Fuji probably realized the bit rate of the internal codec isn't high enough for 4k LOG recording so they just made it exclusive to external recorders...that makes the most sense to me
@MattH funnier how you still haven't brought a shred of validity to your point. Sorry if it came off as forceful
Hopefully they fix it in a firmware update. Maybe it causes macroblocking in the internal codec and they are trying to avoid that being an issue ?
Well go forth and define it as you may. I still dont get your point nor how this is relative to image quality. I probably never will to be honest and I doubt it bares any significance in this thread anyhow so yeah definitely have fun with that @MattH
Completely disagree. COLOR bit depth has absolutely nothing to do with resolution !!!!!! So yeah definitely something you just made up & im not even sure how it even vaidates your point. Maybe im missing a huge piece of the puzzle somewhere hidden in your "dynamic resolution" concept. And I've seen sharp xc10 footage as well. 4k is an image that packs 4 times as many pixels than 1080 in the image. This "soft" 4k you look for you'll find it in Narnia or in Alice's wonderland cause it sure doesn't exist in the real world ??
It is completely annoying how people can dismiss a camera as not being "serious". They forget these things are tools. If your a serious photographer/videographer you can get an amazing image out of mostly anything on the market
Yup. All manufacturer test vids suck. The vids they used to premiere the gh4 were terrible ! This fuji vid in 4K looks amazing, sharp without being oversharp with great highlight roll off and skintones @Liam
Why does @The Chris always get so mad when someone mentions an NX1 ? Lol damn.
Im waiting for the xt2 reviews cause since none of us held it we cant judge ergonomics or any of the physical components of the hardware. The fuji x lenses look sweet and I love what I've seen people do with em. I would've went fuji a lonnnnng time ago if their video didnt suck as much as it used too. The xpro2 was a great step up but now the xt2 is looking like the answer
A7s,Nx1,xt2,gh5....im just glad all this competition is making even Fuji...yes Fuji step it up with video. NX1 is great but Samsung really fucked us with that one but it was a great camera nonetheless
The nx1 is cool but Fuji looks like they finally got it right for video. I am looking at the video on Andrews post at 4k resolution and even with the youtube compression it looks amazing. The film emulations look straight out the cam better than the nx1 to me at least. Shit it looks better than a lot of stuff on the market to be honest with you. This is such a good look especially for those not good at grading or want to save time and just focus on editing instead of grading. I think that was the big plus for me with the nx1 was the look required minimal grading out the cam but this xt2 looks like it needs no grading but just color correction if need be. I am truly excited but not ready to sell what I have for it...I'll wait till the reviews hit the web
Omg this is gonna be great. I dont mind the inevitable rolling shutter. I dont shoot with telephoto lenses nor do I whip pan so idc. High quality jpgs & film simulation straight to the card ? Sold.
lets not forget the speedbooster for the full frame look and extra stop of light.
Installed the vasile hack today. Felt like I was defusing a bomb after reading the instructions but it all went well. Gonna test shoot with it today, this hack is FAST !
can you download the original off of my vimeo ? I don't see any macroblocking in the raw files but im sure if you catch some its due to vimeo compression. @iamoui
@mercer thanks man ! Im slowly moving towards a more bright and contrasty look. Really just embracing the low dynamic range of these cameras instead of trying to mimic an alexa you know ?
thank you @August McCue !
+15 mbl , -4 saturation, -3 contrast (NEVER drop the contrast lower than the saturation), -10 sharpness (slightly sharpened in post) and 0-255 luma range.
lens used was the Contax Zeiss 50mm f1.4 AEJ
