I don't hear any mention of video at all.
-
I suppose in Hasselblad logic. At $5700 it's actually pretty cheap for a Hasselblad body. Two points: While the lack of IBIS does not concern me hugely for video, Hasselblad has yet to mention any video capabilities of this camera. So I take that to mean it is a stills only camera. The lack of IBIS is a major concern with a medium format stills only camera. Hasselblad have not announced the price of the new digital back. But to my thinking, it needs to be offered at no more than half the price of the X1D2 as it uses the same sensor. At that price it might be an interesting option. Will the CFV 50C digital back be capable of shooting video? I believe the old one was stills only... and I believe that was a missed opportunity. Oh, was that you?

Hasselblad did actually release two new cameras today. They also announced the 907X camera body with the new CFV II 50C digital back.
-
Yeah... boring!
-
Well no one outside of Hasselblad knows what sensor or what camera will be released. We are only speculating at this point.

I'm not "pro" IBIS, unless it can be locked down when shooting video. After seeing the latest EIS from DJI and GoPro, I am convinced that some flavor of EIS is a better option for video work.
-
I'm hoping it handles video better than the GFX100. Honestly, rolling shutter is genuinely a problem on the Fuji from what I've seen. And anyone that's read my post would know I am generally not concerned with rolling shutter. But on the GFX100, any movement can quickly induce the jello effect. I would be be happy with a Rocksteady stabilized full frame mode on the Hasselblad. RockSteady seems much better than IBIS for video. They have ample data to oversample and crop in to make it viable. Lets hope the only place that Hasselblad took half measures is in the price tag.
-
Hard to say if that's the case, but on closer inspection you may be correct. Honestly, I'm hoping for the V1D... IMO that would be awesome as I love the 500 series. The latest teaser would seem to suggest a connection to the 500 series. We will know tomorrow. Price is a big factor. Let's hope it's no more than the Fuji GFX 100.

You might have inadvertently disabled the grip record button in the menu... which is an option btw.

More clues... to my eyes the lens mount appears different. Also the distance between the button and the lens mount seems far less on the teased image? Teased image of button with lens mount: Current X1D... notice the space between the button and rim of mount. Also notice that mount appears to be shaped differently. Latest teased image:
-
All the images that they are teasing look exactly like the orginal X1D... this makes me think that maybe these are not pictures of the actual camera that is going to be released. When DJI teases they generally tease something new and different. What if the camera that they release is actually the V1D?

I've used that camera, it's not great. There's a reason it never took off.
-
Film has rolling shutter, as explained here. It's just fast. I do notice a difference in global shutter. For me it's more about motion cadence... which I feel looks better on GS.
-
Yes, it seems the official name will be X1D Mark II. Word is the Fuji GFX 100 uses the Sony IMX 461 sensor. I very much doubt that the sensor is hot swapable .
-
Sounds like a great idea... but there are great ideas that people talk about... and then there are great ideas that people buy. To that end... did you buy one?

I’m thinking this may get the new Sony sensor that was linked a few months ago. I’m not sure that we will see IBIS, but with 100MP plus to play with on a medium format sensor, the DJI RockSteady tech would have plenty of image data to work with for perfectly stabilized full frame or S35 crops. I’m curious to see what benefits, if any have come from DJI’s acquisition of Hasselblad.

Do hobbyists buy cameras... or is that only reserved for professionals? If I was running a camera company I would want to know what my customers wanted regardless of their profession. FYI: No pros are dropping Red and Arri for a JVC.
-
One can always buy a used GH2.

Vazen are also making a set with full frame coverage. But it will be PL only. Because there are no PL anamorphic options? Though they did not list a price. I understand it's hard. But if Moment can make lens adapters that fit on an iPhone... and the size of the iPhone lens + adapter is smaller than a pancake lens... then I think a reasonable quality zoom lens could be created that didn't cost as much as a Range Rover Sport. Or even as much as the $3000 Vazen. And I believe it could all be done while turning a profit. Leica makes great cameras. But you could probably get similar results with a much more affordable cameras. Maybe even better. Leica is a luxury item. So the price is understandable. But are All anamorphic lenses luxury items? They certainly price them like they are. Even the shitty, crap quality ones.
-
Well, using your logic it follows that since you can also rent Red and Arri cameras, there is zero need to price anything affordably enough for an enthusiast to own. After all, everything can be rented. Move along, nothing to see. But where I come from, sometimes people like to own things. And as $4k is more a prosumer / enthusiast market. I believe many enthusiast would like to shoot with a modern anamorphic cinema camera. If this was not the case Moment would not have made an anamorphic adapter for smartphones. And for the record... should someone produce a camera such as this, within a price that enthusiast would consider, it does not prevent you from still renting a Red or Arri with a set of Anamorphic primes for your next major Hollywood feature.

So here it is... Hasselblad is back with a big announcement coming soon. Is this the successor to the ill fated X1D? New and improved.... with perhaps the latest leaked Sony sensor that sports all the goodies to trump Fujis GFX 100? Get your popcorn... and wallets ready??
-
The only problem I have with full frame anamorphic support is there are no lenses that anyone buying a $4k cinema camera would purchase. You're looking at a minimum of $3k per lens... even for garbage SLR Magic full frame primes. To think the whole set can be had for what they use to ask for a single lens? ... and still I wouldn't buy them. Honestly, I wouldn't even take them for free. So anamorphic wise what does that leave?... your best current option is perhaps ther Orion optics lenses... so $24k for a set. Those aren't an option for operators that spend $4k for a body. And don't even think about zooms... they start at $65k... and that lens doesn't even cover full frame. And AF with an anamorphic? Sorry nothing exist. If anyone makes a cinema camera with built in Anamorphic zoom, reasonably fast, a nice image, minimum of 10 bit, a editable codec, 14-16 stops dynamic range, clean iso to 6400 and good AF... with a rotating screen... that can use affordable media... Well, they will sell like hotcakes. And don't tell me they can't make a decent quality anamorphic zoom with AF with clutchable manual option for reasonable money. Anamorphics have been around from the 1920's... It can be done. And mark my words... the first cinema camera that includes this feature in a practical way will be a big hit. I'm astounded that no one has done it yet. Anamorphic is synonymous with cinema.

The format doesn’t lend itself to connections like SDI. Imo we have enough hybrids. How about a real cinema camera format?
