I think it all comes down to preference. I fell like most camera hardware lens in general is significantly marked up in price because capitalism is still the law of the land : buy low, sell high. Its up to the manufacturer to decide if thats a wise strategy for them and more often than not it isn't especially an era where Nikon and Canon are no longer the two top players. I personally shoot with prime lenses and absolutely refuse to use a tripod/monopod so IBIS is a God send. A tripod slows me down significantly and you miss all the shots you DON'T take so again when it comes to that it comes down to a matter of preference. I've shot on many productions even as the behind the scenes guy and by the time they were done rigging their cameras and tripods im already actively shooting quality images. Im sure many other videographers are starting to notice the same thing so they are actively buying cameras that have IBIS to keep production costs low and turnover times down as well. So knowing this as a business you'll mark up your prices knowing that people HAVE to buy from you anyway due to supply and demand. Just my take...camera hardware will always be expensive because there is an increased demand for images...so its not just Panasonic and micro four thirds...

@Cinegain thank you !!! lens filters make a hell of a difference. Even the most subtle filter makes a big impact on the aesthetic of these lenses, especially the clinical lumix ones

Really not a fan of the lumix lenses with the exception of their Leica branded stuff. I only the 20mm ii and I use it strictly for street photography. Lumix lenses have this super clean look to it that comes off as boring. I prefer to use full frame lenses with the speedbooster xl because it looks more like an aps-h camera in stills and a super 35mm in video in terms of rendering.
  7. I think panasonic would be better suited making lenses than camera bodies. Give us a manual focus pana/leica lens with bold character to really make the new sensors of the g85 and gh5 pop. I think that would be cool
  8. gonna practice using Davinci Resolve because Adobe Premiere gets buggier with every update. Can't give clients the "my computer isn't working" as much as you can give your school teacher the "my dog ate my homework" excuse
  9. @Phil A interesting workflow you got there ! I mainly try to get the look in camera and finish with an instagram filter or the cameo app if its going straight to social media. Other than I color grade and downscale to 1080 in premiere and then export to vlc. @BTM_Pix app suggestions sound extremely promising

@PannySVHS I leave those at default and expose for 105% zebras. The curve does weird stuff when you adjust those settings ! I rather the lens & filter take care of contrast and stuff optically ??
  11. You don't need to leave man, soon we'll have the Sony A9 to love or hate lol. You should start threads for topics you are interested in, I will do the same

  14. bet you sales would skyrocket if they dropped the price of the damn thing ! I know they have all the bleeding edge technology but their pricing scheme is almost pretentious at this point exactly why I said i'll wait on a sony a9s
  15. gonna wait for a sony a9s.....this sounds promising on paper. Hopefully it doesn't double as a thermonuclear device when it comes to 4k overheating
  16. Dude the form factor was revolutionary. I'll take that with an ef mount any day of the week ! But the guts of the thing were crippled on purpose smh. Someone had to have known the level of noise reduction was too intense I don't know about "never be cinematic". If you know cinematography you can make anything look cinematic. Cinema has little to do with the camera and everything to do with what you put in front of it
  17. Xc10 was a dissapointment. Its positive features were crippled by the negative. I think it was done intentionally
  18. That will deteriorate the image if you bump up the ISO to expose brighter so its worth keeping that in consideration as well
  19. Is your sharpness set at -5 as well ? Mine is currently at -3
  20. Not trying to troll I am honestly trying to figure out what are you guys are shootings that require you to hit 6400 iso on a regular basis ?! I have shot for the military, personal brand, corporate, blog etc. and if I have to use 800 iso im scared. 1600 iso ? Im having nightmares. 3200 ? Im changing to a fast lens and adjusting the lighting (if I have lighting). If not I pack it up and move to a location with better lighting and finish the shoot. Ideally I would be able to do some kind of prep work to determine how the lighting looks and what I need to bring. So again what are you guys shooting that you need such high iso's ? I hear run & gun situations which is my PRIMARY form of shooting and still have never went above 800 iso.
  21. Ok and why are we shooting at 6400 iso again ? asking for a friend. Exactly ! If your first option is to crank up the iso your lighting is terrible or you just make poor decisions as a camera operator
  22. UPDATE : I confirmed in my test that and research online that the cine curves white point are at 90 ire (90 % zebras). Anything below that 90 IRE fits in the curve and above that the s-curve/highlight compression kicks in and causes weird distortion in color. 90% white point roughly falls in the 2/3 -1 underexposure range so we were on the money also cinelike d has no highlight compression at the top of the curve so it makes sense as to why the highlight and color clippings looks weird. The 90 ire rule applies to cined as well
  23. looks like Panasonic is doubling down on the Lumix line. Can you imagine a Pana/leica designed body with an apsc sensor ? That would be a dream
