I purchased the ERA Bundle Pro without the clipper December 15th and I received an email that it is a free up date for me to ERA Bundle Pro 3, which is appreciated. I will check it out! I only reason I purchase the ERA Bundle Pro in the first place was to get the ERA N denoiser plugin which is amazing as you said. This clipper could be just what the doctor ordered as I have never found a de-clipper that was transparent / natural sounding. Hopefully ERA De-Clippper is the one. My understanding is that ProRes on the black magic pocket 4K has the sensor debayering of B-RAW already, so if you nail exposure and white balance in the camera Pro Res is great and probably very similar to what you will get with B-RAW if little color grading is required. For those who would like to work with 12 bit files, all be it compressed, would benefit from B-RAW. Once B-RAW is available, if the files sizes are similar to ProRes, then I think most will think they “need” B- RAW when available, but we shall see.

Seems like the lens and sensor combination are more capable on the AG-CX350 vs DX200 as the DX200 is only 13x and the image is cropped depending to the resolution and frame rate making it effectively narrower at higher frame rates and resolution combinations. The AG-CX350 is wider to begin with and stays that way at it different resolutions and frame rates. The AG-CX350 seems like a winner if it has dual-native ISOs. If, bit depth and color space, low light and compressed file size were all at the right height or low enough for exceptable quality, processing and shortage then an 8k video file would allow an event videographer to also add valiue with screen capture photo’s of the event. Also, there may be a perfect photo of your kids first steps that was captured while you where shooting 8k video of them. For adapted lenses like c-mount lens , many would be usable more at a 1/2 sensor crop giving a it 4K at a 2/3” cropped sensor size. I have 6-26mm c-mount that would love this configuration. Having that ability to scan, pan and stabilize in post and deliver a 4K image would be useful for some. If 8k is done right - I think there will be a cross section of people who would benefit. Maybe the poll should be. 1. I want better quality 4K! vs 2. I want 8k any way you can give it to me! I don’t think it’s a case of either or, but we shall see.
  5. Currently, on sale at through Amazon there are 2 x $339 high bright 7" monitors with SDI, one by Feelworld, one by Portkeys. The Feelworld is 2200nits, The Portkey is 1200nit. both are daylight viewable. though the Feelworld should be almost twice as bright. The Portkeys is has 3DLUT support, the Feelworld does not. Both have SDI, 4k HDMI... and a host of additional features. If you need 3D LUT support then the PortKeys HS7T (current on sale through December 25th for $339) seems like a reasonable trade off if your camera does not have an HDMI or SDI output with a 3D LUT applied.   6. I believe I found an even better dialog denoiser for stereo audio: ERA-D. I just tried and purchased the ERA Bundle Pro at $199 on Accusonus' End of the Year Sale. I purchased the Pro because I needed the ERA-D for dialog noise removal. Things that set ERA-D apart: 1. It combines Noise Removal and Reverb Removal, which gives the processed sound greater intelligibility as compared to just removing noise. 2. It includes 2 instances of Noise Removal and and 2 instances of Reverb Removal in the same plugin, which creates a sum is greater that its parts scenario, allowing me to deal with really intense background noise, which I have not found possible to make sound natural with a single plugin instance. 3. The advance setting let's me make artifacts have minimal impact on the sound. 4. The multi-band approach let's me remove more noise in the non-voice frequency ranges, leaving the voice frequency range less processed, if I so choose. 5. Absolutely great with stereo audio sources, which is not something I have found an equal to with any other noise reduction plugin. I am using an M/S shot gum Mic in stereo mode and this has been the only noise reduction plugin that I have found that can truly handle this type of content. ERA-D made me realized that even if I can't get rid of the noise completely without artifacts, I can get ride of enough of it and shape the remaining noise in a natural non-distracting way, kind of the way Dolby SR sounds like a record, ERA-D sounds like a movie. I use Gullfoss following the ERA-D to bring back any life that was lost with ERA-D, which is less than other noise removal plugins. It's worth trying the demo if your are looking to de-noise dialog from stereo content. For mono content or less extreme noise reduction requirements, you may not hear as much of a difference between the different options.
  7. My experience with BMD has also been above average. They swapped out my Pocket Camera when it had a sensor with a few stuck pixels, no questions asked. As compared to the Panasonic service center when I sent my GH5 in for repair and they charged me while under warranty due to my GH5 having some minor cosmetic damage that had no effect on the issue I was having resolved. Even if BMD was gaurded about the answers they gave on the NAB floor, I would rather have a company not make a promise they can’t keep then offer a 3-year warranty they won’t honor. The GH5 is treated like a consumer product by Panasonic. Blackmagic treats their customers as if they are professionals.

