Vasile proved it when he stated that they rewrote how to access the bitrate etc. thank you Samsung for 1.4.1 but you get a big f$#@ you from me for purposely trying to kill the product

damn that sucks dude ! I have never shot with the bmpcc so I can't comment on that. Do you have to make dramatic tweaks to white balance and exposure ? I usually have to make tweaks as well but that goes the same for any LUT I use @Turboguard

yeah even though the nx1 was good I don't expect lightning to strike twice. Especially with Samsung's behavior, between the rumors, lack of support, and the mass shortage of NX supplies I just can't anymore. Could get a new lens set tomorrow and the adapter for it will be out of stock everywhere. They sent all the stockists into panic mode ! Again dope camera, it will definitely give you a great image & the hack is a God send. SO why would they release a firmware update to totally derail the hack ? You would figure it would be good press for them and they will at least turn a blind eye to it as more people flock to the system BECAUSE of the improvements Vasile made. SMH @Dean

contax zeiss planar 85mm f1.4 if you guys liked the Hollywood there fast planars are legit. Not as sharp & clinical as the modern zeiss but the microcontrast and distortion/field curvature or whatever creates this 3D effect @mercer @jase this is a graded 4k still from the nx1 using the vivid profile. Definitely need to raise the master pedestal to +8 or +15 because the nx1 strangely clips blacks below those levels

Funny how Samsung wont support the camera or at least tell us they are supporting the nx line but please...please dont hack it. Funnier than that is how they initially said they were sending Magic Lantern stuff. Me no likey their company policies ? @vasile

Im slowly scaling down. 1st step to recovery was to quit buying the "just in case/one day i'll need it" focal lengths that you never use. I had wide angles catching dust lol @Geoff CB @DevonChris I wouldn't sell the nikkor glass unless you plan on shooting with sony a7 series. That big ass mount you need for nikon lenses can make the camera toooo front heavy imo. For a panny camera I'd keep the nikkor cause of that speedbooster ? Nice shot btw !

Thank you @jase ! And yeah exactly you trick yourself into thinking there's better glass out there hahhaah. Half the time its not even the fact that the glass is better, there's these small nuances that each lens has that stands out. Between Contrast,color rendering,DOF characteristics etc. , one of these qualities will jump out at you and make you buy a lens...but you already know that I dont have to preach to you lol. This is from the zeiss 28mm "hollywood". I'll have more up later today

lol nah I don't think I took a loss selling them. I had your lens at one point of time too and eventually I sold that too. I would've never knew how milvus glass looked if at one point I didn't sell my voigtlanders to get it. Don't get caught up in the name "zeiss", "milvus" etc. there are hella winning combos out there. No one line of lenses are perfect. Right now I am using contax zeiss glass and they have way more character, not nearly as sharp but the DOF & color rendering is amazing. Who knows I might sell it too and get leica r glass in the future. You always have the option of selling If you can afford it why not ? @DevonChris the 50 1.2 is soft wide open but by the time you hit f2 its sharp as hell. You mayyyy or may not like the bokeh though. Its off putting to some but I didn't mind it

Alot I suppose. I always got the most accurate color from them. Using other LUT's made it very difficult to get color that looked "natural" which sucked when shooting lookbooks and products. Filmconvert will be a great addition to the NX1 which already has some of the best color rendering

No, I strongly believe the light transmission of a zoom lenses changes the amount of light let in as you adjust focal length even on fixed aperture zooms. I've experienced this on my sigma 18-35

No you buy the filmconvert software for your NLE of choice, then you download the NX1 camera pack (if they make it). The camera packs are free, they are just there to ensure compatibility with their software. long story short when they profile a camera they try to match the sensor noise pattern, exposure and color with the film stock of choice. Imagine shooting in gamma dr and having that converted accurately to the look of kodak film ?

It def helps especially with manual focus. I think its best to develop a mastery over black and white before moving onto color. Helps me learn the limits of my camera/lens combo in the shadows and higlights. It helps big time imo

My guess is that Samsung got hip to the fact that people are hacking the camera and this....worthless update is to patch whatever exploit was used to hack it. Seen sony do this shit with the PSP when people figured out how to hack it. That app aint worth it.
