Imo, if there is any 'deal' among Nik and Sam it's the other way around. Sam is much more powerful and could 'acquire' the right of using Nikon name on its cameras to be released in Europe and USA. That'd be exciting.

Tried exporting. It takes about 2.5x times the lenght of the clip.

This is very personal, of course, but I won't be buying into another system anythime soon. This means that if Samsung - or whoever else - releases cameras compatible with NX lenses which are better than NX1, I'll likely buy them. Otherwise, I'll stay with NX1 for long time (several years).

canon released ef-m mount for mirrorless. Were users upset? Nikon would anyway create a different mount for mirrorless, imho, hence I see no problems in using current nx one and do synergies.

Again talking about dropping or forgetting. The only drop would be, if using F mount, the one about all the other lenses. The intelligent adapter could even be supplied, as noted, and could me made almost invisible for users. P.s. I even think that most nikon users ignore the existence of nx so they would just think that it's a new nikon mount, chosen for ml cameras. Canon adopted a new mount for M. Why not Nikon?? Anyway...we'll just have to wait and see.

The only smart move would be use nx mount for apsc and a shorter flange/larger hole for mirrorless ff. So it could adapt all the existing dx and fx lenses to both, via intelligent adapters, would have a base of very good nx lenses designed for mirrorless from the beginning and could adapt legacy manual lenses. Really, the inly clever choice, imo. Add that, if we believe in the rumor, it's samsung that will announce something at ces, so they could announce the co-development of new cameras continuing the nx system.

I wrote this several times but many ppl seem to ignore that... Nx to F is possible, vice versa isn't. So no problem with compatibility with F lenses if using nx mount. Plus...with F you use only F lenses. With NX you use a lot of legacy lenses. Including F. Just pros no cons. Smaller bodies, small lenses already available at launch, lots of bigger Nikkor lenses via intelligent adapters, loads of legacy lebses via manual adapters.

Again, it would NOT abandon anything, by going with nx mount. Nx to F dumb adapters already exist, and if they join forces they could easily build intelligent ones. I see several reasons for going nx mount. First, as already said, more versatility due to shorter flange (a lot of legacy lenses could be adapted, something impossible with F). Second, arriving on the market with a nice lineup of lenses designed for a mirrorless system. Third, the nice i-Function. Fourth, the size of cameras. Fifth, the possibility of having pancake designs. They could just rebrand the existing lenses, perhaps releasing a faster focusing 30mm pancake.

Mercer, it has not to be one way or the other. If they keep nx, then an intelligent adapter could be easily made to existing nikkor lenses. The other way around would not work and would make the camera (unusefully) thicker.

Keeping the nx mount would be the wisest move. Compatibility with great s lenses (small for what they are) and small pancakes, with many mf legacy lenses, thin body. So a big range of existing and great native and legacy lenses. A nx to F intelligent adapter would make things just perfect. A huge range of bigger but good lenses. The best of both worlds.

Very interesting mood and nice colors. Which ooc settings did you use and - if you can share - which pp grading?

Just tried with a sample video from nx1. Applying nx to log as a base lut and a 33 grid .cube lut as creative, the preview is done in real time with no rendering needed! Before, to playback it smoothly, I needed to render it. Great achievement!

Installed and quickly tried it with a clip. Flawless. I'll soon try with a grading routine to see how it handles it. The fury is a very powerful card, btw.

Since I have a limited data plan at home, where can I find the update file to be downloaded alone?

Great news. I had an AMD Fury which should support h.265 in hw. I'll test later.

I'd like someone to give a shot at them to try and find a "basic" grading pattern to go with (so, please share the settings you applied, hehe). Unfortunately NX system is lacking fast lenses in the fl of 35mm and 50mm equivalents. I've been desiring a 24/1.4 and a 35/1.4 since the beginning of NX. But...nothing. So my advice, for a shallow dof and AF, are the 45/1.8 and the 85/1.4. The former is just...magic. Small, very fast AF, ultra cheap, 9 blades and gorgeous bokeh. The latter is, IMO, the best lens for NX along with the 50-150S. Speaking of which, is also a great lens for portraits at 150/2.8.

Dbounce: if you use a7R with the 55/1.8 and the nx1 with 16-50S lens, then yes, there is of course quite a difference in bokeh. But if you use the 24-70 f4 on A7R and the 85/1.4 on NX1 the situation is exactly inverted. Of course FF will have always 1 stop advantage for bokeh in equivalent FL, but the lens will also be quite a bit bigger and heavier. As to transcoding options, there is new Rocky Mountain 2 out. But I'm looking fwd to h.265 support from Adobe.
