undecided, if real raw, then it can only be 6.5k (or 4k if cropped, not downscaled). 4k downscaled involves processing, hence can't be raw...
-
Referring to nx1, each raw file (28mp) is about 40MB. So 30fps would translate into 1.2GB/sec. So even if the sensor could be able to stream at that rate, no IO device could record it (possibly those new pci-e ssd devices, but you'd need 1TB for few minutes of video...).
-
For raw video output you mean...12bit? Or really raw in the sense of still images? In the second case, I doubt it could be technically possible.
-
Out of curiosity: is it possible to compare the fw for nx500 and nx1 in order to implement in nx1 the choice of having cropped 4k, for digital lossless zooming in video?
-
I'm quite sure that if nx1 could output in 4:4:4 10/12bit, it would sell so many units that samsung could even think about starting again the production :-P
-
This is really interesting. I'm not sure it will be __that__ easy, but I guess that some variables are passed that can be changed with a hex editor.
-
What is this file? NX1_SDK_ffmpeg.zip From the link above.
-
Yes, most important things are just binary. Meaning that you should look into them with hex editor and see if you find interesting 'numbers' or variables...
-
Is he Nabil Fathi? The guy who claimed to have hacked a7s?
-
Undecided, a SDK exists to create apps for pc to tether the nx1. You could still request it, I guess. But from there you won't likely be able to change inner parameters, like bitrate, fps, resolution and so on. But some ppl found some 'backdoors' for uploading scripts and programs to nx. And a guy, who totally disappeared, was able to get rid of recording time limit on nx300, by directly modifying the fw somehow.

in the meanwhile, on dpr: http://***URL removed***/forums/post/57238559

I tried contacting a couple of programmers I know. None of them was interested :-( I guess we have to find someone interested in nx1 and skilled in programming.
-
really gorgeous look. are they out of camera? or, if you did adjustments, which ones? p.s. did you leave rgb untouched in camera? p.p.s. I remember, when I used gamma c, that shadows were a bit crushed
-
nx1 is different from all the cameras that have been hacked till now. it is based on linux tizen, a real os, with the possibility of running apps and programs.
-
Cool for the links. It'd be interesting to find v1.0 as well, but it probably was never put online.
-
Yup. Disappeared, as always happens :-(
-
Just an idea, but ihkim, a guy on dpr, reverse engineered the nx mount. Another cool thing would be a crowdsourced intelligent adapter to canikon lenses.

I did a test time ago comparing a still grabbed from video to a downsampled raw image. Nr is the biggest difference among the two, so I guess it's heavily present in video. P.s. a collection of suggestions was compiled here on eosHD.
-
true. but new cameras out now and in few months don't use it (1dx mk2, d5 and d500, a6300, a7s mk2, a7r mk2,...). I guess the first hw (from another manufacturer) able to encode h.265 in real time, like nx1 does since end of 2014, will come in 2017.
-
considering that nx1 is the only h.265 camera on the market, it's odd that they are adding support for its files now that...samsung is retreating...
-
several things, but for video, most notably: - higher bitrate (200) - zero nr - faster fps (240) at 1080 and/or 720 - faster fps (60) at 4k - crop mode selectable at 4k (ala nx500) for a digital zoom - 10 bit - 4:2:2 internal rec - evf turnable during video For stills, a lot of things, but especially focus bracketing.

Thx! I found this link to 1.3. I guess on the same site there are also 1.01 and 1.1...but we'd have to figure out the url... http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_UK&CttFileID=5889101&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=N&ModelName=NX1&VPath=FM/201505/20150519111830212/NX1_FW_v1.30_SEC.zip
-
Thx Justin, just asked for access to your files. I'll pass it to the guy I'm in cintact with. Early fw would also be important.
-
hehe, yes. I used the conditional tense to leave the door open to some new project by samsung and/or some hacked fw ;-)

nx1 is the best hybrid, imo, and the best apsc camera overall. The only drawback is that nx system might be dead.
