  1. How do you guys deal with this or how do I turn it off? I looked in the preferences of the app but no such option there.
  2. Use a proper Slog to Rec709 lut Leroy. And maybe look up a tutorial or two on how people grade their Slog footage. That should solve (most) of your problems.
  3. Here are some more NX1 screenshots from past weekend: //Edit// CLICK on picture to see full quality 4K & 1080p 120fps, Samyang 85mm F1.4 & Samsung 30mm F2 Settings: Portrait, Normal Gamma, Sharpness -10, BMP +15, Green 0.97 Film Convert settings: Default 709 profile, FJ Astia 100 stock, Saturation 132. Lumetri settings: Tint +9
  4. Thanks! The project was 24fps. I shot the RX100 in 60fps (40% slowed down) and some 240fps. The NX1 was set to the "portrait" profile, -10 Sharpness, Master Black Pedestal to -15 and green to .97 in 4k 24fps and 1080p 120fps. All the pit shots were the RX100, the car parade was a mix of both, the crowd of people was all NX1. Basically all the deep depth of field shots are the NX1 (85mm F2.8).
  5. I actually prefer using the Filmconvert 'default camera' profile over NX1 profile(s) as those indeed give too much red and too little saturation in the blues. Here is a video I did today, graded with Filmconvert and shot on the RX100m4 & NX1:
  6. NX1 profile is available for download on the Filmconvert website: http://www.filmconvert.com/download/camera-profile
  7. ^^ Subscribed! But most of all, I have a lot of admiration for the patient and composure of Timotheus throughout this whole thing. I hope things will be resolved in a favourable way for you (and all others who got scammed).
  8. Thanks for the reply John. For the wide end I already have my Tokina 11-16mm. I recently got the 30mm F2 Samsung for interviews/talking heads...but this lens is still a bit too wide to give me a nice subject/background separation on larger objects such as cars/large machinery. That is why I am now looking for a nice 50ish mm lens with good bokeh/ an appealing image. I find that my Helios 58mm F2 lens is a bit too soft wide open and not really up to the job on the NX1.
  9. I'm looking for a "nifty fifty" lens for my NX1 and was wondering if anyone has prior experience with the Samsung 45mm or the Nikon G 50mm 1.8. (I have an adapter with aperture control for the Nikon) I'm mainly interested in the look of the lens wide open, the bokeh and overal appeal of the image. Other (budget) lens contenders/options are welcome as well. Very interested to see what other NX1 owners use. Shots/examples are very welcome.
  10. Nice, didn't know that. I'm still using the trusty 8.1 version of Windows.
  11. NX1 Portrait profile, Samsung 30mm F2 lens, homemade lut resembling Instagram's Clarendon filter. http://imgur.com/mvZVYxB
  12. Many Mac users know the super handy "spacebar to preview" function of OSX. I started looking for an alternative to this in Windows and stumbled upon SEER It works just as good as the OSX function. And as a bonus, it even plays NX1 files without any issues. (something that isn't working on Mac...yet) Check it out for yourself: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ccseer/
  13. I think Vasile stated it quite clearly. The update was coming for a while. While they were working on it, they saw the recent hacks by the community and decided to patch them up quickly as well. So it's not a coincidence. But they did not resurrect a whole team JUST to patch the recent hacks. I'm just gonna stay on the 1.40 FW for the moment though...
  14. Nice stuff Jonatan. I especially liked the *squeezes thigh* part...hehe. What kind of setup did you use to monitor the BMMCC? Also how is the rolling shutter on it in your experience?
  15. Anybody noticed any rolling shutter issues on the BMMCC? Those first two shots of the bridge look like there is a lot of it when panning. I wonder if you would get the same perceivable effect if you slowed down those 60fps to 66,67% in a 24fps timeline? Or would the extra (thrown away) frames result is a less smooth motion?
  16. Judging by his questionable choice of tattoos, I can image that Canon rep might have oversimplified things when talking about "direct replacements".
  17. Haven't heard much about the final result I think. But here is an interesting comparison between the new Leica SL and a Sony a7s: (skip to 9:20 for the actual comparison footage)
  18. I have recently been shooting a lot of 1080p 60fps on the NX1 and love the extra slow motion room you get from those 60fps when editing in 24fps timeline. I just wished there was a bit more DR and/or more room for colour grading before the image falls apart. So it got me wondering what other cameras have a really good 1080p 60fps mode. What is your go-to camera for some crisp 1080p 60fps goodness? Edit: here is a 1080p/60fps slo-mo edit:
  19. Cheers Geoff! Looks like I will be using the 120fps mode more often in the future. The files handled reasonably well, even with some colour correction. Just some macro blocking issues in dark areas, but nothing of a major deal break considering it's a €1000 camera.
  20. I guess you'll have to blame the topic starter for that?? :P (sorry Andrew!) I don't know what all the other stuff has to do with my reply. I am just stating the facts how I see them, not bashing on anything or anyone. The dual pixel AF in the new Canons is some very impressive technology, but the part of wireless controlled AF and record function has been implemented by other manufacturers already. Nothing more, nothing less
  21. You got my attention now!! :D Could you (or anyone) upload a short example of this onto vimeo/youtube?
  22. Gotta love all this confusion about what he is so EXCITED about.. :D But, from the horses mouth: And like previously said....this is nothing new. Works perfectly on the NX1 as well, with native NX-lenses only of course.
  23. I had some fun with the 1080p 120fps function of the NX1. There are a couple 4k shots in there as well, but 85% of the video was shot in 120fps mode. Sharpness was turned all the way down in camera. I also added 1,5% - 2% blur to the shots in post.
