No its the full sensor, no crop.

Gorgeous color and look, horrific rolling shutter (yes I'm obsessed with this issue, but it really stands out in this dog clip.)
-
They note at the end of the video they are shooting in FF mode, which is worse low light performance. I also think they screwed up the white balance, bad representation.
-
2.5K mode on the NX500. Very impressive RS performance.
-
What the hell are they thinking?
-
I have the 64gb version of that card and I was hitting 220 mbps. But the default 180 is already a huge improvement if your worried about issues.
-
Well it is a surprise that they included built in image stabilization. That's a first for a canon.
-
While not fully fixed, it does seem like the readout speed for the sensor is a bit faster because this looks shot on a long lens. Excellent image, very fun to grade.
-
Because I love lenses and holding gear and cameras. I hope I can turn it into my profession that pays the bills, but if I don't I will be doing it as a hobby as long as I can.

Sigma re-housed their stills lenses into cine bodies

All comes down to price, it they are reasonable we'll see these everywhere. -
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?303559-Measuring-rolling-shutter-put-a-number-on-this-issue! Personally RS is hugely important to me.

Sorry what I meant was that I shoot in S-LOG then mess with it endlessly in post, at the expense of working on the edit itself to make it better. More on topic, I do think the film grain and film look are not as popular now as just a few years ago. I think films will be moving away from film in terms of look to something that looks good on their own. To give an example MAD MAX is the direction I think budget grades are heading in, over-the-top bright and attention grabbing, not subtle looks.
-
I think what I have to get away from is the "fix it in post" mentality. I actually prefer a clean image right off the camera. I have to stop shooting in S-log on my A7r 2, every time I use it I just don't need it. Normal audiences DO NOT CARE about a "film - like" image and I have to constantly remind myself of this fact.
-
That is a damn good range. Might have to eventually get this for my A7r2

Quick test of the 40mm Voightlander with the A7r 2 and SLR Magic Anamorphot. Also a Back to the Future Parody shot with the Voightlander 20/28/40/90 on NX1:

Fully manual all settings, even in event work. Have had to many times when a camera made the wrong choice for me. I will check out Smartrange+ again and do more tests with it because your results look very good with highlight rolloff.
-
That is amazing, does the bitrates carry over as well, 150 mbps+? Thank you so much for the info and work on this. When my NX500 arrives I plan to do an extensive testing with this mode.
-
My main concern with Smartrange+ is it altering exposure mid-shot. If it's an on/off effect, that could be very useful. Videographers just tend to shy away from anything "Auto" for fear of it doing unknown things to the video. I sold my NX1, but buying back into the Samsung line with the NX500, the same great colors and better RS (which killed the NX1 for me).

If weight with high end lenses is a concern, I would try out Panasonic if your not interested in stills. If you are Fuji's upcoming camera looks pretty good.
-
I enjoy this lens, but it has some of the worst close focusing I have ever seen.
-
I honestly wish they would keep cineform in the camera's alongside Prores, I much prefer the Cineform codec.

Samsung hack forum for discussion of all cameras not just NX1
Geoff CB replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I second this! I'm very interested in 2.5K with high bitrate on the NX500. How do you set the higher bitrate in this mode? -
Incredible piece of kit, they managed to get some fantastic rendering out of it. I imagine that it's going to sell like mad. I hope the low cost of this drives down the price of older zooms like the Cooke 20-200 even further.
