Shootout of the 4K flagships - Canon 1D C versus Samsung NX1
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I think that no such thing as a nx1 mk2 is going to arrive sooner than late 2016. Rather they could implement new and better profiles via fw in the existing nx1, which as such a powerful hw that could do a lot. -
Shootout of the 4K flagships - Canon 1D C versus Samsung NX1
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
wow, what you did here is almost magic! Now the shot from nx1, to my eyes, is more natural looking than that from the 10* expensive camera!!! Indeed, the canin has a blue/cyan haze, while samsung has very nice and balanced colors! I wonder if it's totally impossible to obtain such a result in camera! -
wait! I'm not saying that samsung does not update fw or add features! They do. But simply they don't add those features requested by users. It's been years that we nx users ask for movable magnification point for legacy lenses. Nothing. Yet simple to add. Now with nx1, there are a lot of interesting suggestions. They never implemented one. They have their roadmaps about new features and they don't change them.

for video?
-
Samsung is often dumb and seldom listens. What happened to the list of suggestions we compiled here, months ago? No one has been implemented yet.
-
You have peaking with legacy lenses. Just no magnification. To enable peaking -> touch icon on screen.
-
Does it take stills too? How many mp is the sensor?
-
Nope, that's one of the many many things we asked samsung through the list we compiled on this site. No one of those has been implemented.
-
Nope, it's off by default...
-
Do you have framing mode enabled?
-
Any news about that long list that we compiled here and that you forwarded to your contact in Samsung? Many ideas there would greatly improve this camera.
-
Sandro, totally agree. Still waiting for the always on peaking or the 4k crop mode as an option. Or the lossy raw selectable like in nx500. Not to mention 10bit encoding and other more difficuult things to implement.
-
In any case it will be a sw trick and not a new capability of the sensor. The real revolution would be 15.5 stops of dr natively from sensor in any exposure!

Shooting with the Samsung NX500 - a pocket 4K cinema camera
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
While the crop could be overkill in 80% of the cases, I'd still want it as an option on nx1, as a digital zoom. It's actually a shame that they are not giving choice, on the high end body. -
Apart for the gamma settings, the cropped 4k and the 120p mode restricted to 720p, seems more and more like a mini nx1.

Interesting insights into the new Sony A7R II and RX sensor technology
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Maybe the internal cpu can't keep up to do 120fps @1080, downscaled. I still think the cpu inside samsung nx1 is more powerful (as to pure computational power). -
Wow, the second user selling nx1 in few weeks. May I ask what you didn't like about it? P.s. at that price you'll sell it quickly.
-
After the nx1, I really doubt sony can counter attack in the apsc arena. Samsung has access to the most advanced computational hw (the cpu in nx1 is a 'monster', by camera standards). Samsung simply has to further tune its sw (fw) and add slog2 and vlog, along with cropped 4k and, if technically possible, even higher bitrates and 10bit recording.