  9. Hi, I wanted to use a second monitor with Resolve as a preview monitor. I hooked up a second monitor and selected Dual Monitors, which gave me more controls on the second screen, which is useful, but not what I was hoping to achieve. I searched the internet to see if there was a configuration option I had missed and there wasn't. As it stands with Resolve 15.2 and lower, it will not output to a second display as a preview monitor unless you have Blackmagic's hardware (actually you the can "tear off" the preview monitor in the Fairlight page, but I wanted it for the color grading page). ...then I found a program called NobeDisplay by Time In Pixels. The software runs as an OpenFX plugin inside of Resolve. You use it by inserting it on a node in the timeline view of node section of the color page. This plugin taps off of the video data stream that represents your preview in Resolve. At 19.99€ it is worth trying the demo to see if you find it useful/compatible for your system configuration. My configuration is an iMac with a second display via DisplayPort so I did not need Blackmagic Design's hardware to physically connect a second monitor. https://timeinpixels.com/nobe-display/ Thanks!   10. MustHD also offers a 2200 nit 7" monitor. The price seems to be as low as the Feelworld if you purchase from Ebay. I picked the HDMI only version for $199 on Amazon. They can currently be found on ebay for less than $250 for the HDMI only version. Things that I like about the MustHD is it is supposed to support 4K 60. It has a lot of buttons on the front to select with. Its' case is metal, which is supposed to help dissipate the heat generated from the high brightness output. It seems like a good alternate if 4k 60 is part of your work flow. I plan to try it on my GH5 - hopefully they will play nicely with each other. If Feelworld had 3D LUT support it would have been my first choice, but neither of these monitor support 3D LUTs as far as I am aware.
  11. Looks good - especially for $200. Apparently the non-SDI version (without the "s" end) FW279 sells for $259.99 regularly. This seems to be the best deal going if you don't need 3D LUTs... Thanks for sharing the photo!
  12. Hi, If you are like me - audio noise bothers me to no end. I am always on the look out for a better audio noise reduction solution. Enter IDC - Instant Dialog Cleaner. It is the best I have found so far for dialogue noise reduction. It beats Izotope RX6 advanced IMHO. I have not compared it against RX7 Advanced. Anyways, it is worth considering, while it is 50% off until Nov 25th for Black Friday. At $99 it not cheap but much cheaper than RX Advance, which has their dialogue isolate plug-in This plug-in is not compatible with Resolve 15.2 as you get distortion ( clicks and pops) when render your video.   13. Resolve is the future. Even if Abobe Premier matches Resolve’s features, their subscription sales model is not for me. I bought my Resolve Studio dongle with my BMCC a few years ago and it keeps getting better without any upgrade fees so far - a fantastic end user experience IMHO. I thought the video was well done, but you can tell the Abobe staff is in their comfortable bubble of branding that “we are the best”. I can’t blame them, it’s a nice gig if you can get it and they might as well enjoy it while they can, because it ain’t gonna last forever. Adobe lost me when they stopped selling and started renting their software. I pretty sure I am not the only person who is stuck on the last version of Adobe CS they purchased and have moved on alternative software out of economic necessity or rebellion against Abode’s evil empire. The thing about Empires is that they always come to an end when they become corupt and exploit and abuse their power...
  14. @ autens we have two wireless door bells - one our gate and one on our front door. They work great but need batteries now and then so if you can wire it, that would be the best for long term use. The nice then about one of them is that the bell part plugs in to the wall so if you don't want to hear it you can just unplug it.
  15. As metadata determines display and native ISO determines exposure you can have usable exposure (not clipping) and unsalable display (clipping). You can’t trust your display when shooting RAW but you can trust Zebras with RAW to show you if you are clipping regardless of what the ISO is set to on the Pocket 4k. I assume you can trust display if you set it to a native ISO (400 or 3200).

I've often though that Blackmagic wanted to be like Apple, but it now occurs to me that Blackmagic did what Apple could never do: win on price as well as functionality. Seems to me that Grant Petty is a Steve Jobs in a market where there is no Bill Gates. Keep it coming Mr. Petty! Your vision is now being adopted by other market dominators. You deserve to be called a genius. If you are anything like your public persona, you are down to earth and the right leader for this revolution.
  17. Maybe it is implied, but I think the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5k has equally good mojo and beats the OG Pocket in dynamic range, field of view and resolution and used, is less than the Pocket 4k.
  18. I thought the concert footage above looked good as well. In the right hands the results are very nice. I agree with comment that the ProAV video looked like video (due highlight handling). I am hoping that when Blackmagic released the BRAW firmware update, the image will improve, like the image improved with USRA Mini Pro. At this point I have not seen the same mojo that I was impressed with in first demo video I saw of the OG pocket - The One. Warning: For those who have not seen it before there is one part that shows some nudity on the cover of a magazine, which may not be appropriate if you watch it in your place of work etc...

  23. From my experience with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera and color temperature, I found the BMCC looks better in daylight 5600k lighting rather than 3200k tungsten. I have read that this is the case with most modern sensors - they are optimized light sources closer to Daylight than tungsten. I am thankfully for the test being done, but shooting in daylight may have been a better light source for real world comparison sake. It would be nice to have seen the GH5 with GHAlex LUT. I saw the comment about using the version 4 color science with the Pocket the would be welcome as well. Adding these refinements and BRAW sensor output tuning (when available) and we may see that the Pocket 4k will be more competitive in the skin tone category against the Alexa. This test shows the potential but not the final image that can be had from the Pocket 4k pending BRAW and version 4 colors science is applied under Daylight conditions.
  24. I thought it looked great! It looked like Sony colors to me so A7S? As far the lighting, maybe some type of home improvement halogen flood light. The camera angles, movement and edit worked for the song. It would have been nice to have some type of story to cut to that related to the song, but If I understood the lyrics it might not have something that I would have focused on as much..
  25. Even the GH1 can look cinematic with (lomo) anamorphic lenses. Be sure to switch the resolution to HD in the Youtube settings before playing. The guy who shot this (Ryan Glover) has other anamorphic tests with various camera's as well: BMCC, GH4 etc. on his youtube channel. I think that after the Pocket 4K gets the BRAW update and sensor output is "processed" like the BRAW updated does for the USRA Mini Pro the choice will be clearer. Though for hand held shooting having the sensor image stabilization is of course unmatched by the Pocket 4k. I'm pretty sure the Pocket 4k is better in low light than the GH5, but for normal lighting conditions, is the Pocket 4k a necessity of over the GH5? I would say not at this point (pre-BRAW) unless shooting in low light is your thing.
