I think that's the sdk to build pc apps to work with a connected nx1.

I sent the news to both photorumors and mirrorlessrumors, but neither of those published it. Probably this is too 'certain' for those sites.

Thx for these informative videos. The nx community is stronger than ever.
-
I guess you can only pass some energy (external battery) and few commands from there, like shutter.
-
Chant: Not sure if I understand. You mean that if nx1 has this programmable chip, it could be able to output at 240fps? Doesn't this depend also on the sensor? You mean the one for the grip?
-
Otto, for example, could surely benefit from some documentation about nx1.

Wow, nx1 Italian community! I feel less lonely now :-P
-
Claudio: another Italian nx1 user? ;-) cool! Where are you from?

The issue of nx1 at iso 3200 in video is, imo, nr. The raw pictures at iso 3200 are totally usable, especially when downscaled to 16mp or below. Hence at 8mp they should shine! Instead, video at 3200 is very poor. Hence, there is something 'wrong' going on in the process.

From your other post, few minutes ago: "Switch to 1080/120fps and it reverts to pixel binning and there's less skew." So how can 120 and 60fps have the same quality?
-
Where is it? Is it for nx1? May you post a link? Thx.

As already said, with the latest fw and an uhs-ii card (lexar 2000x) the nx1 shoots raw+jpg at 5-6fps showing at least a 200MB/sec bandwidth.
-
This is a very interesting idea imo: http://***URL removed***/forums/post/57395417

I guess the ideal thing would be to write a virtual machine for running experimental NX1 fw into it. It won't guarantee that no risk is taken once ported onto the real thing, but it would actually lower the risk by a large margin. I don't know if this is easily feasible, though. Another great (but difficult thing) thing would be a "fw pushing" service from a PC, so that you can push a new fw onto NX1 no matter it's state. Another ideal thing would be a recovery, to be invoked by some keypress.

Top 3 for bokeh on NX1 (native lenses) is, IMO: 85/1.4 50-150 45/1.8 After that I'd say 50-200 and 60mm macro. Only after those, there comes the 16-50s Top 3 for AF: 50-150 45 16-50s Top 3 for sharpness: 60 macro 50-150 30mm

What about NX1 at 1080@30/60 fps for the test? 120fps degrades its quality.
-
Low clock in nx1 could be more for making the batteries last longer, than for better dissipation of heat.
-
About heat: please consider that: - nx1's sensor is 60nm with copper -> much better tolerance - nx1's cpu should be a recend exynos quad core, eg derived from the one in s4 or s5

Chant, great! Think that I've been asking for a NX1 hack since february 2015 Perhaps, in few weeks/months, you'll get there!!! I'm excited!

Imo 800 is the highest before that bad nr kicks in. I'd like to be able toturn it off, since iso 1600 is still very good in raw stills, on nx1.

That test is totally outdated. With fw 1.4, NX1 improved SD writing times by a big margin. With a Lexar 2000x UHS-II card, I have a buffer for 35 frames at 15fps, after which it goes up to 5-6fps "forever". Meaning that it writes at about 200-250MB/sec (notice the capital B). This is still too little for 25fps raw of course; but...NX500 implemented raw compression on the fly. I don't know how much this could save, but it's something already. Perhaps we could reach 8-10fps written directly to SD card. NX1 also has USB3 connection. I really don't know if this can be used to connect an external unit, but if so, it could reach 600+ MB/sec, meaning about 20-24fps. But the most likely scenario for raw video is the following: UHD crop (ala NX500). This would greatly reduce each picture size (less than 10MB each) and hence the lexar 2000x could already handle 20-25fps.
-
If raw video gets unleashed through hacking, then all these questions will become 'the past'. Consider this: nx1 does 1) full sensor readout up to 60fps, then 2) scales it to 4k or 2k, then 3) encodes it in h.265 in real time. Now...think about jumping steps 2 and 3 and just saving the raw sampled 6.5k image to sd card. Even if that were 12bit instead of 14, even if 24/25fps instead of 30/60, even if only for few minutes, this would be the greatest achievement ever in a sub 1000$ camera. I would buy a couple of spare bodies if this ever happens.

First of all, best wishes for your cute dog. I hope he's well very soon. This is a nice and interesting test, as always from you. When you say "osiris" or "impulz" or "IWLTBAP", which one of the many luts of their collection are you using? Also, when you say "deluts make log like", do you mean Andrew's NX2Log lut? When you say "with grain", how do you apply grain (premiere or a specific plugin like filmemulation)? The "with grain" images look more contrasty and really cinematic to me. Why is that if only grain is added? p.s.: OSIRIS + grain is my favourite. Which is yours? p.p.s. sorry for the many questions, but I'm trying to learn
