@Lothar does Fuji pay you ? You get real defensive about this camera sometimes lol
-
me neither and I doubt I ever will get a request for it.
-
look 5 is C-LOG but according to @UHDjohn there has been no comparison lmao Anyway @hyalinejim I can't wait to see your tests
-
They definitely do they are just mapped differently. For instance there are profiles that have superwhites like the cinema eos standard with a raised black then you have the standard profile that lowers shadows and highlights. Alll give 11-12 stops they are just distributed differently. EBU documentation proved this
-
Cinema EOS standard seems to push red and yellow closer together to optimize skin tones sort of like the Skin Squeeze feature in magic bullet or how the m31 LUT handles skin. The shadow's seem to be raised slightly to record low light detail and the midtones are raised high enough to create a better roll off into the highlights than the other profiles. I also like the fact that the profile isn't heavily saturated which should help with color clipping and I am considering raising the saturation in camera to come closer to the standard profile. Last but not least I am seeing that the in camera sharpening is vital because C-LOG can turn your footage into mush even though it has fantastic DR. I am going to use a diffusion filter to cut down on edge sharpness. All the picture profiles give the same DR but it's just distributed differently and I feel like Cinema EOS is a good middle ground between them all

@hyalinejim @Tim Sewell Glad you guys like the cinema eos profile I have now eliminated the other profiles as an option. Cinema EOS & C-LOG give the best image for Cinema EOS what really needs to be tested is how far can we bump the sharpness up before the image get's oversharpened Shot this in C-LOG with a tiffen black satin 3. Im going to try a black satin 1 because I feel like the 3 took away too much detail

The world went to shit. Trump is not a new yorker I am proud of but I am actually praying he doesn't crash the dollar and our industry in one shot
-
I have the feeling that is the case with the xc15...im hoping i am wrong
-
@Tim Sewell @hyalinejim Thanks ! Its shot between 1000-2000 !
-
yes just like how canon log raises the black point. you can find the Canon white paper here http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/resources/articles/2012/cinemaeos_white_papers.shtml I did a low light test with the XC10 and Canon Log
-
Question how does the cinema eos profile on the xc10-xc15 match the canon c300 ii? I am trying to learn more about the cinema eos profile because it raises the black point of the camera but it looks really good. I really want to know the name of the profile kt correlates to on the c300ii so I can look up the white papers on it

I got your message on vimeo bro @hyalinejim guess we were right after all ! Sounds like this made enough noise for them to start looking into it but I urge everyone to keep posting their sample footage/stills with ghosting to keep the pressure on. Also if anyone finds a way to limit the appearance of it that will help us a lot too. I have been using the xc10 extensively for "street videography" and its so discreet ! I am trying different combinations of lens filtration and in camera sharpening to see if it helps with the ghosting problem. Lens filtration does seem to help & 1/60 shutter helps too...I think
-
Its looking like it can't hurt to pick up a 5D for the raw video. Guess I can always use the xc10 for quick 1080p turnover time Can't lie the 5D raw has some of the best IQ I have seen Maybe its the diffusion filter I am using but I don't see a lot of artifacts in the 1080 image when using C-LOG and Cinema EOS standard. The in camera sharpening from the other profiles like WDR in 1080 looks terrible though. Praying they tackle the ghosting issues with the xc10 but for now at 1000 iso and lower the 1080p is good enough for the web with a good finishing filter on the lens like a tiffen black satin

@Kisaha i'll rent one for paid gigs. I hear so many good things about the C100 & C300 but for personal work something smaller is a lot better for me. Travelling the streets of New York with a camera like that in hand aint really a wise decision LOL
-
I changed my mind about sending it in. I asked a canon representative off the record if it is a engineering issue and not a defective unit how will I be compensated and he had no clue. Think the best bet is to get someone like @Andrew Reid to look into it and then they'"" hopefully respond with a firmware update because of the press. For now I would suggest shooting at slower shutter speeds when you hit iso 1000 & up. The motion blur masks the ghosting effect

Best overal image quality. Ideally a camera with a 1080p full pixel readout Or little to no moire. I don't need framerates beyond 60p so keep that in mind ? I've had my eye on a 5D for a while now @mercer but really I want something I can take the file straight off the camera and load it on an iPad to show clients
-
The 4K implementation of these consumer cameras make 4K seem highly overrated. I used to drool over all that resolution until I noticed my clients & fans gravitated more towards the color of the image and then the dynamic range. I deliver everything in 1080p and get most of my traffic from IG so now a good 1080p camera is essential. there have been movies shot with a 5D mark 2 that look incredible. Question : what is the best 1080p camera on the market right now ? That new canon mirrorless looks promising
-
@Bioskop.Inc I have no clue ! Which camera is this 10-12 bit thing working on ? I wouldn't mind a 60d
-
This is pretty cool, I heard the first C-LOG was optimized for 8bit because of the c100 - c300 bit depth limitations
-
Running out to buy an 80d cause wowwww
-
Tommorrow. I was testing a new filter today so I haven't sent it yet
-
Especially when you bombard them with clips from different camera units. spoke to a Canon representative yesterday and he hung up on me in the middle of me giving him my serial #. Lol. Im learning to live with this issue. Going to try shooting at a super slow shutter speed at ISO to mask the issue. Hopefully that works
-
Yup ! I was told by a Canon representative that they are not aware of this problem and the more people that contact them with it is how they proceed in fixing it. He said they log all the user complaints etc. I am sending in my unit to them with the hope that it can be fixed or I can get a replacement unit. If not ? bye bye XC10
-
Yeah I don't need the shot to look completely locked down, just need to get rid of the micro jitters. As long as it can accomplish that its good in my book ! How's the manual focus on it ???
-
You use DIS instead of OIS ???
