  1. If this camera was $2000 I would take a chance on it. But given I can go with well established brands for this kind of money, well that's what I'll do. Already have an order for a Canon 1DX Mk II, and I know that will be a sound purchase with world class support. Kinefinity... Not so much. They need to build some street creds and have local pro-level service in place before they start demanding this kind of money. And honestly, it doesn't matter how well these cameras perform if the first two criterias are not met. End of story.
  2. Not bad, but it doesn't scream "must have" either. Just not feeling any magic from it.
  3. But people know Blackmagic Designs, whereas Kiniwho... ?
  4. They need to stop going after Red and Arri and focus on bringing out something affordable enough so that people will pick one up out of curiosity. That way they can build a reputation. Especially if the new cameras are bang for the buck stars.
  5. Gotta think there will be largely nothing to see. Granted, the 1Dx Mkii was a surprise. But since this is supposed to replace the 1Dc and 1Dx mki perhaps it's appropriate.
  6. This wait thing is fine, assuming you don't have to shoot anything. Clearly some companies can be taken at their word to deliver what they promise, and others cannot. I vote with my wallet:-)
  7. "For most filmakers"... so amateurs... since most "filmakers" are amateurs. Nuff said.
  8. Ask yourself this, what would it need to do in order to be "better" than the 1DX Mkii without stepping on the toes of the Cinema line? Not gonna happen. Might be a match for the A7Sii, but it will fall short of a decisive victory. Expect 24 fps 4k, cropped with canon color. Don't expect iso performance of the 1DX Mkii. Don't expect CLog.
  9. Wonder what they'll announce at NAB? :-)
  10. I'll agree, after viewing the footage it looks great. But I'm done with Blackmagic... for now. Personally, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the Canon 1DX Mkii. I believe it will prove more versatile, and honestly just as cinematic, with great colors to boot instead of the somewhat muted Blackmagic look. And now that it is clear that the Global shutter is not going to happen, there seems little reason to roll the dice... yet again with Blackmagic. Especially when a perfectly viable and rock-solid alternative... that is weather sealed... and built like a tank with bet your life on it reliability will be out shortly. As Superman once said... "Too late Luther... too late".
  11. No they have not! http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=29352.0
  12. Can we have a few screen grabs from these profiles? It's really hard to get a feel for what they look like from reading a bunch of settings.
  13. I too love the look of Canon and Blackmagic cameras. I have owned both and currently own the A7Rii. It's a great camera, but I've yet to find a picture profile that really excites me. I plan to do some extensive fooling around this weekend to see if I can happen across anything that has that "spark" to it. In any case, I caved and purchased the Canon 1DX Mkii so I will have something to fall back on that delivers that magic straight out of the camera. I did consider the Blackmagic Ursa mini 4.6k, but from my past experience I'm certain that camera will be filled with bugs and quirks and will be awful in low light. So I'll skip the Mini for now. Besides, knowing Blackmagic it will be another year before the Mini 4.6 is released.
  14. FYI I will be posting some comparos of settings this weekend. And BTW: just bit the bullet and pulled the trigger on a Canon 1DX Mkii. I'll let yhall know how that works out.
  15. Letus Helix Jr, by a mile!
  16. So with all this debate aside, do you have one to post?
  17. Do you have any screen grabs of this?
  18. So you have one of the above cameras? Let see your favorite picture profile settings. Please post a frame grab also... so we can see what the end result is. DO NOT grade in post. This is so we can see what is capable straight out of the camera. Personally, I am still not settled on any profile. I found my NX1 far easier in regards to color... And don't get me started on my Canons, they really were effortless in regards to color. So let see em, perhaps we can find enough great profiles to help make these cameras shine.
  19. Enable your Cuda cores. That will make a huge difference.
  20. Looks great, tell me more about the color grade on this.
  21. Personally, I'm preferring the Canon 1dx mkii over this.
