  1. Congrats man! Hope it goes well for you. Trailer looked great, seems like you got some great performances. Song choice was spot on and the story strikes at theme that everyone can relate too. Wish I was in L.A. to make it. 2 parts bugged me in the trailer, I hope you don't mind me saying so. 1) Shot at :49 is jarring and lasts to long. This is made worse by the reaction shot immediately after being so quick. 2) At 1:31 that hallway shot with the ambient audio threw me a bit. The shot before is "I'm leaving but I'm coming back!". Maybe have the edit: "I'm leaving b-" *cut to hallway* "-ut I'm coming back!"
  2. Wow, gorgeous work. I know you were shooting natural light and it works for most of the video, but I would have loved to see some fill added at 2:41 and 2:47. Other than that, great stuff.
  3. I think manual only lenses are the only good long term bet. I own the 16-50 and the 50-150, the fact that no one has made an electronic E-mount adapter yet for them is not a great indicator for their long term value. They are priceless on my NX1 though so I will probably use them until they are broken.

    One Lens?

I operated like that for awhile and I just couldn't maintain it. To many times I would end up re-buying a lens I had previously sold to afford a new lens. When I realized eventually my kit had shrunk and I was just not using my glass, but just constantly evaluating it. Now I've pretty much gone the opposite extreme, I'm not selling anything unless I know I will never want to use the lens again. Slowly building up multiple sets of lenses and "looks".

5.6, But if you nail focus you can get sharp results wide open, this is at f2. They showed a 75mm f1.8 SL II Publicly but never released it Still...might go for the older model one. http://nikonrumors.com/2012/02/14/voigtlander-color-skopar-282-8-sl-ii-n-and-heliar-classic-751-8-sl-ii-n-lenses-announced-f-mount.aspx/

Would love to see your results with the 2x and rangefinder! This is a photo with the 1.33 and the 40
  7. Yup, much better than browsing the entire thread over and over.

Have not tried with the single focus Rangefinder, though I really want to see if it works. I love the results I get with the SLR Magic anamorphot and 40mm but it is difficult to focus with the small ring on the lens.
  9. It's inherent to the design of the lens. Like you said, use it as a series of primes, not for crash zooms. The only exception is at wide open, where this does not occur and the exposure change is smooth. 50-150 thankfully does not have this issue.

They are perfect for me, use them on a D750 and a NX1. Great color, "pop", and the size is is a godsend. Very smooth focus, all metal build. 28, 40, and 90mm work with my SLR magic anamorphot wide open. All have pretty long focus throws (20mm: 180, 28mm: 140, 40mm: 150, 58mm: 200, 90mm: 270), and can focus very close, the 40/90 have macro adapters. All are razor sharp wide open near the center, with the 20mm suffering from poor corners. My least favorite is the 58mm, same great color but different rendering than the rest, and focusing on it is somehow more difficult than the others. I only use it in low light situations.

Finally completed my Voigtlander SL II Set. 20mm, 28mm, 40mm, 58mm, & 90mm. 20 is the last, while not the sharpest It has great rendering and "pop" with very little distortion on faces.
  12. Would love some footage Andrew, like the results from my D750 and want to see if it compares. Hopefully the D760 will have full frame 4K
  13. Rolling shutter is a concern for him, so in situations where he needs better RS performance he can use these modes.
  14. Same thing happened with me, ordered a camera from them because it said it was in stock. Hit the buy button and then received a notice saying it's not in stock and would have to wait 2-3 weeks to receive. They do it because if an item is sold out everywhere it nets them more sales. Will never use them again because of this, it's a shame because I had great experiences with them before that point.
  15. Yeah it is an issue sometimes, but the A7s 1 & 2 are barely better. (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?303559-Measuring-rolling-shutter-put-a-number-on-this-issue! ) Which is why if you were to go Sony I would recommend the a7R 2. It has a great 1080p and 4K FF mode that gives decent RS performance. Or you can use the Super 35 4K for best image quality. Again most of all I would try these cameras, they are both very different ergonomics and menus than your Canon.
  16. I love my NX1, and you can get it and a 16-50s f2-2.8 + 50-150 2.8 lenses for under 3 grand total if you hunt for them. But low light is not the best, but may work well enough for you in documentary situations. RS is not good either. These may be deal breakers for you. The battery life is far, far superior to the Sony E line. A7R 2 if you can afford it is a great option. (https://***URL not allowed***/sony-a7s-ii-vs-a7r-ii-test-which-one/) Good 4K and the best 4K RS performance for it's price if you use the full frame mode. RS on the a7s 2 is just as bad as the NX1. You can still rent these from Lensrentals and give them a shot. I recommend renting a Sony camera and the NX1 with adapters for your Nikon glass and seeing which one you prefer. Spend $200 to make sure your spend $2000+ properly.
  17. Almost their entire in-house staff is Jewish. Generally I've had no problems so far with B&H, adorama I've sworn off, as they are not always entirely clear if something is in stock or not. Also I prefer B&H to Amazon, because I don't like the chance existing that I will purchase from a 3rd party seller. For used stuff, love Keh.com, always accurate descriptions of gear from them.
  18. Those only work for Nikon G lenses not the newest mount design Nikon E that uses an entirely electronic diaphram. I have the Novoflex adapter for my G lenses, it does not work on the tamrons, the lenses are permanently wide open. Nikon info on it: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19485/~/what-are-e-type-lenses%3F D750 Normal setting, no custom profile. Here's the finished promo, only did a slight curve adjustment and vignette.
  19. Nikon G lenses can be controlled in this manner. Nikon recently introduced a new "feature" on the 300mm PF, 200-500mm f5.6, and the new 24-70mm: Electronic Diaphragm. This cannot be changed mechanically, the aperture on these lenses are entirely electronic. It really sucks that Tamron adopted this.
  20. From a simple #teamcap #teamironman ad I just shot. D750 no color correction.
  21. So I've played around with them for a bit won't have time to upload a video until later this weekend but here are my impressions after using them for an hour. - Great Build quality. I enjoy the weight, not overly heavy. - Manual focus great for AF glass. Smooth. 120 degree throw on 85mm, 180 throw on the 35mm - Both lenses breath, but not very badly. - VR is like Nick says above, it's not aggressive at all, just seems to smooth out the "shakies" from handholding. Works really well and doesn't jump at all when panning. Enjoy it so far, thought it is not on the same level as the Samsung S lenses. But the samsung glass can jump on fast pans. - Both lenses are very neutral in their color. I think I will like it for post, but not for straight out of camera looks. - Both are very very sharp. - Electronic aperture mechanisms means you need electronic aperture adapters to use the glass, otherwise you are stuck at f22. No way to shoot with these on the NX1
  22. The 50-150 is parfocal and doesn't breath, it's essentially perfect. It's a steal at the current prices used. Did a shoot with it out on a beach handheld with AF on, incredible results. Very interested in these Tamron's for their stabilization, rented the 35mm and the 85mm to test this weekend on my D750. Will report back with samples and impressions once they arrive today.
  23. Don't turn contrast past -5. Your skin tones suffer significantly if you go past that point!
  24. Forgot to mention the cheap Tokina 28-70, shot this awhile ago with the NX1 and mainly that lens. Has a great look to it.
  25. Such a poor move. Given their refusal to support MP3 audio on the timeline, I'm not holding my breath for support.
