A calibrated LG 3440x1440 IPS monitor, and a Panasonic Viera Plasma hand calibrated running off a Fury X. Other than that, I use the scopes to determine proper white/black rather than the monitor. If the overall image looks great on both monitors, I'm set.

A feature film that I'm proud of.

I'm betting Moonlight will win Best Picture, tons of backlash for La La Land and it is weighted voting. La La Land is a lock for cinematography though.

Don't like the grain there at all, disappears in the darker areas, which might be youtube's doing.

Supposedly it is excellent. But at that price point your getting into URSA 4.6k territory. If you can afford it, that camera is incredible (though storage media/viewfinder can kill the "affordability")

Wow. That channel is incredible.

asd While the DR is compressed (can't tell if original clips) the colors and skin tone are impressive.

I've moved over to Resolve entirely except for projects given to me. Premiere has just given me so many goddamn headaches. To many corrupt projects, failed stabilizations (Nesting being required to stabilize is the single biggest pain in the ass for documentary work.), and delay causing errors means I am finished with it. I absolutely love working with color in Resolve, and the editing is exceptional for me. Though it requires a very powerful setup to run smoothly. Would give FCPX a try, but I work mainly on Windows machines.

Your looking at more than $1000 for anything 10-Bit that's also a decent size.

Flyby quickie question: is the title-safe zone dead?
Geoff CB replied to HelsinkiZim's topic in Cameras
I still think they should be followed. It's not good for fonts to be near the edge of the frame, it draws the viewers eye to the edge itself. You can get closer than you did before, but you still want some padding. -
Why did I click through, those videos are terrible.

Honestly give me a D750 with the same DR/color in 4K 10-bit and I will buy one immediately. I still to this day go back and forth on buying a D750 again, but I hold out hope it's successor will have 4K. I wanted these compacts, badly.

As someone who was a Nikon shooter for a LONG time and was looking forward to the 18-50 this is very disappointing.

Personally I think the image is fantastic for internal. Also don't forget the far higher bitrate as well.

Thanks, it's for a horror short that I filmed more that a month ago that I'm just now getting a chance to grade. My jaw is constantly on the floor with the image quality.

I second an ultrawide 34". I find it the best balance of detail/screen size. They are expensive, but very much worth it.

S-Log 2. Expose it as high as you can without clipping your highlights. Do NOT underexpose, you will not easily be able to bring it up in post.

A7rII FF 4K: Less detail (~3.2K), worse in low light (ISO 1280 max in S-Log2), better Rolling Shutter performance (18 ms). My preferred way of shooting. A7rII Super 35 4K: More detail, better in low light (Clean in S-log2 up to 3200 Iso), far worse rolling shutter (31ms). Why I would buy the A7r II over the A7s II: Base S-Log ISO: A7rII: 800 iso, A7sII: 3200 iso . This makes a gigantic difference if your shooting outdoors! 4K shooting modes on a7sII have worse RS Better AF. Why I would buy the A7s II over the A7r II: Low light Sharper Full Frame Image S-Log 3 + Viewing LUT in camera. I do miss this when shooting A7r II. Can't wait until they announce the A7r 3, that way I can get a second one.

s Great color and motion cadence, does not look like much rolling shutter at all.

Gorgeous! Was this shot in 1080p?

Resolve with the Dongle I have found is very smooth with NX1 footage.

Still so pissed we never got a successor. Still my favorite skin tones of ANY camera.
