Chasing a simple GH4 Matte Box shade / flag solution
JazzBox replied to Matt Holder's topic in Cameras
I've bought the same after I saw your! Which ND filters do you use with it? -
Woooow!!! Thank you very much Andy!!! Do you use an active or passive Metabones? How do you cable tie the lens? On the rods or on the matte box? I see some great follow focus' ring: where can I buy them in Europe? Huge thanks!

Could you please tell me more about those lenses? I also own the BMMCC and I'd love to know more about them

I went from VS-2 (normal, not FineHD) to BMD Video Assist 5" and I'm more then happy: better sharpness, better peaking and the possibility to record ProRes. Of course, after I tried Atoms Shogun... I miss all those extra features such as false color, LUT etc... but I can't afford it.
-
It would be great... of course I cannot spend a lot, because I'm on a budget, but I could spend something at least for a couple of lenses

Aputure VS2 is very nice, especially for the price. Of course the colors are not the most accurate in the world, but it's ok!

Thank you very much!! I own some declicked Mir and Pentacon and I love them, I'd like to declick oalso my CY Zeiss and add a diaphragm with more blades (9 to 14)
-
How good is the quality? Is it true that using speedsters you could have some "blue spot" in particular light's condition? Thank you!

Ciao! I love using old manual lenses (especially primes) for filming with my GH4 and Micro Cinema Camera. I'm very happy about colors, sharpness, overall quality etc... The only thing I don't like is that they have not the facilitations that a Zeiss Compact Prime has: I miss the declicked aperture, the 14 blades and the belt ring. Do you know if there is someone that could adapt them in a nicer way, with a new declicked 9-14 blade diaphragm (and maybe an included belt for follow focus)? Thank you!

Thank you! I think it was designed for APSC, not for FF.

Ciao! I'm thinking to buy a Speedbooster (or something similar) in order to have a Super 35 crop on my GH4 and a 2x crop on Micro Cinema Camera. Searching an adapter that could work on both I saw this Lens Turbo: http://www.zyoptics.net/product/zhongyi-lens-turbo-adapters-for-micro-four-thirds-cameras-m43/ What do you think about it? I don't really need an active adapter since my lenses are Zeiss CY with CYtoEF ring. Any problem with flange? What about RJ? Thank you very much!

Thank you jagnje!

Ciao, I just bought a rig for my GH4 and Micro Cinema: https://www.movofilms.be/movofilms-professional-camera-support-kit.html Great cage with rod, follow focus etc... for a bargain price in my opinon. I'm more then happy about it (and the customer care is awesome, very friendly and skilled): I need some gear ring belt for my CY Zeiss lenses and I'm searching something that will not ruin the lenses and that could work with the follow focus. Are the belt universal? Have you some tips for some nice belts? Thank you very much!

Samyang 10mm? It is very rectilinear and easy to use. I sold it, because I had to buy the 12-40 Olympus for m43, but it was very good. http://www.e-infin.com/eu/item/2158/samyang_10mm_f/2.8_ed_as_ncs_cs_lens_for_canon_ef_mount?gclid=COLphdvKhc0CFekp0wodutMOQA

I mostly use primes, but I have 2 zooms that I like: Olympus 12-40 for m43 and Contax Zeiss 28-70. The Contax Zeiss 28-70 is way easier to use then the more professional 28-85. It's also lighter and has more blades. I love it.

It makes sense! Thank you!

Why only blue and not also red? I ask because I only knew that since the filter pattern is 50% green, 25% red and 25% blue, green screen work better then blue screen with digital cameras, but other then that I'm totally ignorant about it.

In this screenshot it seems that the light come from above, slightly from the left, as you can see from shadow on his neck and under his nose. It is similar to "butterfly (or Paramount) light" photographers use a lot for portrait. It comes from old Hollywood era: you can move the light from 25° to 70° in front of your subject. For my taste this kind of frontal light on your screenshot is a little too flat, I would go at least at 45° in order to have more contrast. Last week I was in Berlin at Tom Antos' workshop, we used the Ursa Mini 4K. Beautiful camera, great images, but I thought it was ready to shoot with, whereas there are a lot of things to rig before shooting. So I'm more then happy to have the Micro Cinema, that for sure it is not comfortable like a GH4 or a A7s, but at the end it is small enough to work with I still have to become familiar with its menu and buttons, but I love the images Micro returns.

With GX80 is not possible to use something like this? Thank you very much! http://www.amazon.com/DMW-BLC12-Panasonic-DMC-G6KK-DMC-FZ200-DMC-FZ1000/dp/B005IQRMXE

@jase, a question about GX80: is it true that it is possible to charge it only via USB? How long is the battery life?
-
Thank you @TheRenaissanceMan!

Thank you very much to you both!! Did you made any comparison in the Panasonic family (GH4, GX80, LX100)? Did you tried the Leica D-Lux Typ 109? The stabilization is gimbal-like (something you can walk with) or for slow movements? Huge thanks for your great tips!
