Okay I have to chime in here on the NX1 sharpness that everyone is harping on. Sharpness is not an issue unless it's creating visual artifacts like moire. Like adding sharpening, you can blur the image to your hearts content in most modern editors. Also you can use diffusion and filters to get the look you want. I would rather have the sharp image and reduce it than have to artificially sharpen an image.

It's to cumbersome for live action filmmaking. Your sets have to be fully realized, you can't just build a section of a room, you have to build the entire room and you can't have any of the crew in shot, you can't light the scene except with natural lighting. You can't control what the audience is looking at. Because of these reasons it will never catch on for live action narrative storytelling. It might for CGI films, but for a few years when the environments can be rendered in real time. It's going to explode in the video game community though. When proper motion controllers for peoples hands come out that will be the tipping point. It will be expensive at first but the interactive experience will be incredible.

​Would KILL for this in Nikon mount. I have a 40mm voightlander that's pretty much how I see. Also have to say I would love a low cost 50mm Anamorphic, even if it was f4 I would buy it comes in under a grand.

​Raising the black level lowers the contrast by bringing up detail in the shadows.

I find those setting the best balance between good skin tones right out of the camera and edit-ability. If you want a flatter image put the contrast at -5 and black level at +15. Don't drop the contrast any further though because the color banding and weird color gradients start appearing if you push it.

No way they don't draw attention to it if they had global shutter. BUT this at least means that it has a fast readout, which is great news.

​Color? Your saying that NX1 has poor color? Something most say the camera gets right compared to Sony, in which color is universally brought up as something it lacks? Also, full frame is not even close to becoming a standard film shooting format. Some big budget productions are headed that way, but as an industry it is still a pain to shoot on in terms of DOF and supported cinema glass is still not up to par for the format.

Cheap, over sharpened and the DP apparently doesn't know how to light to save his life. When the man is sitting in the living room (3:35) the children are terribly underlit and the mans crotch is overexposed! WTF? Also good god the camera movement is atrocious!

All Sony needs now is a better lens lineup, improved battery life, and a good flash system and they'll decimate the competition. Though if your primarily video/portrait/landscape work, this cam is the end-all of image quality.

In body stabilization and 4K...holy hell. Also love the sound of that 4K video mode in Super 35! Worried about the RS.

​Those adapters are MTF & Sony E mount only, not the Samsung NX mount.

I'm sorry, but that looks terrible. Don't know what he did to the footage, but that is not the fault of the NX1. Before it is slowed down with twixtor there is some sort of weird interpolation going on with a "ghost" of the guy in front of him.

Nikon mount. Currently no great option for EOS lenses if you want aperture control. Nikon work on everything.

​Editing 4K in a NLE will always seem to have Moire because the programs do not use a very good downscaling algorithm, instead they try to maintain realtime playback. View at 100% or export a clip and view it to see the actual quality.

From your first comparison. A, D, B, C. D is very, very underexposed compared to the rest, but I like the tone of it judging from the last comparison.

Personally, I loved it! Not high art, but it's obviously not meant to be. A fun, well made 30-minute tribute to the 80's. Also, there are a ton of passion films like this that drag on way to much, this one was only guilty of that when he's fighting the Nazi footsoldiers.

​Umm, no. Not at all. It's going to be a broadly used consumer codec, it will be support in premiere/AVID/Sony Vegas. It's just a question of when.
