  1. Hasselblad have told us that ‘When shooting video the image spans the full width of the sensor’ Read more at http://www.thevideomode.com/equipment/hasselblad-h6d-captures-4k-video-2320/#Bo66Pyxeeel1chke.99 At least no crop mode... Interesting to see how they get from 100mpx to 8mpx
  2. It looks absolutely stunning, visually. I do wonder where this whole franchise is going though... Looks like yet another story based around get into a death star
  3. True... Another concern is they only mention 30fps.. Not 24fps!
  4. I wonder if the start to this was shot on the new camera?
  5. "Medium format look - The narrow depth-of-field associated with medium format cameras gives an unrivalled look and bokeh to your footage." Yes, this might mean pixel binning, but why much such a sweeping statement?... MF, 15 stops DR in a small package and Hassy's incredible colour and skintones... People will go crazy over this if it is not completely screwed with moire and aliasing. Also.... "When you simply need the highest quality, the H6D-100c can also capture UHD (4K) video in Hasselblad’s proprietary RAW video format." Maybe see what this format is before claiming RED's is "far the better"? I think the people buying this camera can probably find a way to deal with lightly compressed 4K raw like you find on an F55.
  6. Looks great... It is easy to feel hard done by, but Canon know their market... Their market is not narrative filmmakers on a shoe string budget. The youtube crowd will eat this up. PS - hard to tell on that video, but the DR looks quite good... Is it holding the sky highlights outside, or is that a trick of the light?
  7. Nice review... It's main job is taking stills and it succeeds... Some nice video features too, but he is right about the lack of c-log... Very frustrating
  8. Seems likely, yea.... But I get the feeling this is gonna be expensive. Sounds like they are targetting the niche markets "The UMC-S3C is suitable for a variety of applications including disaster response; wildlife monitoring; landscape mapping or surveying; surveillance, inspections and investigations; live camera; and as a dashboard/professional point-of-view (‘POV’) camera, among others."

  10. The idea of what is cinematic is changing as quickly as the tech changes. There are few concrete rights or wrongs.
  11. For those others here that are interested in 360 Video... 42 BMMPCs!!!!! http://360designs.io/product/eye-vr-camera-full-3-axis-package/
  12. Some of the vloggers on youtube are creating some really beautiful content. Some of the travel vlogging is exceptional. I'm not defending Canon's clear disinterest in the low priced video market... I just don't get why people cry so much... Just go get a Sony.
  13. Oh, you've found a setting that disables the WB being completely screwed? Please share
  14. Cry all you want... canon have nailed the vlogger market with this one .... great AF and beautiful footage with minimal/no need to go to post. Want Canon for cinematic needs? Use ML, the C line or the 1DX II... Can't afford it, not really Canon's fault now, is it?
  15. Pretty sure I have read 4K/24p can go on standard (but fast) CF cards?
  16. I think there will be different levels of VR... Google Cardboard will be a good intro step into it, but the CPU/GPU is limiting compared to what will be on offer for Oculus and PSVR. But for 360 video, it will be fine and makes alot of sense, as people update their phones quickly. The gaming world is gona go wild for it though, even if it is a step back to about PS2 levels of graphics... The immersion is just a giant leap in gaming. Very interesting tech.
  17. The 1DX-II seems to check every box there.... when a camera checks alot of boxes, it is generally gonna be pricey though, especially when it is bolted onto a flagship still camera. Let's hope the 5D IV is the middle ground that makes us all love Canon again.
  18. A reported 1 million pre-orders for Oculus, a reported 3 million pre-orders for Playstation VR. Once they are in stores and getting rave reviews (which they will)... the landscape will change fast. Obviously dictated by games, for the most part, but 360 video is going places too. I've used prototypes at trade fairs and it is pretty special now they have tightened up the latency.
  19. I'd rather deal with soft footage and aliasing then have leaves, plants and limes look like they have been grown in a radioactive wasteland!
  20. I'll be keeping an eye out for quality 360 cameras too.... With VR about to hit the mainstream, it could take off.
  21. Interesting post and echoes alot of my thoughts when this news was met with a luke warm response. As so often is the case, people jump all over the paper specs and flaws without much thought for the potential image quality, ergonomics etc. I'd rather a crop and a beautiful image than FF and poor colour/WB. Personally, I wont be making another big purchase until we see 10 bit 4:2:2 internal (or raw)... But if I were in the market for a 4K shooting hybrid, the D500 first and foremost on my "to test" list.

    Sony RX10 III

Yea, Sony are dropping out more cameras than girls off the estate drop kids... It's hard to keep up. As Dave said, didn't the RX10 II get launched with the last a7R II? That was, what, June 2015? How can they justify that?
