I tested it with their settings for gamma dr but forgot I had master black level still at 15 and it looked really nice haha. Didn't even realize until I looked back at my camera after grading. And I definitely noticed a ridiculous green cast without andrews setting for gamma dr. But the film convert profile compensates nicely for this.

Shot with vasile's 140 mbps. Still from 4k on 1080 timeline. Andrew's gamma DR settings but no LOG LUT. Just used visioncolor impulz rec.709 tetrachrome FC + Curves, saturation boost and vignette. Used 16-50S lens. Sick footage everyone! I'm surely having fun with the NX1!!

I think the issue he was describing, or at least the one I'm thinking of is that everytime you enter video standby it defaults to continous autofocus :/ then you have to push the af back button everytime and/or choose saf. Just gets annoying.
-
These are the two most annoying things about nx1 video mode to me lol would be awesome to get them fixed. I wish video standby defaulted to single auto focus, not continuous which typically sucks. Or if your nx1 lens doesn't have a focus switch then manual mode all the time would be handy.
-
Good luck on your search for a new nx1 my man. EBay seems to be the best bet as others have said. My gripe is the used prices are way too high in the US. I'm a nx1 16-50s lens combo owner wanting to complete a collection of the 85, 50-150 and fisheye but dang I'm really discouraged and it makes me want to bail on the nx1 haha.

I ended up selling my sigma 18-35 for this reason. Just feels too front heavy on the nx1 with an adapter samsung 16-50 S is perfect handheld though

In my testing I've found it to be around 1.15 additional crop. Maybe its adaptive to how much shake is going on? I did the test on a tripod and compared. 24mm with dis was equivalent to about 27.5 mm non dis. My test is not 100% accurate or scientific either. When it comes to hacking maybe there is something in the code that defines the crop amount of DIS? I wonder if its just a digital crop or it its actually cropping in on the sensor. If it's sensor crop then maybe we can modify this to get a pseudo crop for extra telephoto and less rolling shutter
-
Yeah try DIS with OIS on, it's very smooth on the 16-50 S. Tripod like if you hold still. I personally wouldnt use DIS without ois turned on if the lens supports it. But I'm a fan of DIS turned on with vintage adapted glass too.
-
Regarding DIS: I don't know if it's just me but it seems buttery smooth compared to before the hack. I did some testing with 35mm canon FD and its really nice. Still though in my opinion DIS doesn't work well on anything over 35mm handheld. But with longer lenses and a rig or a Samsung OIS lens its like warp stabilizer.

Oh now I understand. I wasn't aware the lx100 had a bayonet system for attachments like that. Thanks for the link. I also read that the panasonic lx7 bayonet accessory tube might be compatible with the lx100. I wonder if a 2x anamorphic attachment would work on the lx100 in 4:3 at max zoom (87mm) I have a proskar laying around that I will try eventually.
-
This is great, anamorphic looks nice on the lx100! I was recently thinking about anamorphic on my lx100. Thanks for the idea! I want to try the anamoprhic shop vm lens because it's very small and wouldn't need any extra adapters. But i'm worried about the lx100 sensor size being too large. The vm lens is recommended for bmpc sized sensors. The canon g7 accessory tube, what exactly is it for and can it be purchased online? Thanks!

This would be great for easily matching the nx1 with nx500 If they would include all the color profiles. We should let them know that nx500 users would like this too. So that opens up the demand a lot more.

RetroFlex-S - Rolleiflex styling video rig for a5100 and bmpcc!

Looks neat. I can see this really working for when I do run and gun/docs at vintage car shows. I really like the record trigger in the grip. If they would make this for the a6000 series I would be all over it. -
It definitely is a blast to shoot with for run and gun. Nice auto focus for grabbing shots. Stabilization is decent enough. Really impressive macro closeups at the wide end. Weak telephoto though. I think it hits around 80 mm in 4k crop. Never had any reliability issues with it. When it comes grading it's tricky. Film convert using gh4 profiles works ok with some tweaking. There is a flattener LUT floating around in the topic Liam linked to that works ok. I have yet to find the secrect sauce for grading but I think it's an acceptable image given the price. Here is some basic testing I did with the lx100

A little off topic but I have a few notes on 1080p NX1 capture. I was just experimenting with a 1080p capture card today and its sort of a goofy workaround to getting overlays to turn off completely for a clean 1080p out. Unless I'm missing something... First you have to go to user display menu and turn off date, buttons and icons. Also you have to turn off audio recording to get the mic level to disappear and make sure to press UP on the d-pad while in video mode to turn off histogram/level and put yourself into the half shutter capture mode which the title will disappear after a little. Also if you touch the screen to focus the white square will appear and stay there. So in other words... it sort of sucks haha. Maybe I missed something though. Raney is there a more simple way to get rid of all the overlays?

All great suggestions. Dean nailed my idea's for video mode. I'd also love the ability to have selectable video mode presets. Like a custom mode you could save settings to and switch between 24p and 120p for example. Like I used to easily do on the gh4 lol. Video mode kind of needs an overhaul. Its rather an afterthought on the nx1.

Indeed the fotasy nikon g adapter with aperture ring rocks. I wouldn't even bother with anything more expensive. This is the exact one I got: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=221804455384&alt=web

I'd also agree that the manual focus on the 16-50 S lens is really smooth. Doesn't feel cheap or jerky. And the auto focus is great too in single auto focus mode. I have not had much luck using it in continuous. But I love tapping the screen and having it focus exactly where I want. The sigma 18-35 works nicely on the NX1. Really sharp, great lens. Fotasy G adapter with aperture control ring is decent and inexpensive.

Big news for us nx1 users indeed! Dare I say the native h.265 files look better/more detailed than the transcoded ones? I'll have to do a side by side comparison. But wow yeah these files play super smooth and edit perfectly on my system.

Bought the Panasonic DVX100 - tried to make it look like super 8

Really cool look, Ed. I'd love to see more of it. Reminds of the days shooting with dad's vhs camcorder except this looks way better haha . -
Shooting with a 4K pocket camera - the exceptional Panasonic LX100
shanebrutal replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Indeed that is very nice. I have impulz and use it with my gh4 but haven't been able to match it well with the lx100 on standard. Do you still use your flatenner lut with those settings on natural? -

Hi, thanks for your findings I plan to try this out soon. Is this for the Standard picture style in the lx100? -
Ohh I see. I totally missed the fz200. Fz300 Pretty much looks like a 4k upgrade.
