With the extreme brightness difference of the test any camera would bloom up.. this is the kind of shooting you should never do. If you go from F1.8 to F2.8 at a 40th of a second and move it to a bright F16 of light it is going to bloom or make you think the camera is doing some compensation the sensor can not handle this much of a light change no camera can.
-
When you add in this much bright light into the lens what would you expect it to do as the camera is panned across the bright light it brings in the light more at some points then other angles showing a change but the exposure is not changing at all only the angle and brightness of the light is changing that is coming into the lens. The camera is not compensating for anything if it was it would knock the brightness down but it is blooming up as it moves into more bright light because it can not knock it down as it is in manual. If i set the camera to say Program then it will auto knock down the brightness by bringing up the F stop and or shutter speed and change it again as it moves back to the darker areas. In the video it shows that this is not happening it is not auto fixing itself it is working as it should. I do not know of any camera that uses a chip that would perform any different with this much light blasting at it. I was shooting at F2.8 so when it hits the bright light area this is more then any camera can take so it blooms up the light as it hits the sensor this is normal.

I still say it is not a problem Here is some extreme exposure testing i did all with no exposure drift problems. Only some light blooming you would expect to see with this much bright light no exposure drift going on . This is my last test on this its just not a problem

Wow i have no shift at all now on both cameras cant make it do it.
-
Before and after video showing it fixed
-
I think this is a bug they need to fix.. This should not effect the recorded video but it dose when on the recorded video jumps up and down in brightness when turned off the recorded video is as it should be.
-
I get in my second NX1 camera today and it was having the exposure drift problem so after setting it to the same settings as my other one i found the one thing that is making the problem a extra menu of items with one setting that needs to be changed.. Here is what i posted on Facebook Look at the back of the camera lcd you will see a arrow at the top of the screen in the center. Tap on it and turn off auto display brightness.. that was the only other setting my older camera had changed and now with auto display brightness turned off it no longer has a exposure problem no more jumping up and down and this fixes the recorded video to..

What about the Tokina 100-300mm F4 AT-X lens for video film shooting?? All the photo reviews i have read are very good on this so i just got a used one on ebay should have it next week some time. Anyone use this for filming? Hoping to get some good shots of Boats racing, Skiing, jet skiing, airplanes, Motocross, Birds and what ever for a zoom. Hope it is easy to manual focus at 300mm or around 450 on my cropped camera. I got the Nikon version so it will also work on my Nikon photo cameras to.

Humm maybe no change to the H265 for everything only a upgrade to a better quality HD but it still looks like it will be H 265 ( Pro Quality mode added to Full HD. Previously only HQ and Normal were provided for FHD.) Love this - Users can now set the AF ON button to toggle between auto focus and manual focus during recording.
-
I hope this is all true. Adjust autofocus speed and AE-L button can lock focus in movie mode would be very nice for camera assisted focus then you lock focus as needed it could focus faster then me for most things. Pro Quality compression for 1080p Prores? Really need H.264 for the 4K files as a option but anything is better then how it is now all H265. Would love to be able to edit HD fast when not needing 4K. Great News

I found this posted on facebook it was shot all using the NX1. Starting to see more and more nice videos short films shot using the NX1 now. I still think its the Underdog camera many are missing the potential of. My second one will be here tomorrow. Wish they had a Vimeo version

Wow looks great love the grading good to see it can be done on the NX1 and nice sharp detailed images.

Yaa see that in your video i am not getting it now but i was just like that and worse. One other thing i changed is the color setting to Adobe not sure if that has any effect on the video. I am going to send mine back and get another one... I got the kit for $2799 and now that i see how it all works and what i really need i do not need the NX1 for photography i have other cameras for that so if i am going to run the camera in manual and manual focus then i do not need the $1200 plus Samsung lens or the battery grip i have never used yet. This will give me a extra $1299 to spend on a Nikon lens adopter I all ready have some good Nikon glass, Then i can add on a older manual focus 300mm and 70-200 i have all the wide ones all ready, Should still have some $$ left to go towards a camera rig. This way i only have invested the $1500 in the body and in a year if another brand has the best offering and i change all i need is the right lens adopter and i am all set with lens and camera rig. I am looking at the NX1 as a beginner 4K camera to get my feet wet in 4K and to learn to work with it as i develop a plan for my future 4k productions. I want to do Tv show production or tv documentary work in the past i was good at creating my own productions and finding people to pay for it i lived for many years producing local tv shows making all my money from my paid sponsors i went out and found myself i used to buy all my own air time to at one point i was buying air time in 7 markets for one show i did 90% of all the work on.

