Olympus E-M1 II and Rode Stereo VideoMic X first impressions
kidzrevil replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The audio sounds amazing ! would love to see some more tests in different lighting situations ! looks good but it may be too early to say its comparable to the gh5. I seen some great test footage from the GH5 floating around online... -
My thoughts on the Kipon Medium Format "Speedbooster"

Interesting stuff about the DOF ?, I really like the character of @Mattias Burling shots. Does the DOF equivalence really matter if the rendering looks this good ? Serious question, not trying to troll -
My thoughts on the Kipon Medium Format "Speedbooster"

This looks awesome ! you're probably gonna wanna jump off a bridge if you plan on pulling focus wide open though LOLLLL -
the glass on the satin feels better maybe because its a newer model. It works wonders to alleviate the in camera sharpening you hate
-
I am stuck on the tiffen satin and black satin filters. The diffusion looks perfect with my panasonic body
-
I noticed the "jumping" he's talking about in some of my footage but its rare. I haven't shot past iso 1600 with my g80 but I have never experienced ghosting, macroblocking or the image going soft because of a low bit rate. I think the poster is just on a witch hunt he's gonna need a lot more than footage he found on cameralabs.com to prove that point lol
-
You'll notice high bit rate before you'll notice high color depth (10 bit). Maybe you'll notice the difference on LOG footage but definitely not with a REC709 gamma profile designed for 0-255 luma range...

@Matt Kieley I love the feel of your grading man

all you have to do is underexpose with panasonic cameras. All picture profiles have 10 stops of dr except cinellike d which has around 11. All negative contrast settings do is destroy midtone contrast more than it does recover highlights in high contrast situations like stage lighting. I shoot events at default settings except -5 contrast and sharpness

@noone awesome shot ! me personally I wont even consider using a m43 camera with a lens that doesn't at least go to f1.8 ! I've been using nikkor lenses with a speedbooster to give my 2.8 glass a bit more light. The m43 sensors are way to noisy for me above 1600. Thank god for the ibis you can get clean shots around 400-800 @ night
-
Idk the lighting there but you could get good results between 800-1600. With a fast lens you should be able to take that shot under 6400
-
did he raise the master pedestal or lower the contrast ? The g80 in cinelike d at iso 1600 has less artifacts here....something is up with these settings that vid looks incredible. wow
-
Agreed ! Im just saying who EXPECTS clean ISO at 6400 ?! Thats what blew my mind. If you have to push to 1600 with any camera both film and digital you know the lighting sucks. If I push to 3200 that is an emergency situation. 6400 means I absolutely, positively have to have that shot for my boss or my client. 6400 iso one can expect the image to fall apart with grain, smudging & compression artifacts. I am not going to judge the gh5 or any camera for that matter based on its 6400 iso performance. Can't tell you the last time I went over 800 lol
-
What do you expect at 6400 iso ?....lol...wow Have you shot with the a7s ? Its clean up to 12,800 iso !!!!

Looks like motion blur to me. Raise the iso up and wave it around to see. I would only worry about if it shows up under 1600 iso

I say go for it. I got mine with a metabones speedbooster xl and the nikkor glass I have looks really good on it. Stopped down to f4-5.6 the nikkors look crazy with the speedbooster
