    Some still images I shot in francisco with the Lumix 20mm f1.7 ii w/ tiffen black satin 2 filter
  2. @Arikhan yeah dude I may take a gamble with the sony a6500 as a second camera instead of only owning the gh5. I agree no one will ever complain about 4.2.0 8 bit. I do a lot of color grading and haven't experienced any crazy artifacts with the sony a7s, or rx10ii so im confident I will be able to get some good footage out of the a6500
  3. Im starting too come to grips with that as well. I wanted to upgrade to a sony a6500 or panasonic gh5 from my Panasonic G80 but honestly I may end up keeping the G80 and get the a6500 as well. One for the full frame look with speedbooster and the other for a super 35mm look with speedbooster. Im finding it hard to believe that my clients will notice the difference between 8bit and 10bit 422 when they've been going crazy over my 4:2:0 8bit footage for years. Maybe if I worked on some crazy netflix production but then again...people have been getting away with canon 5d mark iii footage on the big screen

    @Matt Kieley I never ever stack filters ! I would recommend you avoid mixing diffusion by stacking filters. I prefer the warm black pro mist in lighter grades (1/4 & 1/8) for my personal work because I don't mind the highlight blooming. I only use the satin and black satin filters when I want a more "invisible" unobtrusive look to the diffusion.

    The pro mist filters are good just underexpose a little. The higher the exposure the more the image will flare when using this type of diffusion

    @Bizz 1/8 & 1/4 warm black pro mist are amazing for skin tones. It even fixes the skin tones on sony & panasonic cameras. Throw them on a contrasty lens and the look is incredible ! I honestly wouldn't wait up on the black satins if I had the opportunity to use the wbpm
  9. The higher the bitrate the better ESPECIALLY with flat footage like the sony cinegamma's or panasonic cinelike d. Like @Andrew Reid said you get better looking grain amongst other stuff. Its very important to have your source footage contain as much real information as possible. All of my work is being outputted to 1080p I use Convert V4 to downscale my 4k 100mbit files to 422 DNXHD 10bit and it looks pretty good to my eyes. Maybe that will help your workflow

    The black satins don't increase in flare as you go up in grades the resolution reducing element just gets more intense. A good neutral look like the bpm 1/8 would roughly be around the 1 & 2 grades of black satin. Good luck getting your hands on one though tiffen is always out of stock I love them. They help eliminate some of the artifacts that come with the in camera sharpening algorithim

    Nikkor auto 50mm f1.4 not exactly voigtlander rendering but they have a very unique/warm look and the color looks great on skintones on my panasonic body.

    I love how this came out. Did you use diffusion ? The lighting has this diffused like rendering too it idk it looks cool ! How do you like these lenses so far ?
  16. definitely going to upgrade to the gh5 after seeing this update. Wow

    @Phil A the nikkor 55mm f3.5 is really good
  19. hmm this could very well be the noise reduction algorithm repeating frames and then the sharpening algorithm going crazy on the high contrast edges causing a jitter effect when panning. The gh2 had a similar problem https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2848/gh2-in-24p-noticeable-strobe-effect-with-any-motion-in-frame/p1
  20. cinelike d is great ! Great DR & flexibility in post with the right LUT. I haven't had much luck grading it without a LUT especially under mixed lighting

    They are a little boring for my tastes. They have a very neutral and "safe" look that should be good for a wide variety of applications but idk..im not into the look especially vs. rokinon's xeen line. I think if you really need the features of a cine lens they're cool for the price but if things like focus breathing dont matter there are way better options out there

    Nah they definitely have been available for a while just super hard to find for some reason. I have 6 in 52mm and 58mm screw in threads and one 77mm. I have no clue why they are so hard to find
