  1. I shot a short with 4.1. Magenta was in the corners when shooting wider than 28mm. Hope 4.2 fixed that. The SDI for the viewfinder broke on set. I was shooting in the woods, the internal fan has no mesh covering, you can see right through the body. I used the camera on a low angle shot and a small twig jammed the fan, I had to shut down the unit and pull it out with tweezers. It creates an incredible image, but build quality is far away from what's needed. I would rather they raised the cost to $10000 and up the build quality.
  2. Mononoke Hime is my favorite film ever made. I hope he keeps creating. Documentary was a very interesting look at his current outlook and work. "An important thing is trying not to regret anything when you complete your job." Edit: I do not understand how the group pitching that software could be so clueless to how he would respond to the movement example. Did they do ANY research before coming up for the pitch??
  3. Because the F35 is built like a tank compared to the easily broken Ursa, and has an incredible image without any magenta issues?
  4. Late 2015 Imac and Devinchi Resolve 12.5. Resolve really chews up vRAM and will crash constantly when it doesn't have enough.
  5. Because the computer we edited on crashed every. single. time. we went above 2K on the export because it only has 2 gigs of vRAM. Using a different computer for our final grading and output.
  6. Medium is a fantastic free site as well.
  7. 1) If those settings work for you and you enjoy the results, stick with them! 2) Native ISO just means the lowest ISO you can use in S-log mode. Going to lower values outside of that mode should not lower quality 3) What do you mean by PP?
  8. Got a 42" Viera Free yesterday from a woman that bought a new LED panel who was going to throw it away. Plasma is still unmatched in image quality except for high-end OLED. Also closest you'll get to theater look in my opinion. Next panel I buy is going to have to meet Dolby Vision specifications. Don't see the point of buying something half-way there.
  9. Keep in mind that those are photo assessments only, has nothing to do with the video quality. A7r2 is better in photo mode than A7s2 because of downsampling, but A7s2 is incredible for low light video.
  10. I'm going to second this, rented it for 3 shoots this year, 2 videos and one Wedding photo shoot. It's performance is incredible.
  11. I really enjoy Devinchi Resolve's film grain, also use Film Convert in premiere. Seems to add texture to the image.
  12. Use Resolve then. Stop paying Adobe.
  13. -I have read a bit about Aces but I don´t see any advantages with that because I just have one type of files! Don't bother with ACES unless you require it. Most LUT's and many of the color correction tools in Resolve do not work properly in ACES. -What colorspace to use in the camera raw tab? BMD or 709? Use the BMD to get the DR you want. -What node structure is the best? correction before or after look/lut? when to use scopes? when to correct skintones? I typically do base lift/gain adjustment -> Individual section of the scene adjustments -> clean up skin -> stabilization/noise reduction -> Then apply look
  14. Thanks Mercer! Glad you liked the trailer overall. Interesting comment on the order, it's a critique I haven't heard yet.

Yeah I felt the same, I didn't have final say in the trailer cut. Was responsible for the visuals only, not anything else

    Shot with my 20, 28, 40, 58, and 90mm Voigtlander Lenses with the Blackmagic 4.6K and Sony A7r 2.
  17. Shot in 2 weeks on a Blackmagic 4.6K and a Sony A7r 2 with Voigtlander Lenses. Aerial video on a DJI Phantom 3. Rip it to shreds!
  18. Great video, fun seeing them perform and practice on the tables.
  19. If Vesku uses Auto ISO for video work it's a valid question. I use it in documentary work as well, and it would be useful to know if this camera has it.
  20. I think you should go for the Olympus, the A6500 has been reviewed everywhere and is a known entity. The Olympus isn't getting a large amount of coverage elsewhere.
  21. The opposite of Canon, you want to expose the image as much as possible before you clip the highlights. In my experience you HAVE to lower dark areas. Never raise them or you will get noise. 1600 has a large amount of fixed pattern noise. The URSA has a lot of space to play with the highlights, very little for shadows.
  22. I shot a short film on the URSA 4.6K, and I would go with the 1dxII if you want a run & gun "available light" kit. While the highlights are amazing, the sensor really needs light. Your choices for a good image is ISO 400 & 800. ISO 1600 is garbage and you will never be able to bring up blacks if you underexpose. The URSA also requires V-mount batteries, and cFAST cards. So if your shooting narrative, and your comfortable shooting only ISO 800, and want utmost image quality, get the URSA. Otherwise go with the Canon.
  23. This. A7sII is mainly a video camera, native lenses work decently but the good Full Frame AF is pretty much relegated to the A7 II and A7r II
