Im sure someone already mentioned this but does anyone know of any super 16mm lenses that cover the entire m43 sensor ? Im interested in the zeiss tevidon
  2. I use filmconvert for color accuracy (shoots for clothing lines, product shots etc) as it helps me get usable color out of cineliked. i use visioncolor impulz sometimes but they can REALLY exaggerate blue channel noise ! deluts is ridiculously aggressive on your footage with extremely raised blacks right now I have been sticking with koji advance. They're not aggressive at all and are a good starting point for me. Totally gets rid of the yellow color cast and greenish yellows on my panasonic footage and thats all I ever need a lut for

@PannySVHS I shot this with the nikkor-h 85mm f1.8 w/ tiffen black satin diffusion & a nikkor 24mm f2.8 w/ black satin. All these vintage nikkors have crazy 3d rendering in comparison to some of the ais glass but they aren't as optically corrected for CA & distortion.

I skipped on getting the voigtlander glass and went with some non ai nikkor glass on the metabones speedbooster xl ?
  5. people are worried about being inadequate. Thats my guess. The worry is crushed black levels, compression artifacts, in camera sharpening and all the stuff we obsess over as cam operators locking us out of our big break in hollywood or some renowned film festival. Either that or we are just crazy LOL 28 days later was a low resolution, aliased filled, DV cam work of art. To stay on topic I think the GH5 can reach a cinematic look but that all depends on us being able to work within the limitations of what the camera is capable of and exploiting it as an aesthetic. Almost the same way some people liked to shoot low contrast film over the contrasty positive slide film. I would say the panasonic series of cameras are our equivalent of slide film and if treated as such we can get great results out of the limited DR this looks like it has about 6 stops of DR LOL still looks good though
  6. way too low ! I feel like we need a bare minimum of 100 mbps in 1080
  7. Or a bitrate hack im begging you LOL seriously 160-200 mbps 1080 & or 4k would be a god send
  8. I agree the pre-ai lenses are the way to go. The images have character and the speedbooster sharpens em up

just picked this bad boy up in mint condition. Nikkor auto 35mm f2
  10. Considering it because the 4K resolution of that thing is amazing but is it worth upgrading to from the g85 ? idk they all look ridiculously clean downscaled to 1080p
  11. 4K is unneccessary imo. I just use it because with cameras like the GH4 and a6500 whatever you get a 1:1 full pixel read out or its downscaled from a 6K+ image versus the line skipped 1080p modes. 4k is a better acquisition format because of this. I then convert it to 4444 10 bit prores or 422 dnxhd 10bit 1080p and grade from there to use in my nle. How im looking at it the game has changed and video content is going mobile thanks to our smartphones or for display in a home theatre. Thats far different than shooting for the big screen and even then they are projecting a 1080p image. 1080p will be the gold standard for delivery for years to come while higher resolution formats are just great for acquisition
  12. Hmm how would I use this with my cam ? I want to experiment with this asap. It would be amazing if someone made some noise profiles for the gh4,g80 and gh5. That would help bring us even closer to developing clean cinematic images with the GH series of cameras
  13. @BTM_Pix good idea using the expodisc to set exposure. I never thought of using it like that ! hmmm I wonder if we can use the expodisc to create different noise profiles at diff iso's for use with neat video noise reduction software
  14. @mercer Im going to take a shot at shooting a narrative one of these days, sounds like a good idea. As far as exposure is concerned -2/3 to +2/3 is my ideal range for video & -1 to +1 for RAW photos. Yeah overexposing when you use a diffusion filter looks way better than without one. Single coated lenses also have that soft bloom to them. Both options helps you avoid those crushed shadows
  15. @mercer I actually started intentionally blowing out certain highlights with my G85 and the noise performance and dr is great. If I have a scene with too many hotspots & white areas i'll expose until 105% zebras show up with cined and the results are amazing. I hope this carries over to the GH5 its how I reach a cinematic quality image with these consumer cameras. Exposure is hands down the most important part of the process
  16. Contrast & heavy saturation like those instagram filters ?
  17. @mercer yeah the gh5 looks promising. APS-H crop in 4K with the metabones speedbooster xl stands out to me the most
  18. @mercer dont remind me ! Everything looked super flat, it made t3i owners feel like they had an ARRI ?? post screenshots of the episode if you can. I thought their trailers looked pretty dope. Do you think the gh5 could shoot images like that ?
  19. Jesus Christ I hate that flat look ugh...not one crushed shadow to be found though lmao

I may actually cry when I sell this. Tears of pain & sorrow
  21. @Bioskop.Inc oh God I hated the SOOC ungraded LOG look ?? I know hella people who associated the look with high end productions. Remember when the teal & orange M31 LUT look was the go to aesthetic ? LOL ! Or how about the green shadow tint used & abused in 1990's action movies ? Maybe the confusion is everyone defines "cinematic" differently cause its a subjective word. Cinema is art and every artist paints their pictures differently
