    DJI X5R - Footage

I need compression while recording... some middle ground between the 60Mbps of the X5 and the 1.7Gbps!!!! of the X5R I can export to anything I want in post.

    DJI X5R - Footage

It's a hell of a bit of kit... I'm just hoping they can get some level of compression on there. 1:1 4K DNG is insane
  3. It seems likely that whoever made the clip has a faulty camera. Even if it is a widespread problem, facts shoould be checked before it is made it into an article... As it stands, it is just 3rd hand, unverified info.
  4. Hoping for a 4k ninja star or similar. Maybe GoPro will respond to the DJI X5R ... Time to finally put cineform raw to use. BMCC with the 15 stop sensor would be amazing
  5. Not sure what you are on about... I was saying that it was a bold move to put 4K/60p in a $6000 camera when their flagship C300 II doesn't have it. As for the rest of your post, it is just pure speculation, with a healthy dose of Canon based tears mixed in. But yea, i'm sure you visit Canon's factory every day keeping upto date with their tech
  6. We'll just have to see.... If Canon see a big noise about the D500, they will respond. They have been doing this game of cat and mouse for decades.
  7. Canon will respond to the D500.... and quickly.
  8. Sony could, Samsung could, Nikon could... Canon have (in a DSLR body). Judging Canon's actual releases on what Sony or anyone else "could" do is futile, at best. Canon rarely lead the line, and have a deserved reputation for moving slowly... But they deserve some recognition when they do take the first step and could easily do something very interesting at NAB to follow up on the quite bold move of putting 4K/60p in a lower priced camera than their current flagship C300II..... Times are changing.
  9. You're saying the FS7 is the same size as the 1D-X II?
  10. None that I know of, unless by mirrorless, you are also counting things like BM Ursa?
  11. Some people still held up on their Canon issues, I see.... In the last couple of years: Launched the first (and arguably still the best) 4K DSLR, the 1D-C. Created a near perfect AF system. Created a 14-15 stop 4K sensor for their C range. Launched the first 4K 60p DSLR. Created an ultra, ultra low light camera. Openly discussing 8K. We might not like the price of Canon's stuff... But it is hard to say that they are particularly boring.
  12. Sounds great! I really want a piece of that C300II sensor, would happily trade resolution in for a small body and lower price and it is product separation that actually sits ok with me... Keep the image quality consistent, and separate the models by resolution, framerate etc (a bit like RED do).
  13. I wonder what people would prefer for a C100 III: 1) Current sensor with 4K / 4:2:0 2) C300II sensor that does 1080p /4:2:2 I think I would prefer the latter and kind of hope that is how Canon separates them... Unlikely though.
  14. in UK at least... C300 II is about $5k less than the barebones LT (no EVF)
  15. the colour is straight up beautiful.... Looks like s16 film
  16. Have you checked to see if this is just a faulty model? I have not seen anything similar
  17. I'd be all over a version 2, if it had a faster lens and used the C300 II sensor tech.... Everyone I have chatted to that actually uses the XC10 loves the thing.
  18. DSLR wise, Canon respond to Nikon... Always have, likely always will. They have smashed the D5 out of the water (video wise), but need a competitor for the D500... So expect that soon. C500 II is due.... Then maybe something leftfield, like a new C100 4K with fixed lens.
  19. yea, 8 bit will never be failsafe, even with 4:2:2 and a high bitrate. 10+ bit is required for that sort of gradiation
  20. 1DC as it stands, but I'd keep that sort of cash until the NAB announcements
  21. It's a good point .... People are focusing on image specs... But it could mean histograms, scopes, peaking etc
  22. I just consider it part of the BM process, if they announce a camera I want, I know not to give it much thought for 6-12 months and expect teething problems if I am an early apodter... If it means I can get a true film replacement for £4k, then so be it.
  23. Don't worry, the 6K 18 stops with global shutter cam will be announced at NAB.
