EOSHD Pro Color for Panasonic (GH4, GX85, G85 + more)
kidzrevil replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Does the g80 perform better in 16-255 over 0-255 ? Im still confused as to why you picked that range. Does it benefit the image or is that the range the lut is designed for ? @Andrew Reid -
Right
-
Exactly. Still waiting on @mat33 work so we can evaluate the issue ??

The 20mm lumix f1.7 ii aint that bad with a light grade tiffen black pro mist. I like the soft quality of light on this piece i shot

I appreciate that ! I'll be more mindful with my words next time. This just hasn't been the first time i've seen something that made me ponder the accuracy of these tests but to each his own. He does have a couple of informative vids but I think its misleading to sell people on these mac pros as video editing power houses. Apple has very underpowered gpu's
-
People still listen to Max Yurev ? lol check the 3D performance of a windows based laptop vs a mac.Its night and day. You are just paying for the brand name when it comes to apple and a cool UI you are not paying for performance
-
i have the 2015 model and haven't looked back. I seen an extreme improvement in performance over the mac pro
-
thanks dude ! I edited it with premiere and lumetri, I used the visioncolor cined luts ! the nikkor ais are full frame lenses and look beautiful with the speedbooster xl. In stills its the sweet spot between super 35 and full frame I love it
-
The small sensor size of M43 cameras help with shooting wide open and surprisingly the speedbooster actually does clean up the image a little and adds sharpness
-
@jonpais yeah im not jumping to the gh5 neither but i'll consider it after their summer firmware update. The G80 has a better image than the GH4 and I don't mind the fact that it doesn't have some of the "pro" features of the gh4 that I never use lol. Good call on the AWB being the reasons the colors are off

Thats great. I would love to see what you shot with it ! Me personally idc for the camera anymore. The ghosting used to leave a trailing effect on my unit. If you can tolerate that then fine but I sure won't. I shot this with it. What have you shot with it ?
-
It was good for the ergonomics then the more you use the shit in the field is the more the imperfections show up. The ghosting was terrible over 500 in clog. The standard profile helped but the DR was limited. After a while it became more of a burden than a tool. I wish they brought back the ergonomics with better hardware but oh well
-
It grew on me. I use the 20 f1.7 for street photography and casual shoots now
-
@jonpais be patient with us, after all we haven't had things like digital sharpening & limited dynamic range in our art history class neither ? I would classify organic as an image that doesn't have those obvious high contrast edges. That and a smooth transition between in and out of focus areas create the organic look in my eye as well

@Dean I completely understand what you are saying. When I had the NX1 I went through Canon FD lenses, Nikkor AIS & Contax Zeiss and they all left me scratching my head. My guess is that the nx1 adds a very high level of in camera image processing that is tailored to the look of their native lenses ! The end result is all the lenses whether nikkor or canon fd all have a same look and softness in weird places and I strongly believe it was because of their image processing. You only see the true look of the lenses when you shoot raw photos on the nx1 on the Lumix cameras I believe there are no extra image processing going on UNLESS you use one of their native lenses which have features like diffraction and shading compensation etc. im using the same nikkor lenses I owned on the NX1 and even at the same super 35mm crop the lenses look way different. Im excited to see how they will look on the gh5 which will hopefully have no in camera image processing in its VLOG mode. I honestly don't have time tot do A/B testing but I will consider it. I do own a lumix pancake and the nikkors and I prefer the look of the nikkors. The lumix pancake looks extremely enhanced I had to slap a black pro mist on it to soften it. I don't like the look of the native lenses and I am keeping the pancake lens just for the portability and to use with the slr magic anamorphot if I do actually decide to buy it again

nikkor 28mm f2.8 ais w/ speedbooster xl
-
@jonpais I think there is a difference. The optical design of lenses designed for bigger sensors looks different than the lumix native lenses designed for a much smaller sensor. The subject seperation looks way diff with the speedbooster
-
Yup I used to own the 17.5,25 & 42.5 ! Very good lenses too bad my gh4 was still too noisy. They probably look nuts on the g85 or gh5
-
Too close to call it ! I personally HATE focus by wire lenses so I would go with the sigma. I just bought a lumix pancake and the focus by wire mechanisms are just ugh..
-
I got ghosting at 800. My shots looked good only because of my composition. I vowed never to take advice from a forum ever again after the xc10 lolllll it has its strong points tho
-
I got the g85 with a bunch of nikkor ais glass but the Pana/Leica branded glass has a look to them man. Its almost like shooting m43 Leica glass ! I prefer the look to the regular old lumix lenses and I myself may just get those two lenses you mentioned @eltorrete I think you are over thinking this. The NX1 produces a sharp, clean image with its own aesthetic. Honestly the only difference between these cameras now are aesthetic, lens selection & stabilization
