magic 0.33x and 1.33x diopters. I can honestly say, it definitely makes a huge difference for close focus, and it's very sharp. I'm very satisfied about purchasing these. SLR 1.33x diopter SLR 0.33x diopter

For me when I shoot in 1080p, I edit in Vegas Pro or FCPX though. I either use a stretched format of 3840x1080 and render it out. Or use a squeezed format and render the video to 1920x540. This if your filming on a 16:9 sensor with a 2x anamorph lens like I do. Hopefully this might help you, unfortunately i don't have any experience with Premiere Pro. Although I should though! I even apply the same techniques on my BMCC, GH2, GH4K but with GH4K I can either do a 4K, 2K, or 1080p.

If I had the $$ I'd get both, but if I had to choose. Then I would get the BMCC hands down, it's fairly inexpensive to purchase, new or second hand. If you need slow-mo above 60fps, just rent the FS700, shouldn't cost much at all to rent.

About to buy a GH4 but... but how bad is this noise problem?
raf702 replied to Lasers_pew_pew_pew's topic in Cameras
Audio is the least of my worries, there's already several work arounds. Such as setting the internal mic to -12db, when using an external mic. Using lav systems, pre-amp setup like a juicelink/beachtek, or simply using an external/separate recording setup like a zoom h4n, tascam etc. I personally use my Beachtek Premp with an Audio Technica XLR mic without issues. I never really use the internal mic, unless I have no other options. But I typically use the internal mic as a reference guide and not much for anything else. -
I'm thinking of looking into c-mount lenses too. But not sure what works with the GH2-GH4 and bmcc.

If you can afford full frame you should look into the 6D or 5D-3 or new A7S. If not GH3, GH4, BMCC, etc. would be good options.
-
Nice vid, sharp anamorph lens too. What c-mount adapter did you use with this? And did you modify the c-mount lens as well?

I found a useful article in regards to Achromats vs Close ups. http://fuzzcraft.com/achromats.html
-
Sorry I'm confused, are you guys referring to the Ninja Star or Blade? That the test video was recorded with.
-
I'm downloading that clip right now. Im assuming it's recorded in 1080p 10 bit 422? I can only imagine how 4K will look if the 1080p video is that good.
-
This is a tough decision, I've already placed my order for the GH4 end of May but still on backorder. The main selling point for me among the other great features is the internal 4K recording. Having it at my disposal anytime is a huge plus, even if I don't use it now for my current work. The A7S on the other hand is a beast, but using an external reocrder for the 4K that cost about nearly the same as the camera is a gripe for me. I'm still sticking to the GH4 purchase, but will certainly keep an eye out on the A7S.
