Needs some getting used to, after all there's always software involved. Depending on the mode you're in, functions change and you can't always customize to your liking. Sometimes you have the automated magnification assist, sometimes you don't. Together with the AF switch on the front and the peaking w/ the large DoF it's workable for me. Think, you'll have to try it out yourself.

What Inazuma said. Haven't imported my Lightroom catalogue, yet (since I'm on the Sony trial for C1 and don't know if I'm going to invest in it), but things seem really smooth and intuitive (once you get accustomed to not having the strange Library/Develop/Yaddayadda tabs, I'm pretty sure you won't miss them). In terms of responsiveness in editing I'd say it's better than LR5, and about on par or a little bit below LR6 with GPU acceleration (which has crashed for me on Win 10 and now isn't working anymore. C1 feels less bug-prone to me, too. I've never really loved Adobe due to the numerous bugs and strange behaviors of the software and I do believe they will be severely challenged in the next few years due to apps like C1 and Resolve.

Agreed. Been using Capture One for the first time since I need it for the new Sony and I'm under the impression that colors have a nicer edge from the start. Will have to compare some Nikon footage (Lightroom vs. Capture One). And the HDR sliders seem to be much more useful than the usual Highlights/Shadows approach in LR.

I kinda doubt the new full frame sensor will be able to compete with the 1-Inch-Integrated-DRAM-Beast readout-wise, so I wouldn't expect much slomo-wise.

Canon profits down 16% as demand for old-style DSLRs continues to slide

Good day to you, fellow EOSHD stock brokers. -
Topless fighters, yeah, have fun!

Been shooting again and I have to say: the RX10M2 handles motion much better than the NX1, it just doesn't look as fragile and rolling-shutterish. This must be the integrated DRAM (possibly the stabilization, too). Really impressed. You can just film a bird on-the-fly (haha) on 200 mm and it never looks crappy. I'm probably keeping the Sony, even though it's possibly going to be 1-300 Euros less in a few months. If they manage to build larger sensors with that architecture, we're probably in for an even bigger treat than the A7RM2.

Like I wrote, I doubt you'll get through with them.

Just installed Capture One (which is pretty nice btw, might replace Lightroom for me) so I could give the RX10M2's RAWs a spin and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the 14 bit uncompressed people are talking about (http://blog.esgi.co.uk/2015/06/sony-7r-ii-rx10-ii-rx100-iv-still-lossy.html). The images grade extremely well (you can recover ridiculous amounts of detail via Capture One's High Dynamic Range feature (especially in the highlights) and except the poor high ISO performance (usable up to about 2500 ISO, I'd say), which is to be expected from such a small sensor, the quality is unlike anything I've seen from a camera this size. I'd even go as far as saying that it trumps the a7s (which I didn't like too much stills-wise) except regarding DoF and low light of course. Can't even say the Nikon D800 is much better all of the time (except high ISO again, the RX10M2 pretty much sucks here with color noise and whathaveyou), this little Sony sensor really seems to have some magic going on. If only it wasn't Sony with their idiotic policies, abysmal support and retarded software limitations. First still as shot, second with stupendous amounts of whatnot. :p

Numerical zoom? You mean how much magnification it has? It's a 24 to 200 full frame equivalent, dunno exactly how much magnification it is, probably a factor of 4? It's decent enough for me. The Panasonic FZ1000 has a 25 to 400 equivalent, so that should be a factor of around 8 or something? Perhaps someone else can chime in. If you want image quality, go for the Sony, if you need maximum magnification, I suggest you get a telescope (or the Panasonic).

I don't think it has any weather sealing, there's nothing about that on the official pages. I kinda doubt any consumer Sony camera has weather sealing. http://tobinators.com/blog/index.php/2014/04/everything-else/sony-a7r-in-not-weatherproof-shock/ Found this here. Anyhow, I just got mine and it's really a nice All-in-one package, liking it very much thus far. Unfortunately, the otherwise great remote app (best picture quality of all the apps by far) doesn't allow you to use a Picture Profile. Filed a feature request in the beginning of 2015 when I got an a7s, but naturally nothing has happened, yet. Wanted to use the camera for Vlogging as well, but now I can see that the RX100 IV would have been a better choice due to the fully tiltable display. Otherwise, it handles really well, the stabilization goes a long way and I feel that the handling is getting better (I hated the a7s ergonomics, but this thing now I think is quite nice). Lightroom doesn't support the new RAW format yet, so I'll have to wait to judge stills quality, but video sure is sweet. Perhaps they're working on uncompressed stills finally and that's why it's not working anymore. Here's a little Slomo clip I've just shot (pimped it a bit in Premiere):

In terms of the mic: The TAKSTAR SGC-598 I bought seems pretty decent to me, don't know if/by what name it goes in your region, but here's a link to German Amazon: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00E1CTFZY Just get a cheap boomstick/handle with it. I couldn't bear to pay that much money for (imho) mediocre mics as the Rode Rycote Videomic/Videomic Pro, I returned them both because I couldn't find the value I had paid for in them. And the retarded 9V blocks...The TAKSTAR sensibly takes AA batteries. And recorder-wise possibly try a decent Android/iPhone app? Dunno if this would do the trick. The Rode Smartlav/Android combo works nicely for me. At least for iPhone it seems you need an adapter, though. Dunno about Android, I believe they don't have the complicated setup. If you want me to test this on Android with the Takstar, just give me shout. Here's an article about the adapter you need for iPhone: http://www.danmccomb.com/news/iphone-4-as-audio-recorder-with-external-mic-a-comparison/

Almost ready to go for the A7R II -- some questions

You don't have one yet?! -
Ah, you're breaking my balls, Andrew, was flirting with the 100, now I'm not so sure anymore. Wanted to use it with a Nebula and a boomstick or something like that and having a really portable camera would be nice, too. And the 180 degree tiltable display rocks for Vlogging. But heat will probably be an issue and having the possibility to create some shallow DoF with the 10 would be great. Perhaps the Nebula can handle the big one decently. Decisions. Thanks for the review anywho!

But Andrew, it's a CANON!

Just an insight on how DJI and PayPal do business, should anyone care: I had used one of the coupon codes the guy above posted on his website to buy a Ronin-M, it worked, I payed via PayPal and a day later I get a message that the purchase had to be rejected because the order wasn't protected by PayPal (or some baloney, the support evaded my questions on the matter and didn't react to my inquiry if it was the coupon code that caused the rejection). Now my money is working for PayPal for two weeks, because that's about the time it takes for the credit to be available again if you payed via debit. Called PayPal and of course they didn't know about any order not being protected or anything (the order went through without a hitch) and of course they didn't care about my comment that it's inconvenient that I have to wait two weeks for my money. The PayPal support in Germany is pretty arrogant, dunno about other countries, but I suppose that with their corporate policies and everything it's not too different everywhere else. No more DJI for me. I wish it would be as easy with PayPal, but it's not. Will try to look into BitCoin alternatives, but I doubt there's a lot of shops that support it. Well, I shouldn't wonder, you do have to pay for unlimited consumerism.

Absolutely, fuzzy, that's one of the main reasons for what's going to happen. Wouldn't be surprised if it reaches the EU a bit later as well, though.

I for one don't believe that this stuff is going on indefinitely, no matter how much thought and preparation you put into it. There's going to be harsh regulations or utter chaos.
