Impressive! I really love the idea of focus bracketing. I've been asking for this for about one year, to be implemented in my samsung nx1, but samsung never listened and oly took the idea. Good for them and for you users.

First, original with Andrew's recommended settings, second graded with M31 vision6, then upped exposure (0.2) contrast (3.3) and vivid (7.3). What do you think?

for the very modest work I do at the moment, 16GB could do for now...but for sure that's something I'll consider in 2016, perhaps I'll add 32GB to my 16GB.

I have the 5820k running at 4.4Ghz (could do much better but I didn't want to go past 1.26v), 16GB of ddr4 running at 2666Mhz CAS13, and an AMD Fury. This card can encode h.265 and has a great price/performance ratio (faster than gtx 980 in games).

No one is talking about the combo "settings+loglut" by Andrew. If any of you uses it, which lut(s) do you apply after that? I'm having a hard time finding (possibly free) luts that give nice colors and contrast after that.

Thx you all. I updated lav and all of a sudden the playback is smooth again.

I have a powerful PC (i7-5820K clocked at 4.4ghz, 16GB of memory at 2666Mhz). I used to have ZERO problems playing H.265 files till...I changed my GPU! I stepped from an old AMD 6970 to the new AMD Fury. This should hw decode H.265. Since then, my files play very bad, "choppily". I'm using: MPC-HC 64 and VLC. Same problem with both! Any hint??? How do I disable hw decoding and come back to CPU only decoding?

Potentially interesting for samsung users: time limit removed...
Marco Tecno replied to Marco Tecno's topic in Cameras
I have always stated that NX cameras should be hacked, given the fact they are based on Linux and have partially open source fw. Of course the skills required are high. NX1 has great potential. Just think if they could unlock 6.5k video at high bitrate, perhaps in 4:2:2 or even raw. Remember that with the lexar 2000x sd card the nx1 can save 5-6 raw+jpg/sec, that's about (or even more than) 200MB/sec (1.6Gbit/sec). So the internal i/o is there to be filled by video! -

What do you mean with afs? Is it af single? That's available AFAIK. Also peaking on in video... -

That was long ago and never moved farther. Perhaps no interest from the author or not enough knowledge of the hardware of these cameras. -

hehe, taking away the time limit for the nx1 should be as easy as he did with nx300. Implementing the cropped 4k video from nx500 (as a selectable alternative to full sensor readout) should/could also be done, when comparing the two fw and looking at the differences. Perhaps even higher bitrates could be implemented. Adding features that are not present at all (e.g. focus bracketing...) is highly unlikely imo. -
As said elsewhere, they should partner with samsung, rebrand the nx1 as nikon, and they would sell millions (and be praised as the best apsc in the world). While nx1 sells poorly because it's a samsung.

Pavel, did you try using settings and profile provided by eoshd?

New EOSHD setup guide gives Samsung NX1 LOG capability and more
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Ricardo, if your intention is to keep the nx1 for a couple of years, then definitely buy the 16-50s. Otherwise, don't. Also the 50-150s is gorgeous. P.s. even the 16-50pz is really nice, especially for video. Tiny, stabilized, cheap. -
1100€ in Italy. Too much, sorry. 999$ is 900€.

+1 for a real log profile for nx1! I don't know why samsung does not implemented it from the beginning. Nx1 is a camera with such strong video specs!

Feature film shot completely with NX1 and SLR Magic Anamorphot adapters
Marco Tecno replied to D.M.Weiss's topic in Cameras
Great insights! Thx! So you did not use the log lut by andrew, for nx1? Which were your base settings for the flattest possible profile, in camera? Which iso for indoor shooting? As to the lenses. 60mm is mechanically coupled for manual focus, but how did you work with 30mm? It's a gorgeous lens, but by-wire focus makes it hardly usable for video, in my experience (but I'm a 'dummy') :-P P.s. if you own it, try the 85mm. Gorgeous lens indeed. -
Imo nx1 could be much improved via a fw update implementing higher bitrates and better encoding algorithm. If I shoot a still at iso 6400 using raw, then apply slight nr and enhance sharpness a little bit in lightroom, then resize it to 8mp (4k like) I get a much, much better image compared to a frame grab from 4k video at iso 6400.

If you have time, please share more of your technique (grading, stabilizing, lenses, etc). Thx!!! -

1) I want to see the full movie!!! You got me hypnotised! 2) great colors, very professional cinematic look! 3) nx1 is a great, great camera. -
I hope it comes to europe officially... At a decent price!

No, the 85 and the 60 are mechanically coupled for af.
