Not strictly video related, but I was stunned by this: http://***URL removed***/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr144_0=samsung_nx1&attr144_1=nikon_d750&attr144_2=nikon_d5500&attr144_3=sony_a7_ii&attr146_0=100_6&attr146_1=100_6&attr146_2=100_6&attr146_3=100_6&normalization=print&widget=212&x=-0.6624118121908348&y=-0.9768417588491292 Imo the nx1 is well ahead of others, when ev is pushed ahead. The incredible thing is that nx1 fares much better when pushing iso 100 ahead of 6ev, then in its iso 6400 mode! What do you think?

I'd like to see a measurement keeping into account the strengh of nx1 in dark areas.

Shooting with the Samsung NX500 - a pocket 4K cinema camera
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I bought it 2 months ago, new, for 1.225€ shipped, so that's about the present price, but now it doesn't sound that great deal it did 2 months ago. I think samsung is terrible in this, and if nx1 goes lower than this it will destroy the credibility of a 'prosumer' product. -

I never saw the nx1 on ebay at 1200$... -

Do you think they'll release something comparable to nx1 in that money range? I personally don't. -

I agree, older nx were impossible to sell. I tried with my old nx200, when I bought thr nx300. I wasn't able to sell it even at 200€ including kitlens (mint box and all). But the fact is...if you paid 1500€ for nx1, would you agree to sell it for 1000€ after a couple of months? Perhaps if you really need that money, otherwise I think most would keep it, unless they really hate it. As for nx lenses, I agree. I also had decent prices for most of the ones I bought. Even for the two S lenses. And I bought all them new. -

One can dream ;-) I, on the contrary, bet nx1 will still be well over 1300$, new, at least till xmas. Why should an used one be that cheap? Perhaps you'll find one at - say - 1100-1200$, now that new runs for 1500$. But why should ppl depart from it for that little? In favour of what? -

A Walk Downtown - Samsung NX1 - 4k Cinematic Test
Marco Tecno replied to Micah Mahaffey's topic in Cameras
Are you fine?? Where am I upset? I simply stated that it's about 1 month that nx1 does not get updated. In the meanwhile, a lower model came with some better specs. This, imo, is not logical and not customer oriented. If for you is different, then express yourself w/o saying silly things to others. -
The title of the thread is very negative towards this camera.

Not lately. Last one is 1.22, out at the end of february. And the new nx500 has some fearures more/better than nx1, which is imo not acceptable, considering the difference in price and market positioning. -

Agreed, but samsung needs to work hard on fw updates and has to provide bettebetter features and performance to those who "bet" on this underdog. -
My old nx300 had the infamous defect of the selection wheel. It has been serviced in about 10 days under full warranty. Good service.

Very nice colors! Are they ooc or did you grade? Which base settings did you use? I also like the contrast. -
There are no official statements about this afaik. There is this interview: http://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2014/09/27/photokina-interview-samsung-nx1-redefine-pro-performance-quantum-leap-tech And the rumors. I bought the nx1 two months ago. In this period of time, I upgraded fw three times (1.2, 1.21, 1.22). Now a new fw is overdue, since nx500 is ahead of nx1 for focus speed on moving targets and has lossy compressed raw. At least those two things HAVE to be implemented in nx1 asap.
-
According to this test: http://***URL removed***/forums/post/55538098 the nx500 is quite a bit better than nx1 in fast focusing on moving targets. This makes me hope that nx1 will see at least the same improvements soon, via fw update. That said, and considering the iq, I think nx1 is a very nice incoming and grooving system.

Have anyone used a non Samsung lens on the NX500 wont work for me
Marco Tecno replied to DigitalEd's topic in Cameras
What do you mean? Do you get a 'no lens' error? If so, try to manually press the button inside the mount. -

I can't understand why samsung is waiting this much for implementing the new features (lossy compressed raw and cropped 4k as an alternative) on nx1. The flagships has been forgotten already?? -
Same for nx1. With the "super hardware" it has, and the claim that the full sensor is sampled at 240hz, and the h.265 codec (producing great qualitynat low bitrates) I can't really understand why it doesn't do 240fps at 1080 and, even more oddly, at 720. It should w/o a problem. And would sell a lot more, with that feature implemented via a fw update.

Samsung NX1 - $1500 4K Cinema Camera! Test!
Marco Tecno replied to Micah Mahaffey's topic in Cameras
Do you have the 16-50S? If so, you could try it and see how it behaves with handeld shooting. Nice clip, btw. -
I really like slowmo for...things that require slowmo ;-) Eg, tomorrow I should be watching a tennis match, and I'll try to grab some slowmo videos at 120fps and see how it fares. But in general I'm not one that likes watching minutes and minutes of slowmo videos. Much better are those videos in which some parts are slowmo and others are at normal speed. That's why I'm a bit disappointed that nx1 can't record audio at 120fps. In that way I could be record at that speed, then playback some parts in slowmo and others at full speed from the same recording.

Shooting with the Samsung NX500 - a pocket 4K cinema camera
Marco Tecno replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
From users' reports around the web, it seems that nx500 has some points in which is better than nx1. Namely: 1) faster buffer clearance: after 5 shots, the camera writes to sd and in about 1 sec is ready to shoot other 5 2) faster af in low light (less hunting) 3) lossy compressed files as alternative for losless 4) presence of 200p video optionoption in 720p (but greyed out in any mode, so waiting to be enabled) -
What do you mean by pal/ntsc switchable? Nx1 does already that.
-
I have the 50-150 but never tried it for video. You can use peaking with legacy lenses by touching the icon on the screen. It stays always on, and is very effective. I tried it with a hexanon 57/1.4 at full aperrure and it's very good.

The cop mode was included in the suggestions. Not the 2.5, but that would be cool if possible up to 120fps, imo. And 240fps for 2k should be possible for the mighty nx1.
