  1. If you want the sleekest and most specialised solution for a range of different lenses Redstan is your best bet. The others aren't far behind, though depending what you want. I prefer the specialised solutions rather than a one fits all mentality.
  2. Stick to the 4 R's, Tony knows the score.
  3. Apple phones suck way harder than apple computers... still it's a decent battle none the less. I've always used Apple, I got angry recently with how crap they are going now and thought about switching systems, used Windows again and asked myself what the hell I was thinking. Resolve 14 with MLVFS is great for my uses. If you were Donald Trump you wouldn't know how to edit a video so which system you have would be mere semantics.
  4. As above, I don't know many people who would consider a 5D3 a novelty... takes a way better picture than a m43 sensor, it's multi purpose and better low light abilities are a big thing for some people. Anyway, how many people here are actually making a proper living off this stuff? I'm just shooting test vids . What is windows?
  5. MLVFS. Feel like I'm beating a dead horse around here. Works better than GH5 4K 60p files imo. GH5 certainly has some nice features (and I may just get one in the future) but I don't think this thread proves that GH5 = MLRaw, just that you can get a similar colour out of it (you could do the same with any camera if you spent the time).
  6. Yep... people who have never shot it. They probably read a 5year old Cinema 5D (or similar) article about it and haven't given it a go. With MLVFS it's actually eaiser than shooting with GH5 4K 60p files because they edit seamlessly and without any conversion . But hey people (like me) have only said this over and over again on this forum and other places (MLforum)... people just don't listen.
  7. 5D has much nicer colour imo, wasn't too hard to spot.
  8. Vid Atlantic is a step up ring/ macro extension tube with a few holes and screws in it (I actually can't believe people buy them for the price they are you can make for a few dollars if you want). Get a Raf if you want the most cost effective solution. I'm not sure what you are talking about Re: Raf... He makes a ton of different adapters and can do custom jobs for the same price usually. If you don't like something about the clamp just tell him and he will change it. Both Raf, Rapido and Rectilux had stella service in my cases, I highly recommend.
  9. Vid Atlantic is a pile of crap. Check Rapido, Raf, or rectilux if not Redstan. All 4 offer great solutions.
  10. 1.33x, shoot under f4 likely to get square bokeh, average flares... remind me what the drawcard for this thing is at 500 dollars again?
  11. I went from FC to PP to DR. Still happy with my choices, but I'm not a pro.
  12. You can use 4K crop mode which ends up almost the same crop as GH4 4K and is still actually 4K (or so a few of my friends have said).
  13. For sure 10-bit is a benefit, no question there, but it's not what I know a lot of people thought it was going to be, nothing like the grade-ability that you have on these other cameras they compare it to. In reality 10-bit makes these cameras such as GH5 what they should be, a camera that actually works well with it's included features (Log etc.). I'm sure they could have included 10-bit a while ago but everyone is more focused on another couple K of useless pixels.
  14. I don't understand why people always bring up the "you can shoot something good with any camera!" argument... I'm sure most people here get that and if they don't there's really no point telling them that. Point being cameras DO make a difference, doesn't matter if you're a newbie or award winning producer... if cameras didn't make any difference no one would bother buying a new one and films wouldn't bother shooting with such ridiculous rigs. Yes, some cameras have little added benefit, but that benefit is also personal preference, one mans trash could well be another mans treasure... People saying things like "If you can't make GHX look filmic you're doing something wrong" are merely ignorant.
  15. I've seen some stuff that looks pretty nice, pretty good for hyper-realistic blogger type shots. I saw a Jon Olsen vid where I thought the colours at least looked way better than anything I got from GH4 (skin wise). However I'm not sure that it's the camera that a lot of people focusing on the "10bit" part expect it to be though. I mean shoot 10bit MLRaw then shoot even 14bit (or even 12bit) and see the difference, it's huge (and that's in a non-compressed Raw type set up so the difference will be even bigger in a compressed h.264 type setup) I just don't think the 10bit part is going to give most what they expect (something like bmpcc or whatever). All I can say is; use the right camera for the right job. For quick edits with little fuss (probably most corporate stuff) GH5 should be a fantastic cam for most.
  16. Agreed. GH4 had it and was one of the reasons I stopped shooting with it, motion always looked very "digital" imo. Not sure if GH5 has it as I haven't really looked. As people said I don't think it's to do with sensor size though, more to do with the processing and compression pipeline Panasonic employs.
  17. I'm in the same boat, bought a new computer so I can edit more, will have to wait till end of year or so. I keep seeing 5Diiis going for great prices back here in AUS and I just hope that this new ML developments don't push the prices up... hopefully I get an even better deal by years end. 5Diii solves a lot of issues for me needing a great photo and video camera to travel with in the one package. I have 7D now and love the Raw so can only image the 5D looks amazing.
  18. Yep, very similar FOV. Those vertical flares are pretty weird though (I assume from converter glass), converter also looks to be adding softness which is to be expected. Could be ok in certain scenarios though.
  19. Guess so, 37mm rear threads. But I assume such a small lens will induce stop down effect, also bokeh likely to be bad shape wide open (square) if there is any.
  20. I bet you could use a wider taking lens and no WA converter and it would almost be the same but better quality image.
