Does the lack of C-Log point to a 1D-C II? Canon, if you're listening, stick 10 bit internal, some video features and an SDI connection onto these specs and i'll pay a premium.
-
We wont know for a few more days, probably.... Dual pixel AF is a big one... If you haven't used a CXXX cam, you will be amazed. It is rumoured to have C300 II levels of DR... If it has C-log and 4:2:2, then we could be looking at 13+stops in video mode at 4K/60p 1080/120p... Of course, with Canon colour. My interest levels are very high... I like to shoot with small cameras.

You're right Mattias.... Always something to cry about. If it turns out to be true that the new cam has 4K/60p with an image quality potentially quite alot better than the 1DC, then transcoding the codec is a tiny price to pay, if that codec choice is what allows 4K/60p to be possible. Dual pixel AF for video... That is great... Can't wait to see footage
-
+1 too... would happily contribute funds to a crowdsourced project.

These rumour sites were saying the same thing for the Nikon D5. I would consider it BS, then it will be a great bonus if it turns out to be true.
-
4K is only possible from SDI.... I think, because it is a raw format, that the SDI > HDMI wouldn't work either
-
Here is the full list: http://nofilmschool.com/2015/06/atomos-shogun-firmware-6-4-sony-fs700-fs7-4k-raw-prores-anamorphic-de-squeeze

No probs mate... Unlocking that raw output is worth every penny... It will be like a new camera, whether you go shogun or odyssey. It is one of the great overlooked cameras, imho, when unleashed. 4K to 120fps in raw... 2K to 240p in raw... ProRes options... 4K to 1080p downscale.... 12-13 stops DR... Good low light... NDs... Good audio...
-
To get any kind of 4K, you will need to get the Sony 4K firmware to unlock the camera... Atomos, Odyssey etc all use the 4K raw that it enables (to create the ProRes files). With the Odyssey, you will also need to unlock the raw formats with firmware too (If you can get a 2nd hand unit, it will almost certainly have them enabled already). Here is one I saw earlier today, though I would personally be looking for the + model, if I were you... Far more future proof: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?343823-Convergent-design-odyssey-7q-256-ssd-full-raw-bundle

I have added a few 4K DNGs here (FS700/OQ7): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/afojwljvvzfnhix/AABdqI3IEm-TD14zVLjrHTUca?dl=0

No HXR required... I think all new FS700s are 4k ready too
-
To confirm... Yes, the atomos will take the raw feed from the FS700, via SDI, and convert to 10 bit 4:2:2 s-log. The OQ7 has alot more features though, if you can spring the extra cash, go for it.
-
Yea.. Raw is 12 bit... Then converts Raw to 10 bit ProRes, on the fly. If it is anything like the O7Q... It is a great, great feature. 4K raw to 1080p ProRes on the OQ7 is some of the best footage I ever shot.
-
I know it does 4K Raw to 4K ProRes... Not sure about the 1080p downscale... Odyssey 7Q+ definitely does.
-
What i have done, in the past... Flown to New York (from UK) to buy big items like this.... Even with flights, hotel and spending money, it works out well... Only issue is the warranty. I just get it insured though.
-
If you are willing to get a 2nd hand RED, why not a 2nd hand FS700/O7Q? Other than Redcode and maybe colour (maybe), I found it better in every way.
-
AFAIK, the SDI is only outputting a raw signal (in 4K mode), which the PIX wouldn't be able to read to convert to ProRes... OQ7 or Atomos seems the only options. I think the OQ7+ is on offer at $1800 with SSDs, so your budget of $7500 should accommodate it? (FS700 is only $4000 new). All that said though.... If you are going down such a route, i'd hang back to see how the FS5 raw output looks... (Though I think it is unlikely Sony will give 4K 120fps bursts, like the FS700)
-
4K is only via SDI on FS700.. The raw to ProRes mode on the 7Q is a thing of beauty.
-
DVX200 is an option too, doesn't seem to get much chat on here, but seems pretty cool, on paper. FS700 + O7Q+ might be an option too.... FS700 for small(ish) shooting kit... then the full kit for the money shots. Is 4K a must? If not, maybe an F3 or C100 mk II?
-
I find it very easy to edit in Premiere/After Effects... the weight will be an issue though, if you are used to DSLR
-
I have seen quite a lot of RED Scarlet packages for around the budget you have, if you don't mind second hand gear.
-
Looks big to me... F55 size or so. Just think they have got the internal raw and stuff into the main box.
-
Some very nice skin tones there.
-
again, you need to look into drone style monitoring. You can get wireless FPV glasses

They are just trying to shift their stock ready for the next NAB announcements
