Wow! Fantastic, small and capable! Looking fwd to seeing some test.

And this says it all about the incredible computational power of nx1. I'm sure that if they only wanted, this camera could have even more surprises for us (likelike even higher fps count...).
-
Yup I thought the same, but this one seems even more creepy.
-
Very nice, but a little bit duller than bbw and perhaps less contrasty. Your look is more dreamy, and that's very good for wedding. Can you make it more contrasted?
-
The look is a bit creepy but not 'scary'... It's like the colors are all a bit warmer than usual, while the skins are very natural looking. I just read this: https://mattmulcahey.wordpress.com/2014/02/10/deep-fried-interview-big-bad-wolves-cinematographer-giora-bejach/

I just watched this movie and literally fell in love with how it looks like. Do you have suggestions on how to grade videos to make them look like this movie? I have a nx1. If needed I can make it look like log with Andrew's profile, so if you know of an existing LUT that from log takes a video to look like that movie please let me know. Thx in advance!
-
Sandro I know you bought one! But apparently you're not happy with it since you often post 'against' this camera. I just made a very quick clip now, with and without dis. I watched it on tv from the camera and don't see apparent differences, as long as I don't start shaking my hands purposefully. Panning is good to very good and even walking with the camera is decent.

Depends if they have a chip ready for it. Samsung engineered it much ahead of time and the hw in nx1 is mighty to say the very least. I think that no camera or videocamera has similar processing power, now.
-
Thanks. I'll think about it. I asked the manufacturer time ago and they replied that 1300gr+ is over their specs. Anyway thx a lot.
-
Thanks! The results are indeed very good. It'd be interesting to know if popular sw will support this or not. And what about encoding? I mean...it'd be nice to work directly on h.265 and then export the graded clip into this same format to save space on hd!
-
I agree, racer. But I still can't understand why nx1 has such a poor rs in uhd. It has a more advanced sensor tech than most other competitors, with copper inside and smaller manufacturing process. I have the idea it's caused by software somehow.

Please keep us posted!!! Thx! P.s. and if you own andrew's lut please try it as well with both modes.

Reading from here: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/08/skylakes-graphics-architecture-intel-is-still-gunning-for-dedicated-gpus/ I see that skylake seems capable of encoding/decoding hvec via hardware. If this is confirmed and implemented in video sw, this could mean that we'll be able to work directly on h.265 files, in real time. Anybody has news/evidences about this?

The 16-50s has better feel for manual zoom and has much better af (if one wants to use af). Btw thx for your input.
-
Do all these require a flat log video as a starting point? Thx.
-
Sandro, it's very clear that you don't like the nx1. Every time you bash it. Why is that? You could simply buy anything else and be happier. Btw I don't see any artifact in my videos when using dis. I'm very happy with it. Now I'd just want samsung to improve the dr, introduce a log profile and implement some of the user requested features.
-
Neo, very interesting! But look at the last comment there: "yeah I did some tests to try and figure out once and for all if there was a difference between 0-255 and 16-235 settings in the GH4. I shot a light against a white wall so it blew out in the center and was about 50% grey on the edges. And there was noticeably more banding in the 16-235 setting. Have been shooting 0-255 ever since."
-
Don, that's exactly what I mean (but you expressed this much better than I did). I'd be interested in seeing a comparison with the same luts applied to both 16-235 and 0-255 (eg the one by Andrew first to flatten the image and then another one to make the final image) to see if there is any difference in the final products.

While I'm the first in line to say that there are a lot of features that samsung could (should?) add to nx1, most of which have been suggested by real users (there was a thread on this very site), I think that DIS is not crap at all. If you shoot handeld, it actually makes videos look much better. I'm all but a video expert and I just judge based on what I see. Videos with DIS in which the operator does not shake hands purposefully, are really steady imo.

Wolf, ok I get your point but nx1 is a mirrorless camera. Perhaps the heaviest one arount at about 600gr, and with the smallest s lens it goes to 1300gr, which is already more than the h1+ can hold. If they did it at 1500-1600gr, I would buy it in a heartbit.
-
This product has for me a big drawback. It only works for very light cameras+lenses. My nx1 with 16-50s is already too heavy. Not to mention the 50-150 lens!!
-
Anybody with this combo? Fw 1.4 seems to have unlocked uhs-ii speed hence the camera should be able to output an endless number of jpg sfine at 15fps and an endless number of raw at 8fps. I'd lime to see some tests...

New EOSHD setup guide gives Samsung NX1 LOG capability and more
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
What I'd need from samsung is the possibility of storing different settings for video so to recall them fast and handy! Please samsung...