To save time converting the files even for HD can i use a Atomos Ninja Star to record out of the NX1 for HD?? I hate having two versions of the files and the extra time it takes just for HD files to Will it also record the 120 Slowmo out? Will this also lock up the NX1 when hooked up? Or any word on Samsung adding in H 264 very soon if they even can. Thanks

For a little more i am looking at this http://www.edelkrone.com/us/5-modula-series The Modula 9 + version -- you can hand hold and focus from the hand stick or use it on a stand and flip up the focus arm. It can be set up many ways. What you posted keeps you stuck on a tripod for the most part.
-
Yaa i shot lots of that today with no problem. I will post some it is taking a long time to convert, edit, export out and then upload each one so i am doing them in small batches. Exporting out a slowmo clip right now - i found a girl using a hulahoop.
-
Here is my attempt to hand hold and focus at the same time. No exposure shifting.. I am editing more. I had to convert the HD to Prores to edit it. I ended up with one very strange file that the camera just could not shoot right it was showing problems on a sign out in the water.. This clip has 3 versions first is right out of the camera no editing - Second is my color pop setting i created, Third is my Cine-blend setting i created

I do not understand your ? I am in Spring Hill Florida right now till the end of Feb.. was over by Destin Fl for Dec. -------------------- I seem to be having a problem editing the NX1 HD files.. They will not load into Edius that i just ordered and paid for i am using the demo right now and love how it handled the 4K converted to Prores files this is the first time i shot non 4K HD.. This would be a nightmarr if i have to cenver all the HD files to. They are all MP4 files. I watched back the footage with a player and no exposure shift problems at all. Here is one of the files right from the camera uploaded to vimeo.... it seems to lost a lot of the quality in the upload.

I have Dynamic Range off. Just got back have a lot of editing to do.. shot in 4 different locations all hand held very bright F16 sunny day out but i am using a ND filter to knock it down. Have not looked back at all the footage yet but shooting using the view finder only i did not see the problem at all. I shoot everything in manual and manual focus as well uing the focus peeking to help me focus. I shot some 4K then a lot of HD to make it more easy to edit for this test, Also shot some good slow mo we found a beach area with a lot of birds in one area i have in slow mo 120 looks good on the screen playback i Shot on into sunset. Did some good DOF video shots playing with manual focus from one item to the next. Using the ND filter i tried to keep everything as much as i could at F2 and F2.8. I wish i had a zoom i could of got some amazing shots today but this place is just 20 min from the place we are staying at right now so i will be back. A ? will focus peaking work on any lens like a Nikon with adapter.. i am thinking no and that will suck as the viewfinder and screen to me is just not as sharp as a real viewfinder for manual focusing.

After playing with my settings a lot i can now not reproduce the problem have testing it over 2 days just inside the house but i am now not seeing the shift i was seeing. I am using a custom setting with color and sharpness set -5, Framing off, Smart range off , Center focus point, Touch AF on when i want AF so when i touch the screen it locks the focus on that area its faster then Manuel focus and locks it so it will not drift focus then push AFON to release it and touch to refocus on something else taking a bit to get used to but works well. When in Manuel focus i turned off the focus zoom in feature I find that to be more of a pain in then then being help full the focus edge detection works very well in the full screen view so i can see the full area i am shooting.. I am taking the camera with me in just a few and will shoot some outside today and see if it still keeps working right with no up and down changes. Will play with the 120 slow mo today to. I still think the NX1 VS the A7S and GH4 is the better camera for over all video quality just look at the HD quality VS the other two. I do plan to shoot a lot in 4K but not all the time for some basic things just to save HD space. From what i have been reading people saying the A7S has no real SLog i think it is when shooting 4K out into the Shogun and the HD quality is not very good compared to the NX1 HD and the GH4 is not as clean as the NX1 or as detailed of a image and the HD quality it not so good on it compared to the NX1. I think at this point in time we are are the best they can be in this price range but it will get a lot better in the next version of each camera. So what lens do you want to invest in and body. The A7S has no 4k inside recording so add on another 2k and your at $4500 just for the both and 4K recording thats to much for a camera like that. The GH4 i hate the crop size of that not for me so the NX1 is the winner for me and the lens are ok and more should come but use any with a adapter in manual focus. I hope i do not see the exposure shift today as that would leave me with not wanting any of the 3 cameras then i would send it back and just buy a cheep HD camera till the next wave of then come out. Will post back later as to how it worked out.

What happen to the rest of the NX1 review and Shogun NX1 review and NX1 vs A7S How do they compare Nx1 seems like a more detailed image but how well can it be graded VS the a7s and GH4??

Gh4 4k downscaled recording to Atomos Ninja Star?

This is intrusting to watch. This it editing a 8 bit file in Edius in 10 Bit to fix all the problems of 8 bit. This is a long video that shows a lot of what can be done in Eduis Go to start point of 24.00 to start at the point he talks about editing in 10 bit for 8 bit files and shows what it dose. Seems like if it is this easy then 10 bit from the camera is not needed to get the 10 bit color space for editing. http://www-en.ediusworld.com/edification/edius-7-and-the-film-look/for-the-craft-editor -
CinegainIf you looked at my NX1 video i posted the contrast and colors are as you pointed out but that is not the way they come out of the camera i boosted the contract and colors up a lot. what comes out of the 4K is very good and full of details and seems to be very easy to edit into what ever you want i am keeping mine. Cant wait to see the full review when it is out here and see what is posted about it. The NX1 might be the underdog all around winner for price and image quality in 4K
