  1. Interesting... it seems we now have some confirmation that the X-T3 is indeed using a new Samsung senior. 1.30 into the video...
  2. I orders a $h!t ton of batteries... so I have that covered. Ergos... not sure which will win there.. I don't dislike the GH5S. These are both great cameras. I did opt for the battery grip with the Fuji. I like the option for shooting stills in portrait. When it comes to IBIS, I have mixed feelings. Actually, they are not really mixed... I like IBIS for stills, but would prefer not to use if for video. I hate the warping that sometimes happens to footage when shooting video on cameras with IBIS. That said, I have a Ronin S, which should help with camera shake. I would like to see lens control from the Ronin S... I think there is a good chance it will happen for this camera.
  3. Good for you... tomorrow is going to be some happy shooting. I am very curious how this will fair against the GH5S. I might bring both along over the weekend to do a comparo. While I am betting the GH5/S will have the edge as a "video only" camera, I am thinking the Fuji will redeem itself with straight out of camera IQ and nostalgic charm... there is such a thing... I think? Stills will be dominated by the Fuji.
  4. Got in the F2 trinity yesterday, and decided to add a 16mm F1.4 as everyone seems to agree that it is the best lens in Fuji lineup. Tomorrow should be fun ?
  5. Did you go for next day? I did, figured I could have a play over the weekend.
  6. I'm definitely interested if it is of good quality and works well. I wonder would the opersite be possible for the EF mount Super35 cameras, like the C200 or the similar video mode crop of the 1DXMk2?
  7. Mine reads,”In Stock, order sent to warehouse.”
  8. DPReview have added the X-T3 to there comparison thingy... Here is a link.
  9. The GH5S may well be the best video camera in this format available for run and gun. It’s a great little camera.
  10. The F2 trio are the best bet for video if choosing primes. They are quiet and focus quickly and smoothly in the test that I have watched comparing them to the older and faster primes.
  11. Well that may be true, but I'm sure everyone is also interested in highlight roll off, skin tones, dynamic range, colors... as well as looking out for the infamous black sun. I've already decided to purchase this camera... but always nice to see footage while waiting the next few weeks to months for the cameras to start shipping.
  12. It would be great if this was not slowmo. One cannot judge motion cadence with slow motion footage.
  13. Fuji is aware of this problem and a new firmware is already in the works. He missed it as he got an early model.
  14. Sure, it's as much for myself. I want to understand the differences and where the strengths and weaknesses lie. I'm waiting on a Ninja V, so I will forgo an FLog vs. VLogL shootout as far as pushing the color grade goes. What really I am interested in is how filmic, both in imagery and motion cadence the XT3 can look out of camera with minimal post processing.
  15. Well never say never... but I get where you are coming from. Just ordered the XT3 today along with a set of primes. Will do a head to head vs the GH5S if anyone is interested in seeing it?
  16. Was he using oem batteries? I ran into a similar issue with my GH5 when using third party batteries. The camera went nuts... started auto firing the shutter a gazillion times with the screen frozen. Only pulling the battery helped. Repeated the exact same sequence of events both with oem and third party batteries with 100% repeatability. The oem batteries ran fine.
  17. I'm inclined to believe this. This sensor does not feel very Sony to me. And how else could Fuji have leapfrogged the competition so quickly? I'm blown away by how capable the AF appears. The organic feel and motion cadence do not match what I have seen thus far from Sony. The Fuji XT3 NX2? maybe... but the question then remains... what about battery life?
  18. Not sure about this cameras bashing... any one of the cameras mentioned is good enough to get the job done. I had the GH5 and sold it... did not like the low ISO performance... ie: i was unwilling to carry a lighting kit. I own the GH5S, and while it's great, the out of cameras colors are not too my liking so I find more often than not I am shooting VLogL. The auto focus is... well, honestly MIA.. keep in mind I have been spoiled by Canons DPAF. What attracted me to the XT3 is the image straight out of camera. Now, you can get technical all you want. But at the end of the day your audience will give not a single fCk. All they will notice is the image... and they will really only notice that in the most extreme cases... and if they do notice it immediately... it means your story is failing. Comparing the XT3 to the GH5/s... the image seems more organic. I can't say if one has more or less DR... the GH5S is more than usable. Both are great cameras. Here is what cliches it for me... the XT3 has a 26MP sensor, serviceable autofocus, and a Super35 sensor. It's fairly compact... even more so than the GH5/S. The baked in colors and film simulations make for less work in post. The GH5S is on paper the more robust video camera... but it does so at the expense of being a capable stills camera. If you are looking for a true hybrid I feel the advantage goes to the Fuji. This is good news... competition is good. This means Panasonic will step up their game. Maybe we'll see this "organic sensor" they have been working on for the last several years? Who knows? $h!t's about to get real!
  19. The way I see it is all cameras shoot raw. But that raw image is then processed in camera... this has varying degrees of success. Sometimes the option is given for minimal processing (log). But if the camera can process the image to be lovely in camera then the need for raw is removed. This camera is surprisingly good.
  20. @Jimmy Looks great, not sure about that huge MK lens... I envision this as a great travel camera. Also, I'm thinking footage will be pretty dam usable straight out of camera. With no real CG needed.
  21. Exactly, it can record an hour plus... but you need pocket to support it's appetite for storage... And that storage had better be fast. I have had lesser "bargain" CFast card produce errors as they could not manage the data rate. There are SSD solutions for the C200 also. Granted, with the collection of CFast cards I acquired, I would have no difficulty feeding the P4k. I want to see the camera in the hands of independent reviewers. I'm going to get one... it's so cheap that it would be silly not to have one on hand. That said, I think many will get this camera, only to sell if shortly thereafter. It will not be for the casual shooter. Don't be fooled, in the right hands almost any of the usual suspect could produce amazing footage. This reminds me of something that happened to me when I was 4 years old. I was walking in London with my father. Then a short distance away something caught my attention. There in the hustle and bustle of down town London stood a man. Floating above him was a replica of an Airship. I marveled at the attention to detail. I was captivated by how realistic it looked. I begged my father to purchase one of the replicas that the man was selling. He looked at me and patted me on the head after paying the stranger and handing me a small envelope containing the wondrous replica. I recall pondering, how it was possible to fit such a magnificent model into such a small package? Later that day we arrived safely back home. I was eager to open the package to see this incredible work of art. Upon opening the envelope my heart sank.... the package contained nothing more than a gray ballon. It looked nothing like the amazing model that the man was holding. I sadly realized there was no way I would be able to make it look like the model the man had shown me. I learned something that day... And it has stuck with me ever since. I supposed what I'm saying is that I believe some are really looking for Hollywood in a box... Any camera can produce compelling stories... but first you need a compelling story... and all the other element to tell it. The camera is only one part of the puzzle.
  22. Here is some info from Canon's website. The C200 records in Canon RawLite format.
