Noo not even close. The 28-70 is based on a much older lens design. Color maybe a bit closer than Nikon/Canon, but nowhere close on "look" and rendering. That 11-20 is razor sharp, so to get it close to matching you would need to soften it significantly either with a filter or in post to match the 28-70. For event work I'd use them both. Never for a matching interview or film shoot though.

I've used the 11-20, love it and the focus ring is physical and a bit stiff, which I like in a wide angle. Good clean look, but difficult to match color wise with other lenses.

I would use whatever gets you good results. If your happy with that I would use it! This is the profile I've been using with my A7r II.

If your in the Northeast US check out Lensprotogo, they are great and they do full kits for rent instead of pieces of gear. Their URSA rental includes the viewfinder, shoulder mount, and battery.

Always test a camera yourself. A lot of people dislike the Sony look. But that's also because the Sony cameras have such a array of options to create your own look, canon has the fast turn around. With Sony you have to develop your own workflow. I personally love it, enjoy the look that I've created on my A7r II. 4.6K Fantastic if your shooting a movie at 800 iso. Incredible image with wide DR. However, 1600 is near unusable and it has no ND filters. It is not an event camera. Also you need a lot of light to use the Slow motion option on that camera. I would rent a FS5 for a weekend and see what you think.

They will meter but you wont have AF, also depending on the prime they have very bad focus rings. The AF-D zooms however are some of the best lenses ever made.

In what universe?

I hope they take the A7r II sensor and stick in a FS7 style body. Have the option of full frame and still have the great center crop from that camera. Maybe throw in a 6K full read out of the S35 portion of it.

Thanks for the complement. I too like the look I got in that video. Yeah I actually loved the D750/nikon images, usability wise it was an issue with me before because I was doing a lot of Run & Gun. Now that I shoot mainly sticks, I'm considering picking one up. I don't know what nikon does, but I do think they have better motion cadence than Canon. I do also miss my D800, just something about it's image. It's weakness was it's horrific moire.

Miss my D750, mainly do to the clean gradable image in the very compact codec.

The 58mm is very sharp even wide open, but does have chromatic abberation until ~f2.2.

Yes I do. I prefer the background rendering of the 40mm but the color is still great on it and it "pops" a bit more.

As someone who is currently shooting on a Ursa Mini 4.6K I've had a great time shooting 4.6K ProRes 4:2:2 at 800 ISO at 24 fps. The image is incredible to work with, but it does not like it when you push it outside of those settings, and you never EVER want to underexpose your blacks, you will not be able to recover them in post. The more light you give the image the better.

I thought you didn't want to spend your whole budget on a camera? It's a fantastic option, with great features and 4K, with the RAW output available for your film work. It's Autofocus is inferior to the C100 Mark 2, and it's menu system is much more complicated. You'll have to add the cost of the Metabones adapter to get all the features of your canon lenses as well.

All I want for chrismas is a 28-105 f4.

If you do not need 4K, I agree you should get C100 Mark II.

Not the type of movie I typically enjoy, but about half-way through I entirely forgot about analyzing it and was just drawn in. If your going to use for promotion I would ad temp credits to the opening, those not in the know would grow bored with that part. Great work!

Ok I loved the NX1 when I had it, but stop blowing smoke up it's ass. You could say the same thing for every single Nikon and Canon camera (and Canon's have RAW hacks)

RS is on of the most defining differences between high end cameras and consumer ones. If I cannot use pans in a shot that takes away a storytelling tool. And the A6300 isn't simply bad, it's horrendous, it's easily the worst performing RS of any consumer camera. It makes it unusable in any professional filmmaking setting, relocating it to use in interviews and event work.

Nikon D750 has a great 60fps mode with no crop. Some lower end nikons are great with this as well.
